  1. Oh and it's a bit late now but after rereading the last few responses I realized I forgot to answer you about prime, yes I do have prime, I use it for my water conditioner.
  2. OK sounds good, so I'll just keep doing them daily for now and reporting the test results. Thank you for your help.
  3. I looks like my cycle might be starting to get stronger, but I have also drastically cut down feeding until the cycle catches up too. If this is the wrong thing to do please let me know. Also Lily's antibiotics should be here tomorrow should I pull her out and start the Epsom salt and antibiotics in qt tomorrow or wait until the water issue is solved? Also Stripes has a small white spot on his head that appeared the day I found the cycle broken. It's a small spot that has remained same size etc.. and not fuzzy, just looks like someone touched his head with some white-out. Does he need the antibiotics as well or wait and see if it clears up on its own with the cycle?
  4. OK today's results before the water change. Ammonia .25 Nitrite 0 Nitrates 5.0 PH. 7.8
  5. Refilling the tank now, it ended up being more than 50% because I was distracted with the tests. Around 75. The results from before the water change just now was. Ammonia .5 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 2.5 PH 7.8 This doesn't make sense to me.... The last test was yesterday morning and the only change I'm seeing is a drop in ammonia but no raise in nitrates or anything.... In 30 hours? Should I test again after the tank refills from the change? Sorry for the late response I was in therapy with the little one earlier.
  6. I'm a bit worried about the ammonia in the water. Can someone tell me if it's OK to do the water changes to take care of it?
  7. Just checking in, these guys are doing well so far. Showing remarkable improvement.
  8. Oh and if it's relevant I do have well water with a salt based water softener.
  9. Thanks Shakaho, I can get my husband to do the tests when I can't no problem, I just have to wait till he's home from work. Today's readings Tap Ammonia, 0 nitrite 0, nitrate 0, pH around 6.8 -7 Tank Ammonia 1.0, nitrite 0, nitrate 2.5, pH 7.8. My first instinct is to water change but the pH is a big gap. What do you suggest?
  10. Thanks Helen. Think daily water changes is going to be enough until the cycle is back? Or should I plan for more often?.
  11. Keep in mind these are immediately after two 90% changes so they are a bit disoriented
  12. Here's the pics, video will be a few minutes. She isn't pineconed thank God but as you can see she has an eye pocket. <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160305_215606_zpsr8b5rhjc.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160305_215606_zpsr8b5rhjc.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160305_215606_zpsr8b5rhjc.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160305_215614_zpsoaok3rsg.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160305_215614_zpsoaok3rsg.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160305_215614_zpsoaok3rsg.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160305_215637_zpswrz5i8u7.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160305_215637_zpswrz5i8u7.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160305_215637_zpswrz5i8u7.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160305_215829_zpso5oawa80.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160305_215829_zpso5oawa80.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160305_215829_zpso5oawa80.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160305_220300_zpsp9agpiwh.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160305_220300_zpsp9agpiwh.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160305_220300_zpsp9agpiwh.jpg"/></a><a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160305_220340_zpsdibjme06.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160305_220340_zpsdibjme06.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160305_220340_zpsdibjme06.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160305_220414_zpssdf2gmh8.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160305_220414_zpssdf2gmh8.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160305_220414_zpssdf2gmh8.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160305_220519_zpsu67ejygq.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160305_220519_zpsu67ejygq.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160305_220519_zpsu67ejygq.jpg"/></a>
  13. I hope so, there was some nitrates present so it shouldn't be completely broken, I didn't get an exact number since as soon as I saw the ammonia coming through I started changing the water and didn't pay much attention to the rest of the test, hopefully the two more sponges will seed it decently as well. For lily, do I want to isolate her now or wait until the meds come in? Amazon says Wednesday but it usually comes quicker
  14. It's been retested, my cycle is shot. I'm refilling from the first change now, planning to do a second. I pulled 2 more sponges out of another tank and put in. I specifically tested 1 and 3 days after the meds to make sure my cycle was OK and it was fine both times. I guess it took awhile. My poor babies.
  15. It's ordered with prime, pretty sure my local place doesn't carry it. Pardon my language but I've had a hell of a time trying to test the water... I'm going to have to have my husband retest it when he gets home, I can't trust my hands very well plus I have a super hyper autistic toddler literally hanging on my back so I've only got the first three done. Unfortunately if I didn't mess the test up the mystery is solved. My cycle is completely broken. I had my hubby test it every few days after the meds and it was fine but now I'm showing ammonia and lots of it. I pulled a bowl of water out for hubby to retest but the tank is draining for an emergency change now. I put a sponge from my other tank in after the meds but I guess it wasn't enough. Anyway hubby will be here in half an hour, I can have accurate readings then
  16. Metro Plex or General cure? That's the ingredient in both of those right?
  17. Ok, now I'm ready to pull my hair out and cry.... Everyone was doing great and the patch on stripes is almost completely gone... Then I wake up this morning and lily has Popeye starting (fluid sack bulging on one side of one eye) and I'm seeing some veins in the tails of the others come back.... Here are my thoughts.. Either they needed more rounds of the antibiotic to begin with, or I should have used a different one to begin with? So Helen can you still bear with me? I've been do doing an 80% water change every three days. ( I'm still refinishing the 75 so they are all 4 in the 55 ATM. I do have furan 2 and kanaplex? On hand, can run out or order anything else.
  18. Ok gotcha, thank you They do seem to be feeling better today they were swimming around unclamped for a little bit
  19. So I had just put fresh prazi in yesterday for round two. Do I let that finish or pull it all out and add the general cure now?
  20. As far as antibiotics on hand I have some Tetracycline left, kanaplex and furan 2. I can run down and get some general cure or erythromycin from the store if need be. And I have amazon prime for 2 day shipping If it's not something I can find local. (Which I did just order another heater, where they were an impulse buy I didn't have one on hand yet and hadn't been too concerned without any signs of ick, didn't realize warmth would boost their immune in general.)
  21. Yeah sorry .1% Here are some pics <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/Photo%20Collage%20Maker_6VMhx8_zpsijcevcl0.png.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/Photo%20Collage%20Maker_6VMhx8_zpsijcevcl0.png" border="0" alt=" photo Photo Collage Maker_6VMhx8_zpsijcevcl0.png"/></a> <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/Photo%20Collage%20Maker_OuBIWq_zpsxhayh61m.png.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/Photo%20Collage%20Maker_OuBIWq_zpsxhayh61m.png" border="0" alt=" photo Photo Collage Maker_OuBIWq_zpsxhayh61m.png"/></a>
  22. Hi guys it's me again. My husband and I are setting up another tank, plus currently looking for one huge 180+ so when I was in the pet store last week and feel in LOVE with this teeny tiny baby goldfish... him and his companion came home with me in an impulse buy. I knew it was going to be rough sailing.... I knew he was sick from the start, he was already clamped, being continually harassed by a tank mate and sharing his home with several already passed away and severely bottom sitting tank mates. But he pulled my heart strings and I couldn't bear the thought of him either dying in there or someone buying him just to stick in a bowl... So I brought him and his friend home and pulled out a spare 20 (filled halfway for now while medicating) grabbed a sponge out of one of my healthy established tanks and into quarantine with 1% salt and prazipro and his recovery battle was started. The problem is I'm out of top level tank stands so for observation on him I have to be laying on a cold concrete floor in my basement and with my own health problems I haven't been able to monitor him as closely as I should. The observations I've seen are for the first week (had them a week today) they have both been extremely skiddish running and hiding behind the sponges. So hard to tell if they are bottom sitting severely or just afraid I'm the goldfish monster coming to snack on them. They have both been clamped. He has a split/frayed tail but so far clean edges still. At least one of them has been eating because some and eventually all of the food I was putting in was disappearing. There are a mixture of healthy poops and white and hollow poops in the tank (not sure who is who or both) Both have very red gills Starting to see some redness at the base of their "arm fins" sorry I always forget proper anatomy names. Today I am finally starting to see some improvement in his tank mate, the white matte scale which seems to be doing much better now, is unclamping today and both came out to eat in front of me today!! I'm noticing a definite growth in size from the white matte guy, not so much from this guy. And today when he was hiding behind the sponges he darted out to grab a bite of food... And immediately start to act like he was choking. My first thought was the pellet was too big but afterwards he actually came out while I was laying there and when his mouth did go back into a rest position it looked odd like it was only half closing. Every so often he would start yawning again and grab some more food but even as he was grabbing more food he still held his mouth odd and would yawn and breathe excessively. Keep in mind his is very and very shy so it's quite had to get a good look. My initial plan was to start the second prazipro/salt round today. In light of this should I go with levisole/furan 2 and kanaplex instead? And pick up the prazi next week? Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level - 0 * Nitrite Level - 0 * Nitrate level - 0 10< * Ammonia Level(Tap) * Nitrite Level(Tap) * Nitrate level(Tap) * Ph Level, Tank 6.6 * Ph Level, Tap Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops?
