  1. I guess I've been spending a lot of time with the new arrivals, (mailed fish) that I've been neglecting my existing juvies.. For the last couple of days I've checking an odd behavior with Rocky the tele.. He does not eat & doesn't move much and another little (2") ranchu it has been picking on him.. This guy is only 1.5"-2" and weights 4 grams.. The tank is finally cycled (after 3mo of cycling) so I don't think its water quality issues How can I diagnose (or help to solve) his problem ??.. I don't see any physical injury that I can describe * Ammonia Level(Tank) 0 * Nitrite Level(Tank) 0 * Nitrate level(Tank) <20 * Ammonia Level(Tap) 0 * Nitrite Level(Tap) 0 * Nitrate level(Tap) 5 * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 8.2-8.4 * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 7.4 Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? API drops * Water temperature? 78-80 * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 125G - 3months * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Fluval FX6 & Eshopps WD75-CS * How often do you change the water and how much? Twice a week, 40-45% * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? Sunday, 45% * How many fish in the tank and their size? 8 juveniles from 2-4inches (head to tail) * What kind of water additives or conditioners? prime * What do you feed your fish and how often? (Last three weeks) Repashy soilent green AM - Hikari bloodworms PM * Any new fish added to the tank? no * Any medications added to the tank? no * Any behavioral changes? No eating, bottom sitting * What symptoms are being displayed? not physical Meds available: Metro, Kana, Bifuran, triple Sufla, Prazi (liquid), Antibioric food, Antiprotozoan food & salt
  2. Yea.. I will have to start a thread that says "Help ($) to feed these fishies".. (along with mortgage, insurances, (human) food, etc) seller!! ..
  3. The breeder that gave me this food told me the same thing.. Metronidazole is better in food.. However, I can't spend 30 minutes feeding one fish (twice a day).. I have another 11 to feed!! Perhaps its because is the first time he tried it.. and (obviously) the food doesn't taste great.. I will wait a day or so for the tele to adjust to the food.. If after that I still take forever, I will follow Lisa's suggestion
  4. I don't think so.. the package just says.. Active ingredient: metronidazole Also contains beta glucan for immune boosting
  5. This is the video of the ranchu which I think has some kind of floaty issues.. As I said earlier.. I've never owned a full size ranchu so I don't know if tilting forward or the bouncing on the floor is normal.. ?? The smaller black ranchu next to him doesn't do that, neither the other ranchus I have in the main tank Also.. Is treating with Metroplex same as feeding with metronidazole (flake) food ??? Im asking this because it takes FOR EVER!! to do one feeding Because metronidazole is water soluble, the active ingredient will only stay in the food for seconds the manufacturer advise to feed what the fish can eat only within the first 5-10 seconds.. If not eaten within the first 20 seconds, food should be removed so it's like a flake at the time "until this 6 inch fish gets what he needs"! Hopefully there's a better way
  6. I didn't mean to disrespect (if that's the case).. Im so thankful that I even found you guys to help me educate myself & suck less at fish-keeping I'm not trying to combined info for treatment.. It just happened that I read that article and I thought of asking, that's all..
  7. You're so right.. I guess I just read too fast the other comment (tilt forwarding) I didn't mention nothing about the floaty issues w/ the ranchu because I didn't wanted to mix information/treatments w/ the tele (which is the one I believe has a bigger issue) I brought that up now because of what I read elsewhere.. And yes.. I'm feeding the metro food, starting tonight.. I'll keep the 0.3% as normal procedure until I see a severe floaty issue w/ the ranchu.. I (perhaps) might be seeing things, I never had a full grown ranchu so the way he swims, eats & tilt forward is unusual for me I can shoot a video to clarify.. or I can open another thread if needed to avoid mixed info
  8. This is what I read.. http://goldfishkeepers.com/community/threads/buoyancy-problems-with-new-ranchus.9232/#post-81712 I got confused because I know I'm supposed to keep this guys (w/ salt) for a month or so while QT but some people in the other forum says otherwise if having floaty issues (including the breeder supposedly)
  9. Jared.. I read (from you) that ranchus lean forward when resting.. I guess that answers my concern about my new red/white being almost vertical (facing down/ tail up) a good amount of time of the day However.. looking at the way he swims & eats, I think he has floaty issues.. Him and the other 2 are in the 20G with 0.3% salt but I read that salt makes everything worse when having buoyancy problems because of the fluid retention salt create and therefore goldfish suffering from an inability to keep themselves upright are experiencing internal swelling. They recommend to use epsom salt instead (1tsp per 10G) What are your thoughts about that ??
  10. He seems to be (& look) a little better.. still clumsy swimmer and bottom sitting. The way that him and the red/white ranchu eat is a little wird.. they see the food and chase it.. but they miss it.. They swim around the food (gel/pellets) for a while until they finally get it.. I don't see "that" in my other (small) juvies I finally had a chance today to set up his temporary housing so I cant describe much progress just yet. however, I do see less red on the ulcer (or whatever that is) He is in his 1st day at 0.3% salt & double dose of prazi.. I'll feed him tonight some medicated food to see how he does If there's anything I need to know please let me know
  11. Thanks! 5 out of my 6 fish are from there. They aren't cheap, but they are cheaper than the online auctions and I don't have to pay for shipping. I think the quality is just as good, too This in NOT fair!!.. How come there's nothing like your fish south Texas.. !? (supply & demand) Great looking fish!!.. Congrats!
  12. Im trying to get another tank today.. it's just hard because I already have 3 tanks so I don't have much room left. Im aging water overnight to be able to do 100%WC daily.. The antibiotic food has Kanamycin Sulfate and the antiprotozoan food has metronidazole I'm gonna have him in a bucket today.. hopefully I can figure out something about the tank(s) distribution area Let me know how to proceed (besides salt)
  13. Even if the seller didn't send the extra tele I know 3 fish is still a lot for a 20G.. My plan was to have one tele & the ranchu on the 20G and the little black ranchu (2.5") in another 10G I have with a tele (almost) ready to move to the main 125G The seller really messed me up by adding another adult tele..
  14. I wasn't planning to have 4 fish in a 20G QT (c'mon).. the seller decided to send an extra butterfly without consulting me if I had room for it (I will explain the reason the seller sent another fish in another thread) I have a 125G ready for them when finish QT.. but I cannot risk to contaminate my healthy stuck by adding this fish right now Im doing from today on 100% WC to keep ammonia out of the equation.. (or I perhaps will be able to borrow a 40G breeder from someone locally) Right now I just need advice w/ the injured tele.. Non of the mods are "online" so I just gotta wait for someone to help me out in how to proceed
  15. Finally home from work.. This is NOT gonna be a smooth quarantine.. I don't think 50% WC daily is gonna do the trick (too many fish in one small 20G) I took a few more pictures but I couldn't get a "super clean" shot because of the slime coat.. However, the injury is right next to the pelvic fin (upwards) so I dont think it is on the vent. I took a side shot.. hopefully you can appreciate the flesh sticking out (or scales) I still see him bottom sitting throughout the day, only moving when food around (clumsy swimming) Because I didn't get an answer about using the 5G bucket I haven't separate him or use salt Please let me know how to proceed..
  16. I cant recall if the injury is on the vent.. I'll check when I get home. All I have left is a 5G bucket to separate him.. My 10G QT & my 20G QT are alredy being used w other fish
  17. Sorry about my grammar.. im doing this on my phone
  18. I did sent him an email before I discovered this injured to explain what I experienced on their arrival but he doesn't accept any wrongdoing.. (i sent the pictures last night after I started this topic but he hasn't respond) he did say that the fish could've be just fine if I wouldn't have asked for him to wait for the following week to shipped. Im going to start a thread about this (very expensive) experience along with contacting the Better Business Bureau, my bank (for a refund), Yahoo, Google & whoever else I need to, to make a point But today.. I want to save this little fella's life.. PLEASE HELP

  20. I don't know if you can change the resolution of the video above to HD (720+) so you can appreciate a better quality image
  21. I did try it but he does NOT stop moving.. I took this video which looks way better in my phone (vs you tube) I'm gonna let him rest tonight and perhaps try again tomorrow
  22. Please give me a few minutes to fill up the form.. If you experts can see pictures below and tell me if I need to do something (now) to better/save this guy.. I'll do it immediately ____________________________________________________ I received this great looking tele yesterday morning.. He/she arrived w/ several tears on tail and pelvic fins so it has been in the corner (facing backwards) all day.. I turned on the light of the QT tank tonight after day and a half of darkness to look for any abnormalities and to my surprise I see this tele swimming funny and being picked on.. I keep an eye on him for several minutes to discover this redness flesh / ulcer / blister.. etc This guys cost a lot of money for the seller to sent him/her like this.. I don't know what to do or how to treat that injury.. PLEASE HELP!
  23. Im sure most of you have seen them but for those who have not... These are the parents of my juvie..!! I'm hoping to get some more input tomorrow about a name.. You girls have been giving me some (a bit on the feminine side ) great ideas, thanks!!
