  1. Just wanting to have a bit of a discussion around what kind of fish I should get. I still haven't decided on what size tank I want and all of that. Currently doing house renovations, so nothing can happen until that's finished anyway. I really only have room for one tank - and if I'm honest, I can only handle the maintenance, electricity and water bill for one tank. I have had goldfish in the past, and I love them so much. I had all Orandas (my personal favourite), but I don't think I want to do that this time around. I mainly had it that way because I *kind of* wanted to breed them, and I didn't want the babies to be all crazy different types. I don't care about that now, I have no desire to have baby fish. I mean if my fish spawned, I would probably try to grow them up and keep a couple, but I certainly won't be encouraging it. Anywho, I would love to see some pictures/opinions of those who have multiple varieties in one tank. And what kinds of varieties go well together so that they are not bullying or out-competing one another for food?
  2. What's up guys? I haven't been on in a while. Still haven't got a tank/fish yet. Still wanting to do it, but am thinking it all through very carefully. I'm facing a minor setback. My 5 year old Macbook is not doing well. I've had a couple of incidents where it refuses to boot and the only way I can get it to switch on is to format it. I'm sure it won't be long til it dies completely. I suppose I could try to get it repaired, but I know that it needs a new battery, keyboard and track pad, and lord knows what else. Luckily, my coworker has given me one of her old computers. It's a bit slow but at least it works. I am trying to decide whether to get a desktop or laptop. At the moment am very much leaning towards a desktop as I actually like the fact that you have to sit down in one spot to use it. I don't mind using this computer until I save up for a new one, but I don't think it's a very good long term solution, as it really is very slow. Anyone got any thoughts on this matter? What kind of computer do you have/do you like it.
  3. They are all lovely, but I've gotta say, Pepper is my favourite
  4. So I'm still on the fence about getting fish again, but that hasn't stopped me from thinking and planning I am thinking of getting a (display quality) rack setup custom built. See pic below At this stage I'm unsure of the dimensions. The longest I can have is 3.5ft long as that's all I have room for. I know that goldfish don't like too deep of a tank, but I would like the bottom tank to be as deep as possible for the sake of it looking aesthetically pleasing (this is the one that will house goldfish, the top tank will have a tropical community tank or something of the sort) The top tank can be whatever, and perhaps a little narrower to allow a HOB filter to go on the back without having the whole thing too far away from the wall. Speaking of which, I don't want the tanks to be to come too far off the wall as I am limited on space. I suppose what I'm asking is what would you consider the ideal dimensions for a 3.5ft tank. Also how big of a gap would you have between the top and bottom tank? (I want enough to be practical and for lights but also not too much that it leaves too big of a gap and detracts from the look of the whole thing) If anyone out there has a similar setup, please post a pic!
  5. Sorry, I know that this post is a month old, but thought I'd chime in anyways. Could you drain into the bathtub or shower instead of using the faucet for suction? Then hook to the faucet when you're ready to fill
