  1. So I grow duckweed in a few of my other tanks specifically to feed my golds with. I usually feed them a good xllarge nets scoop worth. Of course every time I do there is a poop-splosion in the tank. How often do you guys like to feed duckweed? So far I've been feeding it once a week on the night before a WC so I can get the "mess" out the next day.
  2. I have that same three gallon tank and won't even use it for one of my bettas... It's a QT/show bowl for me. I feel so so sorry for those poor Fish.
  3. Thank you, I've made my fair share of mistakes but I'm certainly trying
  4. Hi guys, I'm posting an update on "The Brain" (Pinky is in the tank too!) You may remember this girl's story. She was taken into Petco after living for 7 years in a massively and severely overstocked tank, ate up with anchor worms and ammonia poisoning. My local Petco asked my husband and I to take her and help her. She has been through all of her parasite treatments and antibiotics and was able to join the others in the move to the 120 tank She still has some red veins in her tail but her scales have almost all grown back, her scabs are almost completely gone and she is happy to be with other Goldie's after so long in QT! In fact I think her and Choji have formed quite the courtship once they established who was wearing the fins in the relationship! Please excuse the tank, everything is still settling from a water change. <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160426_211407_zpszc9vgryj.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160426_211407_zpszc9vgryj.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160426_211407_zpszc9vgryj.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160426_211409_zpsboi2jfei.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160426_211409_zpsboi2jfei.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160426_211409_zpsboi2jfei.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160426_211452_zpssyunct0n.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160426_211452_zpssyunct0n.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160426_211452_zpssyunct0n.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160426_211612_zpsdjvm8orb.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160426_211612_zpsdjvm8orb.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160426_211612_zpsdjvm8orb.jpg"/></a>
  5. Awesome guy! Almost every Fish I have started out as a "pity" Fish lol. They are beautiful in their own right always This guy is quite a looker though!
  6. OK thanks Koko. Pinky's sore is already almost healed already. I can barely see where it was. I'll start the baths today
  7. 2.5 gallon or I have a 1 gallon container I could use
  8. I ordered the exact same stuff you linked me, I think it was 50. I have a 2.5 bowl I can use
  9. How many drops do I need for the baths?
  10. OK yeah, those were my thoughts too. I wanted some confirmation though. If I had my guess with Lily's eye... I'm prone to think maybe a tumor from bad breeding. I knew she was a cull when I got her, hence the flipped Gill plates and the badly kinked tail. She has also always been weak and puny compared to the others. But I want to do anything I can to help her. Thank you so much Koko. The silver should be here today so I'll start the baths. Oh and the sore on Pinky's tail is almost gone now
  11. OK it's ordered, it will be here Friday. Thank you very much. So it's OK to move them all into the new big tank already without them infecting it? I'm very anxious to get them more room.
  12. Sorry one more question, can I put the fish in the new 120 now? Or just put the healthy ones in? Or do I need to treat the whole current tank?
  13. Can you happen to recommend where to buy it? I'm having issues finding it.
  14. Oh our vacations aren't quite the traditional lol. The hubby takes a week off work and we both bust our butts getting various renos/ projects done in the new house we bought two years ago. This "vacation" he built a king size headboard for our bed, stripped and refinished our dining room table, pulled carpet up out of the family room and tiled the floor for the new Goldie tank and made the new tank stand.... So yeah we usually need a vacation from our vacation
  15. Tap levels, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 0 nitrate, 6.6 ph My pH in my tap fluctuates, I have well water with a softener. I try to schedule water changes on the same day every week 2 days after the softener has ran but since it's a well sometimes it's just unpredictable.
  16. Tank levels, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate, pH 7.4.I'll get tap in a few. Photos are above Shako's post. Here is a video as well. Don't be alarmed by the shrill scream at the beginning the kiddo was a little excited
  17. Treatment and symptom summary I think I got the dates right January 30 began 2 weeks of prazipro and .03 salt. Beginning Symptoms for treatment were red veins in fins and puffy edges on fins. All Fish acted normal. During this treatment time period, 2 Fish Lily and Stripes became very weak getting stuck on filter intakes and unable to swim. Stripes developed red patches on stomach. All 4 Fish were very badly clamped and bottom sitting. _--------- Feb 14 some fish started showing beginning bulging of eyes and Treatment was switched to Tetracycline for one week. During this week all Fish improved dramatically and by the end of the week became stronger and active with good appetites. One Fish Stripes however developed a thick white film coating during the Tetracycline treatment on his head that very slowly spread across his head. He was observed for a few weeks while it seemed to fade. ----------- March 5, I discover my cycle broke from the Tetracycline, I do every other day water changes and tests until it gets caught up. March 5 Lily also develops an eye blister overnight that looks like a small fluid filled blister on only one side of one eye. She is placed into a quarantine for two weeks with metro and Epson salt. No change occurs at all. March 8 Stripes begans getting salt dips because the white film comes back. _----------- March 22 Lily goes back to main tank, no change in eye blister, Stripes responded well to salt dips, and Pinky the new little white fish comes out of quarantine (where he had a week and prazi and a week of general cure antibiotics) and joing the tank. ----------- March 29, I notice an increase of yawning, some flashing, and Stripes white film comes back a third time. I treat first dose with tetra parasite guard ---------- March 29 Stripes and Pinky are weak. Stripes has red angry patches in joint areas and peeling slime coat, bottom sitting, clamped. March 30- Pinky and others are fine, Lily is the same, Stripes looks terrible but is stronger and not clamped, March 31 - I administer second tetra parasite guard treatment. 4 Fish have no reaction. Lily's eye still the same. Stripes looks worse appearance wise, more slime coat chunking off, more red angry areas, acts a bit weak. April 1 stripes regains his strength again, red patches fade, I salt dip him again. April 2 administer 3rd parasite guard treatment. All Fish show almost no reaction. Stripes shows some slight redness nothing else, acts healthy, his slime coat stabalized, tail was left a bit frayed but doing well. ---------- April 9 administer week after follow up tetra parasite guard treatment. All Fish seem fine, no reaction. ----------- April 10 that night I find Lily's eye blister changes, becomes bigger, looks more white and lumpy. I see thin string looks like a strip of slime coat breathing in and out of her mouth. Pinky develops a sore, raised, red at base, yellowish protruding, white fuzzy tip.
  18. So I wasn't sure if I needed to start a new thread or not... _------ Since this post had left off... Stripes' super thick white scaley slime coat had came back and I noticed some yawnin/flashing starting with all of them. Since I had gotten new plants back in march when all this started happening... even though I dipped them, I treated the tank with 3 treatments (one every 48 hours) of tetra parasite guard, waited a week and treated them again on Saturday. The morning after the first parasite guard treatment Stripes started looking like total crap, super clamped, swimming too buoyant and weak, his heavy thick slime coat started bulging and coming off in chunks, angry raw red areas began showing all over his body especially in "crease" areas where fins meet body etc. And the little white guy named "pinky" was definitely swimming weakly. By the second treatment 48 hours later pinky was fine and active no other visable effects. Stripes' reaction continued to do the same but there were even more severe raw areas showing and still more slime coat chunks peeling. He was however gaining strength and swimming strongly by this point though. For the third treatment Stripes hardly reacted at all. There were a few light red areas show but not much, he was swimming well, unclamped, active and eating. (Between treatments Stripes was getting salt dips as well) Lily's eye was still the exact same with the liquid looking blister on the one side, Choji and Ino was as usual completely healthy and acting like nothing is going on through all of it. Stripes was now acting like a champ. Pinky had doubled his size and was growing well. I spent the next week on our "vacation" helping build the stand and remodel our family room for their new 120 gallon home. During this week I was so busy I just threw food and checked on them first thing in the morning but that was it. Come Saturday it was time for the week after follow up treatment of the tetra parasite guard, I saw minimal affects from it on any of the fish. Then late Saturday night I had to steal the light off the tank to move to the new 120. New tank was filled yesterday and sat up ready for them... I was just giving time for the parasite guard to finish before I moved them into the new tank... Then late last night when I went to feed them before bed I brought in a crappy light and put on their tank and saw Lily's eye blister is now whiteish in color and getting a bit bigger with a lumpy quality to it. Neither my husband or I have enough feeling in our hands to tell if it feels soft and squishy or firm. I noticed she also had a fine thin strip blowing in and out of her mouth when she was eating. Also the little white guy Pinky developed an open sore/ulcer type spot near his tail base. It was raised, red and angry at the base, yellow bits bulging out, with a white cottony top on it. Between Saturday afternoon when i put the weekly follow up of tetra parasite guard treatment and late last night on Sunday both of these fish developed these symptoms. Again as usual Choji and Ino and fine. Stripes was a little clamped for awhile during the treatment but not anymore and seems fine. _----------- I already spot treated Pinky's sore with peroxide. But I'm just not sure what the next step should be. I'm afraid it's culminarious (SP) The new 120 is ready for them to go in today but do I treat them in the 55 first so I don't infect the new tank? Do I treat them all or do I put Choji and Ino and Stripes in the new tank and only treat lily and pinky? What do I treat them with? Lily has already spent two weeks in metro and epsom with no results and the parasite guard has metro in it as well. <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160411_071154_zpsvlo857o6.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160411_071154_zpsvlo857o6.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160411_071154_zpsvlo857o6.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160411_071151_zpsyevj6dxz.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160411_071151_zpsyevj6dxz.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160411_071151_zpsyevj6dxz.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s1081.photobucket.com/user/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160411_071132_zpscnfwoe1p.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1081.photobucket.com/albums/j347/Sereya_Dawn_Sims/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160411_071132_zpscnfwoe1p.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20160411_071132_zpscnfwoe1p.jpg"/></a>
  19. Ooh awesome thanks! (Sorry for the delay, been on vacation)

  21. Thank you Helen, couldn't have done it without you.
  22. I ordered mine from Amazon and the Aqueon runs around 30$ for the 25' while the python runs 50$ for their 25'. The Aqueon had better reviews from people who had used both at that time and said the python was prone to leaks so I ordered it. I can't say personally because I've never used a Python but I truly love the Aqueon one. They also have a lifetime warranty,It's seen very heavy use as we have many multiple large tanks over the past year and when a valve started to wear out we emailed aqueon and they mailed an entire replacement valve unit two days later.
