  1. Thank you both for replying. Why won't my bigger fish stop harrassing her? I mean, where is this behavior coming from? Is there something I can do about that while keeping them both in one tank? The thing is that only my smallest fish, which is the one eyed, is the only one which is being harassed. I added her about 6 months ago. The main tank holds 300L water and they are usually 4 of them inside along with 2 nerites and 1 ramshorn snail. Also I have no space for another 20g tank to keep them separated. ?
  2. Hello eveyone! A week ago my fish's eye got eaten by one of my bigger fish. Since then she has been in QT in a 10 gal tank. We've been doing daily water changes dosed with 0.1% salt ever since and her wound has healed up nicely. There has been no sign of any infection or any other alarming symptoms. She has always been her active self. Now I've got a couple questions. - How long will her wound take to heal completely? - For how long should we continue with the salt? - Would you advise me to release her to the main tank with the fish, which has eaten her eye and has kept harassing her to release eggs? (She has released eggs on a regular basis in the past due to his butt nudging.) - If yes, when should I put her back? Here is a video of her during today's water change: Thank you for your help.
  3. I'm sorry. I found this just now: http://www.kokosgoldfish.invisionzone.com/forum/index.php?/topic/94546-on-the-use-of-salt/ Thank you anyway.
  4. Hello everyone! I’m going to start my first Prazi Pro treatment ever tomorrow and just wanted to make sure, that I’ve understood the measurements according to this http://www.kokosgoldfish.invisionzone.com/forum/index.php?/topic/105076-schedules-for-the-treatment-of-flukes-etc-using-praziquantel/ correctly, since I’m working with the metric system. I’m working with a 280 L tank. So,… 1 gal = 3,8 L Dosage of salt 5 gal = 19 L 19 L = 1 Tbs salt 280 L = 15 Tbs salt Dosage of prazipro 1 tsp per 20 gal 20 gal = 76 L 280 L = 4 tsp I know it may be easy for others. I just want to do everything right, because 15 Tbs salt sounds a lot to me. Thank you for your help!
  5. Thanks for your input, Morgan! I have to think of alternatives now. Maybe I'll re-home some them.
  6. That helps a lot. I'm going to set up a 2.5 gal. tank for them now. Thanks for your prompt reply!
  7. I currently have 6 apple snails living with my goldies. Ever since I've gone bare bottom, they seem to be upset. Especially my zebra apple snails, which used to burry themselves in the sand. Besides, with the sand gone my goldies have been picking on them. I've been thinking of moving them, but I've been wondering how many liters of water the six of them need. I also would set up a small filter for them to keep NH4, NO2 and NO3 in check. Any suggestions?
  8. Amazing fish! Wish I could attend at least one of these events. Do you know any good fish stores in Tokyo or Narita?
  9. Thanks for this thread! There's always room for improvement and I still have a lot to learn. When making repashy, I add hikari or nls pellets, which I've crushed with a mortar and pestle before. I always feed them, until their mouths are stuffed.
  10. The company's statement: "In the medicine, there is a solvent included, which can serve as a food source for the beneficial bacteria. This may cause a massive growth of their population, which then may result in an oxygen deficit in the tank. Since the effect of the drug has occurred up to this point, it is therefore advisable to carry out a water change to dilute the concentration of the solvent." After researching, the solvent is supposed to be Macrogolum 300. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyethylene_glycol) So, what do you think? Thank you, Sharon!
