  2. Oops. Can't edit my last post. Hi Koko. Thanks for the reply. He is in a 10 gallon hospital tank now and we are raising salinity to 3% over 2 days. So just observe with the salt for now? Appreciate the help.

I know it seems like a lot of fish but my dad is upgrading to a 90 gallon in few weeks and he is giving me one of his ranchu! Also i didn't get a chance to test his water but we are in the same area and mine is ammonia 0ppm, 0 nitrites and 0-5ppm nitrates. Also the eheim is rated to 300 gallon tanks. It has 6 gallon capacity for water and 12 litres of capacity for media. Thanks for any help. http://vid29.photobucket.com/albums/c254/rookiespey/Goldfish/20160417_145216.mp4
  4. Ok very cool. Gotcha. Glad you all are doing this. It'll be an invaluable tool for us gf keepers! Ed <')))><
  5. Thanks Taryl. It was more a post to see if you considered the Hex as medicated food and if you wanted any info in regards to the product. To see if the results were needed if positive. I should've been more clear.
  6. Hi all. Not sure if this food counts but I just picked up NLS Hex Shield. Read the ingredients and it has metronidazole. My black ranchu looks to have puffy eyes...not sure if it's the start of popeye. Let me know what you think and if it's info you could use.
  7. I have had renas, fluvals and eheims. I prefer eheims. Just a personal preference thing. They are all great. To be honest though, I found the Eheims quieter. I thought it was just the fan boys saying that when I read the reviews. It really was true in my opinion. My air pump is louder than my canister. The aqua clear may go to soon as the water falling is loud where it is. I have to stick my ear next to it to hear it. The eheims have less flow but more media. I read it was for longer contact with the media. They also use less power. Here is an example. Here are the specs on my 2075: For Tank Size: 600 l (160 gallons) Pump Output: 1250 ltr/hr (330 gal/hr) Canister Volume: 9.2 ltr (2.42 g) Delivery Head: 1.8m Filter Volume: 6 ltr + 0.5 (pre-filter) (1.7 g) Power Consumption: 16 watts I just got back from vacation. I have a 80 gallon tank with an eheim pro3 2075, aqua clear 70 (I use strictly for mechanical/water polishing). I have 5 goldfish ranging from 5" - 3" bodies only and 3 plecos (3", 1", 1"). I came back after 2 weeks with ammonia at 0, nitrites 0 and Nitrate high around 30 due to no water changes. All the fish were happy and healthy...phew! I was more than happy with the performance! I also have the 2217 classic with I've had for 2 years and my buddy had before me running for 6 years relegated to back up. But to this day, never a leak and still running beautifully. People complain about how difficult it is to clean due to not having baskets. I remedied that by using mesh bags for the ceramic rings and another for the ceramic balls. Takes the same amount of time if not less than the my pro3 to clean. The classics are much more affordable in the eheim line up and come with media as well. They are known for almost zero bypass due to the design. I also point my spray bar at the glass 45* down for a slight current but not enough to bother my fish. I clean my filter every 4 months. Since it is for bio only I use a sponge pre filter and it stays clean a lot longer. Hope this helps. Just another point of view. I read online reviews for many filters and just said forget it, I'll try diff ones lol. I love techy stuff like the different filter comparisons. I even watched a tonne for youtube filter reviews just because. * Oh yeah forgot to say I have heard great stuff about the sunsun filters. Best bang for the buck. Only issue i have read was the baskets warping from the UV light if you get that model.
  8. I use a filter intake sponge stuffed into my python with a filter sock 200 over top. Way less bubbles. I also keep my filters off for 15 mins to let the water sit. I found if i turned my aqua clear on right away the splashing caused more micro bubbles so I run my Eheim canister filter fist to help with gas exchange then turn my hob filter on 30 mins after the water change is complete. In my area it's the temp change and pressure that causes the micro bubbles/gas exchange. I was clueless until I noticed the slime coat coming off my fish from the micro bubbles. Only happens in the winter. Hope this helps.
  9. Hi. Not sure if this is to late but in my 80 gallon I use a heater controller I got from eBay. It is an Atc-300, it was pretty inexpensive. I use it with my Eheim 300w heater. Keeps everything stable. Has two plugs. #1 is for the heater controller and #2 is for a timer like lights. Has a neat display as the head part of the unit isn't that large. The display is in celsius and the little temp probe is the one with the white suction cup.
  10. I'd be interested to know as well. I have the same issue with the same size siphon on my Python. I even use the Eheim vacuum but it still won't pick up the poop. I believe it's from the fish ingesting the sand and mixing in their poop. Makes it heavy. Never had this issue with gravel.
  11. One more day of metro an my Ranchu is done the meds. No sign of improvement. ???? Thanks for the help everyone. Glad to know I've tried everything.
  12. Oh and there are more spots this am.
  13. Ok thx Helen and Koko. Should I dose the tank? At under 2" will a smaller container say 4-5 gallons work as a hospital tank? Just trying to finaggle space for another qt tank. Taryl got me thinking I should probably separate the ranchu. ????
  14. Good to hear. I'll keep and eye on him. Hard to get a better pic as he won't sit still. Thanks.
  15. Hi Taryl. I don't have anymore room for a hospital tank. I already have one set up for my other Ranchu with sbd. I have salt, epsom salt, furan 2, kanaplex, metroplex, melafix, prazi
