  1. Hello all I have a 60 gallon tank with three fancies who are about a year old- a fantail, a black moor and a red capped oranda the tank has two filters an Aquaclear 110 and an Eheim 2213 The tank also has some driftwood and some plants, and I plan to get caves for the plecos Could anyone please let me know if I can add 1. a school of 7 WCMM (worried that the goldfish might eat them) and 2. two BN plecos, 3cm each (again more afraid of goldfish eating them, rather than the plecos latching on to the gold fish). I hope the filtration would be adequate to meet their needs thank you in advance
  2. Zucchini is zucchini here my fry do look pale compared to their parents Do they colour up as they age?
  3. thanks for your replies Glad to report that I now don't have to squint as much to see my fry What else can I feed them If I don't get algae wafers?
  4. I've started off with a 26L planted tank for a betta Got an albino betta in the cycled tank, along with five cherry red shrimp. The betta died in 48 hours, don't really know why. While it was there it seemed interesting in the shrimp. I haven't gotten around to replacing my betta but the five shrimp have added eight to the brood. My original plan was to feed the betta and let the shrimp live off the crumbs and the biofilm Once the betta left, I was feeding the shrimp flake twice a week and some one pea. Any ideas as to what I need to feed the fry ? I will be getting algal discs on the weekend. Also since the fry are so tiny, what's the best way to use a gravel vac? I was thinking stocking over, but is there a chance I could crush the fry between the stocking and the substrate. Lastly I am planning to add some crystal red shrimp to the tank, would the two types cross breed or breed exclusively Thanks in advance
  5. How did you go with your new plant? Hi docians! Yah it went good, no reactions from anyone... and the plants stayed put! So far they have only been tasted.... occasionally... hopefully I am feeding them enough not to have them devoured... Here are some photos, only they turned out really blue. I have to sort out how to use my camera one day! Crested java fern Standard java fern Nice Did you get your plants online? Yep, I got them from a young bloke named Luke. He is just starting out I think. I was really happy with his plants! He has mainly java ferns at the moment, but is looking to get some more stock in. Ill PM you his site if you like. :-) Yes thanks I do need more plants and the last one I picked from my LFS gave me free snails
  6. My male guppy is a bright yellow snake skin... and he shapes up to anything... even the neon tetras when I had them... so I guess that could be an issue. He never fin nipped the tetras, just kind of herded them. I might just wait a while longer and get a couple more bright guppys if the betta isn't an option at the moment. I would love to get one from this site... they have some amazing looking bettas! https://www.facebook.com/groups/254487271381271/?fref=nf Thanks Ree Do they have a website? I'm not on FB so I can't access your link

  8. Would leave the difficult ones to the experts but from what I've read if your betta is placid you should be fine. If your male guppy has bright colours he could be mistaken for a rival. Perhaps when you get your betta in a bag put the sealed bag in the tank. When the other fishies come to explore if the betta begins flaring up, it could mean trouble BTW Ree where do you look for bettas online?

  10. I'm no expert but there is no 'hump'- so fantail perhaps I love the way she blends into the sandy back ground
  11. A tumour is an abnormal growth. It can be benign ie non cancerous, and usually slow growing. Or malignant or cancerous, and usually rapidly growing. A wart is a benign tumour caused by a virus. But not every tumour is a wart

  16. I've spotted these fish being sold as red cap oranda's they are 5cm in size so obviously it will be a while before they develop their wens Could it be possible that they are in fact red cap fantails? and that they will never develop wens What do you guys think ? http://s376.photobucket.com/user/docians/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsrylq3ntd.jpg.html?o=1 http://s376.photobucket.com/user/docians/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpscv2wtrnh.jpg.html?o=0 thank you
  17. Was planning on ordering this sinking pellet for goldfish it is cheaper than other brands I guess because it is a home brand http://www.thetechden.com.au/product_p/gc225-1mm-colourfp.htm Question is it contains canthaxanthin which is an E number food colourant Any idea if that is good for goldfish? Should I avoid this? Advice appreciated as always

  21. Thanks for your help too Sharon. Working really well Emptying the tank takes ten minutes Refilling is a bit more tricky As on the lowest setting the pump empties the bucket faster than I can fill it Next stop buy a bigger bucket
