This is basically just a rant thread In the middle of draining one of the 55s, I suddenly here a snapping noise. I couldn't figure out where it came from until I was done draining the tank and started draining the next, but then I noticed that the lights on the first tank kind of slightly sagged down at the middle of the tank. So I looked and found that the plastic center brace that is connected to the top plastic trim, separated from the trim at the back side of the tank. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY..... It's not that much of a biggie though. Whenever Steven calls I'll ask him to go to Home Depot and get stuff to make me an improvised center brace like he did for another 55 we got from CL that had no center brace. Still, it is just irritating that I will have to let the tank sit half filled for now (I don't dare to fill it all the way) with the filters turned off until sometime tonight.
I know most of you are enablers when it comes to goldies.................=)............and that may be in my favor............ I REALLY have a bad itch to get another goldie..............I currently have 3 in a 55, two fancies and 1 comet.......... Does anyone know if having 4 in a 55 is doable???? I am NOT scared of water changes......and I happen to have an empty tank for QT............does anyone know of a smaller type goldfish that I can add to my collection?.......and by this I mean genetically is there a fish that will tend to be on the smaller size................. Let me know what you think.............thanks Dotty
Hello! Back in february I bought two panda goldies and stuck them in a 20. Now I know that is too small but I have been having problems with filters and it set me back. After lucking into a 55 and a Marineland Penguin 350 for 44 dollars, their new home is coming together! They aren't in the tank yet but I can already tell there will be a current problem. The filter is pretty strong even with the second lid on it. My guys are still small, only about 2-3 inches and had a problem with their tetra whisper filter. How can I make a more permanent solution to help lower the pressure? In their smaller tank I had a plastic bottle part taped to the filter that helped diffuse the current but got really mucky and fell apart quickly. I want them to be able to swim everywhere in their new tank and I would love to have a permanent solution to the filter current problem.
Hi everyone. I'm excited about my new tank. I think I'm going to have to buy at least one filter for it to get enough gph. Can you share what combination of filters you use? I'm probably going to have at least one canister, because there is not room for more than one HOB in the space provided on the acrylic 55 gallon I just bought. The tank came with what I think is a Whisper 60 which pulls 360 gallons per hour. So I need 240 or more from the canister. Thanks for your help!! Mj
