  1. Thanks Koko! Ill try. I feel so bad for her! Ive just checked her and she remains unchanged, but her vent is much redder. Ive just addded a further 1/4teaspoon of epsom in her 20L. Shes now in 20L with 1/2 teaspoon of epsom and a gentle airstone... Makes me just want to cry!
  2. Thanks Koko!Should i continue doing the 100% wcs every 3 to 4 days and give them a dip while they climatise still? Or just the normal 60% WC with them remaining in? Oh, another question. The tanks is bare bottom with no decorations apart from airstones. Ive bought some river sand and river rocks for them which ill bleach the rocks, and por boiling water over the well rinsed sand. But i was wondering should i leave putting these in untill aftrr the 4 weeks are up? Or can i do it now? I could add them hun... I would like you to put the silver in the tank... Something in the tank is bothering them. Hi Taryl and Koko! We have a problem. I checked fish before going to sleep at 12am, they were all ok. Moes been a little mopy, slightly leaning forward, but not enough to pull her out, and i couldnt see any other symptoms. She was swimming fine when i went to sleep, checked them at 4am as i couldnt sleep and Moes in a bad way. Shes nose standing, right side very distended, anus extremely swollen, and cant swim. Shes barely moving her gills. Her anal region is soft and spongy. See ate fine at 11.30pm. She was pooping when i turned the light out. It was a normal size poop for her, but shes always done thickish poops. I fed only amount as normal. It was alexs no float gell food. Heres photos of my poor little Moe... I have pulled her out of the tank, shes in a 40L tub half filled with quater teaspoon of epsom. She has an airstone on slow. This is her less than 24 hours ago. Swiming fine. What do i do for her? Please help me help her! I have on hand: Paraguard 500ml Polyguard 10g Kanaplex 15g Wardley promethyasul 50ml Blue planet trisulfa 15 tablets Oxymav B oxytetracycline hydrochloride 9.3g/kg Potasium permangenate Api furan 2 10 sachets Metro 20 tablets Epsom Pimafix - not sure how much i have left but can get some within a 7to10 days via post Indian almond leaves Colliodal silver

  5. Ok, just updating again so i know where im up to. 100% WC again yesterday with prazi added. One more 3 to 4 day round of prazi to go. Everyone had a silver dip of 12 drops in 4L for 30min while i did WC. They were not all in the same 4L, i had several containers for them to spread out a bit. P0dge and Pidges tails remain unchanged. Louies spots have faded somewhat. I can only clearly see 2 now whereas before there were 7. I tried to photograph these but they didnt show up on any of the photos. They are just like slimecoat thickenings id say, about 4mm or so diameter. Managed to catch a photo of the bruising type marks and veins that come and go on Pidge. Not a great photo, but you can see some of the veins along his spine below his dorsal. He also gets these around the top of his "neck" and under his chin on his upper chest. The bruisung is the red mark below the veining. This was not as bad as it has been. Its disapered 24 hours later. Something new that poped up is idk Taryl if you remember the photos i posted of Moes wenn spots? Both Moe and Curlly (the new fish) arrived with them. None of my wenned fish have ever had spots like this so i was unsure if i should be concerned. Moes spots have completely cleared. But heres a photo of what i mean on Moe... Curly has probably 5 or 6 of the same type of spots. They show exactly like above, from a hole in the wenn, then they stay like that for 4 or 5 days, then ooze white gunk for around half hour, normaly a kinda tube of white about quater to half inch long, then they just show clean or white again. Curly went through 7 day round of metro and kanaplex to treat popeye. That concluded about two weeks ago. It had no effect on the spots. The new symptom is that Tweedledee, who has never shown these spots before, and doesnt have any wenn holes, his wenn is quite smooth, is now as of yesterday showing two of the same kind of spots as Curly. They appear to be forming inside the wenn. They have slight redness around them. Ill kep an eye on them to see how it progresses. Alarm bells just rang as none of my fish, inc Tweedledee have ever had this happen in the over a year and a half ive had them. Might be nothing, but i thought i should mention it. Ive pmed Koko and im waiting to hear back from her re the silver dose for the tank. Thanks so much Taryl! Ill update again after the prazi is concluded in 3 or four days.
  6. So jealous! I waaaaaant! Send yourself to Aunty Ree Pinky! <3 <3 <3
  7. Hi, just updating so i know where im up to. Did a 100% WC and tank clean yesterday and added more prazi. Two more rounds remaining over the next week. Did a weigh in and added Belle to the main tank. We have the following in the 440L.... Louie...121g (Louies my fattyboomba adding 46g to her weight since January) p0dge...90g (way to go p0dge youve put on 2g since January ROFL) Tweedledee... 69g Belle... 65g Tweedledum...49g Curly...42g Moe...38g Pidge...16g (youve got some catching up to do Pidge!) While these guys waited to go back into their tank they had a hour long silver dip. Hopefully it might help with the splits and fluff issues on p0dges and Pidges tails. Was 12drops per 4L container. Handled it like pros! I did notice Pidges brusing was back today, so ill keep an eye on it over the next few days. Pidge and p0dges tails remain unchanged. Louie is showing the whiteish blotches in her slime coat ive noticed too. Hopefully the silver dip will help. Im considering doing daily silver dips for the remaining 7 days of their prazi treatment as i cant salt the tank. Louie and p0dge and pidge def, maybe the others too. Ill then see about silvering the tank and seeing what happens. So far other than the slight bruising on Pidge and the white marks on pidges and p0dges tails, and similar white marks on Louies body, i havent noticed any other symptoms.
  8. Awe liddleiddybiddy fishie! Sooo cute! Hes going to grow into an amazing fish! Wonder if thats still his baby colouring?
  9. WOW, Dan that looks amazing! Ill eep it in mind! We have lots of moss in the driveway! Of course i will wash it well first! Beautiful tank you have got going there!
  10. Dan I love orchids! Which orchids, what type of lighting, and which moss u use? Can i see a pic so ive got a better idea, pretty please? How much nitrate do they soak up?
  11. Thanks Koko! Hubby and i like it so much hes decided it can stay when belles good enough to go in the main tank, if. Ill bring in two of my pond buddies if shes ok.
  12. It was $10.50... amongst all the other pothos. I didnt know it was rare! If Australia had laxer customs i could send you one! Thanks for that! Ill get hubby to get some when he goes to town next week. Its 6 hours later and no wilting at all and no dead fish... i hold my breath!
  13. Thankies Mandy! ❤ The 'Spa de Belle' is officially open! The suction cups didnt hold the weight so hubby wired the baskets on for me. The wire is above the waterline, but ill keep an eye on it for rust. I used gravel in the bottom of the caddys, and then glass pebbles on top. I ran out of gravel. Was good i had a supply of pebbles from when i was mosaicking! Makes it look pretty too! I have an airstone in each basket too, figured i would try it on slow to help with moving the water throughg to the roots, if its not needed ill just disconnect them later. Easier to add now than later. Please excuse the Fuddler puddys pedestal! It cops a flogging!
  14. Okies, i have a tub and Belles now in it YAY! It holds 140L full, and ive filled it to 95L for her at the moment. It wasnt as big a footprint as i would have liked, but was the biggest i could find. Ive got her filter and airstones in, made a little fountain by removing the filter spraybar. My good friend is jokingly calling it 'The Spa'. ROFL I found these shower caddys which should work i hope, and have massive suction cups on them, and lots of holes in the baskets. I think i should have gotten more of them! DOH! The plants i got are a flamingo plant, or i think its also called Antherium? A varigated pothos, and a Strawberry Cream fern that looks like its related to the maidenhair fern. Its leaves are much larger than the maidenhair and new foliage has a pretty brown red colour. I think there are two more different pothos in the garden too i can pich some cutting of, and i know there is a traditional maidenhair fern out there too. Lets see if i can not kill them. LOL
  15. Thanks Taryl, Im a bit warry because all the information i have says its an issue, but ill just try to keep it out of the Fuddlers way. http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control/toxic-and-non-toxic-plants/golden-pothos I put window screen mesh around the front of my 55g-where i have a ton of pothos hanging down in front of the tank (its on a low stand)- so the puppy doesn't make a meal of it. Hoping by the time she's past the teething stage she'll listen to "leave it" and mot mess with the plants. Thanks AquaArurora! Fud is pretty good and stops anything hes doing as soon as i say "No!". Ill keep it way from him just incase though. OOO I think it wont taste good! I hope hes a sensible cat and doesnt develop a taste for the disgusting! Thanks Sharon!
  16. I'm not sure how humidity is by you but I want to note maiden hair fern likes its humidity (my house at 50% (probably higher by tank)) wasn't enough for it. A spray bottle with some tap or distilled water misted 103x a day depending on humidity levels is a big help. The pilea species (aluminum, friendship, etc) really appreciate good lighting and grow bushier/lower leaves last longer in a strong light. When you trim and replant clippings it wilts bad just give it time it'll bounce back. Wondering jew is a vine like pothos, but unlike pothos its vine is weak and it will drop from its own weight as it grows, you can trim an replant if you don't like the low hanging vine, or give it a trellis to climb on (or just a simple anchored rope/fishing line to wrap the vine around). It does NOT like having its leaves wet-leaves will melt if splashed constantly by filter outflow for example). I like Fittonia, no fuss with it. I have baby tears (sold as Helxine soleirolii aka Soleirolia soleirolii) on my Aquaclear 70 HOB, its gotten HUGE-its right under a a 13 watt 6500k cfl bulb). 4/1/15 4/5/16 (its even bigger now!) Wish pothos was pet safe, its a real nitrate buster! Thanks so much again Aqua Aurora! This info is very helpful! Humidity in our house is usually okish, ive got a maidenhair fern thats just outside near the shed and its flourishing. We live right by the ocean so thats a big help. We do have airconditioning though so ill do lots of misting when its on. Thanks so much for the growing tips! Very much appreciated!
  17. Ok, i think ive narrowed it down to these commonly avaliable plants which are suposedly (dont take my word for it) cat safe and from the list above.... Maidenhair fern Spider plant Aluminum or any pileas Fittonia, nerve plant Prayer plant, maranta Babys tears Wandering jew Antherium We will see what happens here goes nothing! The spaths, pothos and many of the others are poisonous to cats apparently. Im not 100% sure on the antherium, so ill place it where Fuddles cant get it. Thanks so much guys and gals for all your help!
  18. Thankyou so much Aqua Aurora! Thats a great list! I might just have to make sure the Puddy cant reach them. Hes very good and doesnt climb on benches, hes not allowed. But he loves sitting in windowsills. Maybe if i keep the lace curtain between him and the plants might work! Thankyou so much again... now to google i will go!
  19. Thanks Emilie! Thats what i needed! Didnt know pothos is toxic to cats, thanks for thinking of that, ill have to research. Ill try to get lots of pictures for you! ❤ Thanks so much Sharon! Hadnt thought of overhead bulkhead type arrangement. I might just try the in water with a section above so that roots dont rot, and if this looks like a permanent solution for her and she just can not cope with deeper water, then ill get a powerhead and do the bulkhead! I dont have access to the hydraponics beads in my area, but i can get cheap gravel. Thankyou so much for your support. I was worried this might be a bad idea!
  20. I have a beautiful little ryukin with swimbladder isses, so i need to put her in a large shallow tank. Unfortunately that is not in my budget at the moment, so im thinking of getting a largish underbed tub and doing an indoor pond. I wanted to be able to put another fish in with her, but im worried the nitrates will climb too quickly. My tub can be max 50x90cm amd she can manage up to 30cm high at the moment. Im hopping to gradually raise this to equal the main tank over two to three months. So my idea was to add some baskets to the edge of the "pond" filled with gravel and have a few houseplants growing in them. I have no idea what would be safe though. These will be in the pond so she will have access to the roots, and i dont want to poison her! The "pond" is situated infront of a large southern window, and being in the southern hemisphere gets good indirect light all year round. So i have two questions... Which houseplants wont kill my Belle and be safe for her to munch on the roots of? Do i add an airstone at the bottom of each basket prior to filling with gravel? Or is this unnecessary? Im going plant shopping in aprox 10 hours so i thought i should be a little forarmed with knowledge. Thankyou!
  21. Annother thought, my second filter is due for cleaning. If i clean it this wc comming, will the bacteria have bounced back enough to cope with the silver? I dont normally have much of a cycle bump after filter cleaning, but thought the week and a half leadtime might be wise?
  22. Ok, thanks Taryl, i might do that. Ill do 4 rounds of prazi in the comming two weeks, with 50%wc with each round and raised temps. Im half way through the first of those 4 rounds now then. Would doing a couple of silver dips on all the fish help in the meantime too? Like one dip at the begining of each round? Im not sure what dose to do the silver at to add to the tank though as ive never dosed silver to the tank before for these guys. The aprox tank volume is 440L including the canister filters. My silver is the Amino Acid & Botanical Supply 500ppm and ive got maybe 2.5 fluid ounces left. Thankyou for the reasurance too, its greatly appreciated!
  23. Did i forget anything Taryl? Im not sure. Let me know if you need more info. Tweedledees tail was half eaten away but looks to be healing mostly now the nitrates are lower. Some sections are much much slower to regrow than others. Thats why I was worried out about p0dges and Pidges tails. I dont want them ending up like tweedledees!
