This is my first time posting, so I apologize if I've got anything wrong here. * Ammonia Level: 0 ppm (approximate) * Nitrite Level: 0 ppm * Nitrate level: around 20 ppm * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines): 6.5-7 (GH is around 180, KH around 120) * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines): 7.6 * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? Strips, API Aquarium Pharmaceuticals * Water temperature? Not sure - it's around room temperature and I keep my apartment at about 18 degrees Celsius. * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 20 gallons, 2 years (though I have moved twice in that period so it's been dismantled and set up again). * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Aquaclear, 30 gal. * How often do you change the water and how much? I normally do about 25-30% once a week, but since my comet has been sick and my ph has been a bit low I've been doing small water changes (again, usually around 25-30%) every couple of days. * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? This Thursday, 30%. * How many fish in the tank and their size? 2 fish, one fantail and one comet, each about 2.5 inches not including their tails. * What kind of water additives or conditioners? Tetra Aquasafe to dechlorinate the tap water. The reason I haven't done a water change in the last couple of days is because I've run out and haven't had time to head down to the LFS. * What do you feed your fish and how often? Omega-One, daily with one day of fasting a week (just started this - they HATE it but I know it's best for them). I also occasionally feed them peas (boiled) and garlic (also boiled). * Any new fish added to the tank? Not in the last two years. * Any medications added to the tank? Maracyn this week, other medications in the past few weeks since nothing has been working. * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank: Okay, this is kind of long. My sick fish (Djoser), has had fin rot a couple of times and I've always treated with Furan-2. Unfortunately this last time it doesn't seem to have worked, so I've been trying other things - Maracyn and Triple Sulfa specifically. I also treated the tank with API "Super Ick Cure" a few weeks ago when he had Ich. * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? Yes, yes and yes. Basically, he was showing signs of fin rot so I treated him with Furan-2. He seemed to have recovered, then a few days later he developed Ich, so I treated him with Super Ick Cure. THEN he developed a huge abcess on his side, in addition to more fin rot, so I treated the tank with Triple Sulfa, which seemed to take care of it (the abcess ruptured, which was horrible, but it seems to have mostly healed by now) but as soon as the treatment ended his fins started fraying again. I treated with Maracyn but it doesn't seem to have had any effect. I'm afraid to keep bombarding them with chemicals, especially since my other fish (Narmer) isn't exhibiting any of the same symptoms and I'm afraid of harming both of them with too much medication. On the other hand, I don't want to just let Djoser waste away. * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? He was bottom-sitting quite a lot when he had the Ich and the abcess, but he doesn't seem to be doing that anymore. He still seems really lethargic, though, and isn't eating nearly as much as he used to. Also (possibly unrelated), Narmer, who has always been extremely healthy, has been behaving oddly these latest few days. He seems to have WAY too much energy and is darting all around the tank, occasionally rubbing against things. I'm thinking flukes or something similar. Could this be connected? Please help! I've grown so attached to these little guys and I can't stand the thought of losing them.
I just saw these two and knew they were the fish I wanted. I didn't even look to see what kind they are. Could somebody help me out? I know they are either common goldfish or comets. There names are Hercules(gold) and Titan (white & gold). I would really appreciate it and so would they. :goldfish:sorry about the quality they are less blurry in person and way more adorable! Hercules has a messed up dorsal fin I call it his battle scar.
