  1. I am baby sitting a betta for a friend of mine. First of all... he doesn't look too great... his color is faded. Now he is swimming around, and this morning did the little stalking when I came to feed him his food (blood worms) but he puts one in his mouth and then spits it out. I've also tried betta bites, and flakes... I've added some salt to the bowl... any ideas what could be going on??? Thanks so much
  2. I appreciate all of the replys. Darth passed away this morning. He was the most beautiful fish. And we were so lucky to have been his parents for so long. I still have no idea what took his life. But I am just glad that he isn't suffering any more. His tank mate Leia seems to be doing fine. But will keep a close watch on her. Thank you again for the advice and help.
  3. I've had Darth for 2 1/2 years He is about 5-6 inches - beautiful black moor I added Leia in November of last year. Darth is still not doing well... on bottom of tank curled on his side. Worried he will not make it the night
  4. He has in the past had floaty issues... but primarily up and down not side to side. He's fairly big... and this new behavior is strange and unlike him.... I'm not quite sure what is going but I'll fast him for a couple of days to see if that helps...
  5. Not sure if he has something stuck or not took him out and did not see anything. He swims and then lilts. He literally tilts to his side and looks like he is dead. This started last eve, but then went away and seemed fine all day until this evening. I have added salt and turned off the light because I don't want to add additional stress. I'm just not sure what to do. He is one of my favorites, and I've had him for quite some time and will be devastated to lose him. please help
  6. I am afraid he may have a rock lodged in his mouth, but do not know what to do to get it out Please help asap

  8. My beautiful and perfectly healthy goldfish darth is currently lilting to the side and acting very lathargic. It started last evening. He is a black moor - is color is also weakening... and I have no idea what is wrong. It started after a water change. I'm about to do another change now. Please help
  9. I seem to have noticed the tumor developing over the last couple of months... it started small and has gradually gotten bigger. It has only recently affected his swimming. I appreciate all of the responses ... My name is Sutton...
  10. thanks I'm thinking that he will live out the rest of his life with this thing... but hopefully happily.
  11. share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8AZN2bJy1cNGF- This is the link with a pretty clear photo of the tumor. Water perameters are as follows 26 gallon tank 2 goldies 2 penguin biowheel filters on back 1 eheim canister filter one weekly water change of 30% currently treating with melafix and primafix and salt for low grade fin rot used to do a smaller water change and just recently upped it to another bucket and fin rot is improving. Thank you all for your help
  12. Well those were such wonderful replys The tumor itself is white and is protruding off of his back. He seems really happy - except for the difficulty in keeping upright - I think that it is affecting his balance? But it is good to know that he can live with it. If there are any other thoughts I would so gladly appreciate it. Thank you for your kindness
  13. Hello! I have a year old goldie pepe who has developed a white tumor/legion on his back. I am concerned because he is extremely flippy. He floats upside down and all around and never did this before the tumor appeared. He spends a lot of time up in the corner of the tank. I have kept goldies for three years and am a frequent visitor of this site. I have six other goldies, and this is the first 'tumor' incident I have encountered. i just want to make sure there isn't anything I can do. He is eating normally, and otherwise seems fine... although I fear that the tumor will eventually take his life. Any thoughts?
  14. 1- what size tank do you have? 2- Do you have a test kit to test the water quality? You can buy an air pump and tubing at your local pet store... and a 'bubble bar' (I have those) or an air stone and this will add air and oxygen to your tank. 3- How long has your tank been running? I would also take a look at the ten steps to a healthy goldfish. It sounds like your water quality conditons are not ideal and that your tank is over crowded.
  15. One of my goldfish sleep standing straight up in the corner. It's like he's hugging the corner.... Very strange.
