  1. That's great thank you! The one that I was in a few days ago didn't seem to have much but I have 3 or 4 close to me so will try a different one Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I thought around 50 or 55 gallons would be a good size for my 3 fish? I thought the guide was 20 for the first fish and 10 or 15 for the second? I know bigger is better but I assumed 50 or bigger would be a suitable size for them? Thank you I will look into getting something like that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Okay thank you! Are there any filters that you would suggest? I would probably need to order online as internal filters seem to be all I can find in my local pet stores. Due to space and funds I probably won't be able to afford a canister filter for a few months at least so what do you recommend I upgrade to in the mean time? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Thank you, I'm sure I will find some somewhere before I leave. It's the first time I have left them for longer than a day so I'm worrying Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Great thank you. Will try and find some moss balls before I leave for my holiday. I don't really trust any one else to feed them. Will they be ok left for a full week? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. So I went to my local pet store a few days ago and purchased some Anubis plants as they were the only plants there that I knew where suitable for goldfish tanks. The only reason for buying them was because I'm going on holiday for a week and heard that the goldfish will sometimes eat the plants as I have no one to feed them while I'm gone. I placed them in the tank in the small plastic pots which they came in but they obviously just float onto their side with them being so lightweight. I've decided I actually like the look of some plants in my tank and was wondering what's the best way of keeping plants in a bare bottom tank? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I have 3 goldfish around 2 or 3 inches in a 30 gallon tank. I know it's overstocked I am currently waiting on a new tank for them. The tank has been set up for about 2 months now however the beneficial bacteria came from a previous tank which had been cycled for 6 months before hand. I say cycled I assume it's as close as I can get it as I have never been able to get my ammonia to 0. It always looks to be between 0 and .25. My nitrite is always at 0 and nitrate 20. Do you have any tips on getting my ammonia to 0? I should probably add that I do 2 water changes a week usually 50% sometime 75% Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. This redness around my goldfish's mouth appeared yesterday and I'm not sure what I can do to treat it. My tank started a mini cycle about a week ago so I've been trying to do a water change everyday however, missed one day unfortunately. I've added prime to the water when doing a change. Is the redness from the ammonia and nitrite spike? Is there anything I can do other than daily water changes to help it heal quicker? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I will be upgrading my tank in a couple of days and once it is cycled will be adding another goldfish. I currently have 2 fantails and I'm debating on what to get next. My local pet stores frequently have ranchu, orandas, fantails and black Moor so at first I was thing of getting an oranda. However I visited a new pet shop a few days ago and then had young pearl scales which I'm assuming are pretty rare to come across in local pet stores as it's the first time I have ever actually seen one. I know that pearlscales are generally more fragile than fantails and if it would be too risky to add to my tank. I don't want it to be bullied or always having to compete for food. I was also wondering if there was a reason that all of the oranda at the stores don't seem to have developed a wen yet. Even the larger ones? Do you think it just has to do with a poor diet? Any advice on the kind of goldfish you think I should get would be greatly appreciated or your experiences with different types Than you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Hi everyone I currently own 2 small fantails but I'm upgrading my tank in the next few months once I have saved enough money and I'm hoping to add a third fancy. I know about star fisheries in the uk and that they will ship to me however I have heard mixed stories about fish coming from there so would also like to explore more options. Other than Pets at home which is a big NO, I only know of one other local pets store near Newcastle where I could get my fish. They are are great store and take great care of their fish but Their goldfish section is very limited. In terms of health I think I know what to look out for but if I was to go to the pet store what would I be looking out for in terms of quality of a fantail? Also if anyone has any other suggestions of breeders in the uk willing to ship or even stores in the north east region which they would recommend. Thank you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. Yeah I have a new tank on the way I was given them at such short notice and the one that they were given in is definitely not big enough. I can't wait to see them grow more. The rounder one want even an inch when I got him and had a thick black stripe down his spine and onto his tail but if disappeared within a couple of weeks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
