  1. Everyone seems to be doing great. Mojo is out of QT and is as active as ever. No bottom sitting and red streaks are gone, so he's back with the gang in the 75 http://vid40.photobucket.com/albums/e235/cdionne77/20150828_230620_zps1yvjfzac.mp4 Sushi my son's new Oranda is still in QT and not quite ready for his 20g http://vid40.photobucket.com/albums/e235/cdionne77/20150829_002057_zpsp399azkl.mp4
  2. Check out this clown fish and ranchus swimming in the same tank!!.. No clue how they do it but it's awsome!! https://fbcdn-video-c-a.akamaihd.net/hvideo-ak-xfa1/v/t42.1790-2/10840185_1542867685853303_1563109011_n.mp4?efg=eyJybHIiOjczMiwicmxhIjo1MTJ9&rl=732&vabr=407&oh=b7ea6ad69e2538a14bc77855e938e156&oe=55E12321&__gda__=1440817151_7dabd9ba86fda407aaf323c8063b8288

I continued salt and heat for a remaining 10 day period. Treatment ended 9/3/15 Started maintenance prazi on saturday regular dose no salt. will be doing 2 rounds * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. Prazi and salt treatment 4+ rounds about 6 months ago. .03% salt for ich treatment on 8-15-15 ending on 9/3/15 * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? no * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? Bottom sitting For the past 4 days Skipper has been just bottom sitting, he will come out of the corner when being fed, but after that he will just sit at the bottom. I started a maintenance round of prazi (no salt) just to be on the safe side. He shows no other signs of being ill other than bottomsitting. I am wondering if it could be something internal. All other 3 fish in tank are active and doing fine. Could I just be paranoid? After loosing Citrus I don't want to take any chances.
  4. We are approaching the end of summer so of course my pond looks fantastic! My 2 ranchu and 2 butterfly teles inhabit it in the warmer months. Chunk and Mario Chunk coming up to make an appearance
  5. Funny thing is, they don't know it's good for them Citrus on the other hand could care less about proper nutrition. She doesn't like her veggies http://vid40.photobucket.com/albums/e235/cdionne77/20150808_175153_zpsl0z09vun.mp4
  6. I'm not really sure what's been up with my Ranchu as of late. I will start off by the initial problem I am concerned about. We've had the fish for about six months now. A few weeks ago, one of his eyes became cloudy (as seen in the pictures), but now the other one has developed this problem a few days ago and both the eyes are like this now. My other two fish (a fantail and a black moor) are perfectly fine, but he often eats quite a bit and ingests a lot of air. Now I have tried everything from the pea to the sinking pellets, and then he seems fine for a few days and then goes back to the floating again. We feed them a varied diet such as: brine shrimp, bloodworms, peas, and then pellets. I am wondering if these two problems are linked? I have done endless amounts of research but can't pinpoint the exact problem he has. He has an appetite and looks healthy aside from those two issues. There is zero ammonia in the tank and the pH levels are on point. Weekly water changes are done. Can anyone give me pointers on what this could be?Thank you so much! Also, to treat this should I separate him from the others? What treatments can I do for him?
  7. Hello fellow fish keepers, I posted earlier this month that I am from the Dallas Texas area and I am Rehoming 6 east coast Ranchu juveniles! They are beautiful fish and need a caring owner who can give them lots of love! Please anyone with who would like to take them indon't hesitate to notify me!
  8. Hello I am rehoming 6 Ranchu babys! If you live near Dallas Texas you are welcome to email me at jonathan_martinez08@outlook.com They are about 7 weeks old. Some are slowly developing color. It is a wonderful experience caring and raising them so email me if you are interested!
  9. If you live in southern California or planning on visiting, San Diego to be exact. I just found the pot of gold(fish) at the end of the rainbow. Its a place called Coast Gem USA. They are distributors but sell to the public. Incredible quality and selection without the crazy internet pricing, depending on the season and shipment received. Don't get me wrong, your going to pay for quality goldfish, but not hundreds of dollars for them. It's a family owned business that the owner and son operate. They are awesome guys that are willing to go that extra step to get you what you want. Just thought I share this place because I had a great experience and believe everyone deserves to enjoy the beauty of these fish without breaking the bank. 10. The first of the year proved to be pretty tough. Lost a few to some new diseases and parasites I personally had never encountered before and some quarantined because of it. They were finally reintroduced back to the community a week ago. I was then forced to re-think my filtration system. Because my pond was made out of porous concrete I thought the good bacteria would colonized and the use of some pre filter media with uv light would be sufficient. I used this system for years and I guess did not think about over stocking and fish getting big that I would have to adjust accordingly. So I made the adjustments with the addition of a home made bio filter. I also thinned out my herd by relocating some of the smaller fish to friends and family. It seemed they were not as resilient as the bigger more established fish. Made a vid of my goldfish community. Hope you enjoy it. FYI: Just lost my beautiful bronze/chocolate oranda, count chocula (named by my kid). Had an on again/off again battle with an internal bacteria. He was featured in this video and will be missed.
  11. Some ranchu fries I have recently breed. Still very young, take time to grow.......

Note: I was going to give both fish a maintenance 2 rounds of prazi and no salt soon as I was going to be adding another fish into main tank who is currently in QT with salt and prazi treatments until I find a bigger tank for all of them. If there is medication to be administered please note that I do not have another available QT as I have 2 already in use ( one has fry in it) and I do have live plants and snail in main tank. ( I could find another container for them if needed) Meds I have on hand Metro Med Medi Gold T.C.Tetracycline Metronidazole Kanaplex Salt Melafix Epsom I just don't know what is going wrong or what i am doing wrong as I am strict on WC's and water perams are always excellent.. Citrus the Oranda is not a nipper and I have watched to see if she was bullying him and she isn't so I am not sure. Thanks guys for your help Left tail fin
  13. I bought this purse a couple weeks ago on eBay, but it's too small for the amount of stuff I carry around on a daily basis. I thought I'd offer it to anyone here before I put it back on eBay. It's really cute. It measures about 10" long by 7" tall, but is only about 4" wide when you put stuff inside. The straps are kind of short, 22". It is still new with the tags. Same print on both sides. Price is $10 plus shipping. If you're interested PM me with your zip code and I can tell you what the shipping would be. I'll ship to anywhere in the US, Canada --anywhere else ask and I'll look into it.
  14. Here are some pretty poor quality photos of the new pearlschus as they settle in. The orange pearlchu has a few bumps and bruises from shipping but is active so I'm monitoring it. The sakura is big fish and a powerful swimmer; I’ve always had a soft spot for sakura ranchu. The little yellow pearlchu is somewhat younger than it’s two friends, at 2 months old, this fish came from Thai buffalo lines so I’m excited to see how it’s wen grows out. It was far too speedy for me to get any good picture of it this time, maybe once it warms up to me more. For anyone who isn’t aware these fish are not a cross of any kind, they are 100% ranchu, spawned from completely normal ranchu parents. However it has been shown that when you linebreed goldfish certain oddities can arise, and in ranchu you sometimes get these funky pearlscaled ranchu (which I have uncreatively called pearlchu). ECR and I happen to share a love of pearlscales, and she entrusted these little ones to me so that I can make my sole purpose in life showcasing how dang cute they are. To the best of my knowledge, these fish do not breed true. But overall I’m so stoked to own these guys; they’re definitely one of the coolest phenotype combos I’ve ever seen. (Also sorry for the watermarks, I've had a few images stolen recently and I don't want to take any chances)

  19. Hi everyone! I know it's been such a long time since I last posted anything besides sick fish, but I've finally got a few free minutes to show you how the tank has been doing over these past few months! As many of you know, I had to euthanize Speckle in November. She was suffering from issues related to her swim bladder, and her abdomen had become soft and swollen I was very sad to see her go...she was my very first fish and I had a great attachment to her. In addition, I had to euthanize my ranchu Dorito in December also due to swim bladder issues. Dorito had been a sinker for months, and was at the point where he (found that out towards the end) could no longer move up from the bottom of the tank. He had developed lesions from sitting on the bottom for so long...I didn't think it was right to let him live like that. He went peacefully and let out a big sigh as he fell asleep. I knew I had made the right decision. I got another fish in December - Chai, a pompom oranda from Dandy Orandas! What a pleasant company to deal with Chai has thrived with her new tankmates, and holds her own against Mr. B!!! My tank dynamic feels "just right" now with 2 females and 3 males. My nitrates have been high lately, so I'm doing some more frequent water changes. All in all...despite the tragedy of losing two fish so close together, things seem to be going well *fingers crossed* Without further ado, pictures! Chai! Isn't she pretty? Clem says hello Before Dorito passed...you can see where he would sit. Anyway, Mr. B, Clem, and Chai dancing! Pickle, Chai, and Marshmallow (foraging) Mr. B!!! Everyone's fave. Marshmallow What a pretty little chu! Mr. B getting some booty - Chai's tail is a bit nipped up here. It has completely healed since I took these photos Last but not least...Clem getting a yawn in! I'll be sure to post more often with photos, everyone. Thanks for all your help and love!
  20. Don't mind the tank in disarray...Doing some updating and had to take the TMS out as my water pressure is horrible and the Python wasn't sucking up the gunk. Also Skipper and Citrus wreaked havoc on the poor anubius so they are gone as well... anyway..... My daughter took a video of them being cute. http://vid40.photobucket.com/albums/e235/cdionne77/Mobile%20Uploads/20141230_201657_zpsxh2n9pvm.mp4
  21. Have about 10 active swimmers in a bucket with tank water and air stone. Well try to get better pics later.
  22. Hi everyone. This is the third post I've made, now, concerning Dorito, my ranchu. She's not been well for a long time, and it seems like I've pretty much tried everything I can think of. I don't know what else to do. I'm posting again because she's not better and also because she's now started to get sores on her belly from bottom sitting... Here's a background: I got Dorito from ECR back in December (I think) of last year. She was awesome, adjusted well to the tank, got along with the other fish, and had no swimming issues for about 3 months or so. Then, she started to look like she was losing her balance, and eventually became a habitual bottom-sitter. She's been like this at least since March-April of this year. I treated for flukes, multiple times. I gave her 0.3% salt baths, I treated her with MMs twice, for a full course. I talked with Cynthia to see if she could think of anything that might be wrong. Nothing helped. Dorito still eats readily, hasn't lost any weight...she just looks so sad and is always in the corner at the bottom of the tank. It's almost as if she's too heavy to swim - when she tries to move upward, she can't. Her head weighs her back down. Here are my test results: Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level(Tank) 0 * Nitrite Level(Tank) 0 * Nitrate level(Tank) 10-20 * Ammonia Level(Tap) 0 * Nitrite Level(Tap) 0 * Nitrate level(Tap) 0 * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 8-8.2 * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 8.6++ Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? * Water temperature? 74˚F * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 75 gallons, 1.5 years * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Eheim 2217 canisters x2 * How often do you change the water and how much? 70-75%, twice weekly * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? 3 days ago, 70% * How many fish in the tank and their size? 6, 3 under 4", one 4", 2 around 6" * What kind of water additives or conditioners? Seachem Prime, Vita Chem Freshwater vitamins, Buff it Up * What do you feed your fish and how often? 2-3x per day, a variety: bloodworms, brine shrimp, krill, peas, repashy soilent green, NLS thera A, NLS goldfish * Any new fish added to the tank? No * Any medications added to the tank? No * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. Prazi treatment, spring 2014; "heavy" prazi treatment July-August 2014 (according to rules found here in the masterpost), MMs 2x over the summer, salt baths over the past 2 weeks, every few days * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? See description * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? See description Really hoping you guys can help. I feel so sad looking at her on the bottom of the tank. But...she still eats. Sometimes, lately, she's been listing to one side...
  23. They are finally in the 40B and loving the space... My camera does them no justice...They look like bright balls of orange in the tank. Citrus Skipper
  24. What is the minimum tank size I can get away with for a single ranchu? Shes currently in a 50 gallon tank but I really want to upgrade(downgrade) to a smaller one since it is sooooooooooo big for just one fish. And no I don't plan on getting another ranchu anytime soon because they are very expensive where I live. I want to get a 20 gallon breeder. Will it be ok? They are 32"'x12.5" where I live.
