  1. Lol poor baby! Mine get curious (mine is the Aqueon version BTW and it's awesome if you need a new one) and they will poke around it, but never have got close enough to stick!
  2. Hi Helen! I know you have to be so sick of me by now. I'm just checking in. The cycle is back going strong, my pH balance continues to be steady. Stripes is thriving after 2 salt dips (he took the second better but still only lasted a couple minutes) Lily has been in her metroplex and Epson salt QT for the two weeks now and she seems 100% healthy except for the fluid pocket at her eye. It hasn't changed in size still either way. I put her back "home" this morning. I'm at the point where I'm thinking wait and see before doing anything else but I wanted your opinion. If you think I should start another treatment please let me know. I have the metroplex, furan 2, kanaplex, levisole, prazipro, jungle parasite Guard etc on hand and can order or buy anything else if I need too. I'll be posting a new video soon as it uploads. It shows them all swimming happily and toward the end it has a good view of Lily's eye.
  3. So as an Easter surprise for my husband since he banned me from buying any more living Fish and he has been wanting more varieties of plecos... I ordered him 2 plush plecos complete with suction cups on their mouth I hope they are as cute as they look! http://www.greenpleco.com/Plecos.html
  4. That's how I ended up eating a healthy luch of hot pockets!
  5. So I'm going to jump in here with a super cheap diy lid. It's greenhouse roofing material you can buy from any Lowes or home depot. I paid I think 30$ for one sheet and made lids for 2 40b tanks, one 20long tank and 2 10gallon lids. You can buy the foam pieces for the side for another like 5$. And silicone them on. The stuff is lightweight, plastic type of material and can be cut with regular scissors, and for someone like me with neurological damage to not have to deal with breakable glass is awesome. I cut a small square out to drop food in and since they are greenhouse roofing panels all the light needed gets through to your plants. Please excuse the mess in my basement ???? <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160229_134506753_zpsb3swob2y.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160229_134506753_zpsb3swob2y.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160229_134506753_zpsb3swob2y.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160229_134412693_zpsspcvaixu.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160229_134412693_zpsspcvaixu.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160229_134412693_zpsspcvaixu.jpg"/></a>
  6. I hope y'all don't mind but I'm going to jump in here! So my husband decided to name my new large oranda rescue and my small white baby fantail.... They are now known as Pinky and the Brain!
  7. Thanks everyone, I'm very excited about giving this guy a new chance at life after the rough 7 years he/she has already had. And yes I agree I think he will be beautiful once he is healed! He is just in such bad shape right now my heart goes out to him.
  8. So our Petco is in an area we don't go to alot unless for a specific need like the 1$ per gallon sale etc.. So yesterday when we were in the area we stopped in. In the middle of the fish section in the large eye-catching custom display tank there were huge signs put up. Adoption first! Special adoption pricing of 15$ In the tank under these signs was a large oranda who looks like absolute poop. After I hear the guy working the section turn away a guy wanting to buy that oranda because "he wouldn't feel comfortable selling him to someone with that small size tank" my husband and I struck up a conversation with the guy. Turns out this poor 7 year old oranda had been turned in (against the stores usual policy) infested with anchor worm and fresh out of a 40 gallon tank where he had spent the last 7 years living with 2 common plecos, over a dozen other goldfish, and various other community tropicals.. He has massive fin damage, horrible blood streaking and sores, plus his color is so faded... The other surrenders were all adopted but because this guy looked so bad he had been there for over a month with only manual anchor worm removal and salt water per Petco policy. After talking with the guy he asked my husband and I if we would take him and heal him up and he would even drop the price down to 5$ just to see him in a good home. So I may still be learning every day but I now have a 7 year old rescue in my QT, thanks to the efforts to save and protect him by one really great Petco employee who genuinely cared. He is currently in QT with his first Tetra Parasite Guard treatment. <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160320_163737556_zpsjbo0jzto.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160320_163737556_zpsjbo0jzto.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160320_163737556_zpsjbo0jzto.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160320_164035807_zpsqut7oxyg.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160320_164035807_zpsqut7oxyg.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160320_164035807_zpsqut7oxyg.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160320_164056125_zpsxlsr6ccj.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160320_164056125_zpsxlsr6ccj.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160320_164056125_zpsxlsr6ccj.jpg"/></a>
  9. It's one of the 120 long tanks. 60x18x26. Right now I really only use bio filtration, on my 55 I have 2 aquaclear 70 with double biomax and no carbon and a double barrel sponge filter. As far as looks I paint the back of my tanks black as well as any tubes so I don't mind them showing, once painted they aren't very noticeable. I am interested in more info on the diy pond filter, I've seen some threads about some with the planted buckets and they are beautiful how they have the fountain effect... The area the tank is in is carpeted though, is there any splash out of the tank? Also my only other concern with that is the bucket being outside the tank and accessible to the Toddler. If I go with the Aqueon, what is the preferred custom media?
  10. I'm setting up a new tank I just picked up. It's a 120 long. What kind of filtration system can I set up on it for both a good function and budget choice? I'm tempted to pick up a couple aquaclear 110s and call it a day. I have a very active Toddler so whatever I use can't be accessible outside of the bottom cabinet.
  11. This little guy I thought was recovered, he was unclamped, swimming around, eating and his mouth looked normal again... Then yesterday he took a sudden nosedive. When I woke he was being blown around by the airstone on his side, his mouth was back caved in and he passed shortly after The white one still looks well.
  12. Ok I'll keep trying. How often do I do it? Daily?
  13. Stripes can NOT handle the salt dips. I had him in for a minute and he was unable to right himself. He tried several times and then went back on his side and was severely gasping. When his breathing started getting shallow I pulled him out and put him in the recovery bucket where he was able to right himself. During the salt dip for the minute he was in however I was able to see red patches on his belly and under his chin
  14. Thanks Helen, just waiting for my husband to get home to start them..... I'm really ready to throw my hands up right now. To wake up and find Stripes bottom sitting and clamped again.... It feels like it's never going to end. His tummy is starting to look red again now too. The only thing I did differently to the main tank was add in some new plants I bought but I dipped them in pp first.
  15. <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160314_083804_zpsfh9mk8oh.jpg.htmlhttp%3A/s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160314_083756_zpskanu2hqu.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160314_083804_zpsfh9mk8oh.jpg.htmlhttp%3A/s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160314_083756_zpskanu2hqu.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160314_083756_zpskanu2hqu.jpg"/></a><a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160314_083818_zpszdbeyle1.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160314_083818_zpszdbeyle1.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160314_083818_zpszdbeyle1.jpg"/></a>Here is Lily. <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160314_083756_zpskanu2hqu.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160314_083756_zpskanu2hqu.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160314_083756_zpskanu2hqu.jpg"/></a> She is eating, active, not clamped at all, in fact the only sign of anything wrong is that swelling at her eye...Meanwhile in the main tain Stripes has started bottom sitting, and clamped up tightly with peeling slime coat on his belly where the red bloody patch used to be... But the white film/ spot is almost gone(I'm starting his salt dips unless advised otherwise)
  16. Lily has had two rounds of metroplex and Epson salt now, over a 4 day period. After the first 48 hours since she is in an uncycled qt I changed her water and gave her two measures of the metroplex back into the water and replaced the epsom salt. I'm not seeing any changes in her. She isn't worse but she isn't any better either. Tonight how much of the meds do I put back in with her? Should I be seeing some change by now?
  17. Tonight's readings Ammonia under .25 (can barely see any green) Nitrite 0 Nitrate 2.5 Ph 7.8
  18. So far no change with Lily. When should I start seeing the swelling go down you think?
  19. OK I don't mind cosmetically, I was just worried if it was a sign of a bad problem with him too. Thanks.
  20. And Choji has some spots on his tail, should I be worried?<a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160309_203653-picsay_zps2avs5l2h.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160309_203653-picsay_zps2avs5l2h.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160309_203653-picsay_zps2avs5l2h.jpg"/></a> Looks almost like scabs hanging off of it
  21. Poor little Lily looks so lonely in her qt! <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160309_2021122_zps9piarw22.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160309_2021122_zps9piarw22.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160309_2021122_zps9piarw22.jpg"/></a>She has the Epson salt and metroplex in with her. Today's tests were Ammonia between 0 and .25Nitrite 0Nitrate 5Ph 7.8
  22. I was having trouble getting a clear shot of stripes new spot, where the old ones were like kind of a mist and see through, this one is a solid white spot right over his eye. So here is a video from this morning. I'll put lily in the qt soon as the hubby gets home and the meds are here. For stripes I only have one 10 gallon left for lily after a few impulse buys. Can the dips be done in a smaller container? If not I'll go pick up another 10 tonight
