Update: I finally managed to get some pictures, but they do not show the problem very well. He kept wiggling and my phone's camera is not very good, so they are a bit blurry. The raised scales show up much better in person. He is doing a bit better after adding the epsom, but is still not so perky. I really hope the meds get here soon because I feel hopeless at the moment... he looks awful and it's like I'm just watching without being able to much to help...

Thank you.

I have ordered the meds. They should get to me around Monday or Tuesday. When I add the epsom, I need to dissolve it beforehand, right?
-
Do I need both meds? I found the Kanaplex on Amazon, but I'm not seeing any MetroPlex.
-
Ok.
-
Also, searching for the meds online right now. I only have a small Petco in my area and I know their fish meds are pretty scarce.

I have generic epsom salt I bought from Target ages ago, is that aquariums safe?

Dorsal fin down past three days, not as active, occasional bottom sitting I hope I've filled out the form properly. Sorry to post this so late, but my fish just hasn't been himself the past few days... he went from being very active/perky to listless. I've been experiencing ammonia spikes for about a week now, so I'm not sure if it has something to do with that (upped water changes to 50% daily). Just before I began writing this thread, I noticed he has subtle pineconing... At first I thought I was seeing things, but I asked for a second opinion from my roommate and she agreed that my poor fish's scales are not laying flat/sticking out slightly. I will try to post a picture of this later if I can, but for now I am unable to because the camera on my phone is not cooperating. What should I do in the meantime?

This may sound like a silly question, but is it safe to use just regular tap water to mix up Repashy Soilent Green? Or should I use bottled water/dechlorinated water?

Thank you everyone! I have tried to like all of your replies, but for some reason after I press the button the likes disappear. I don't know if it's because I'm on my phone, or if tapatalk's glitched out, but I appreciate all your compliments. He's such a sweet little guy. Still haven't settled on a name, though

Thanks for your replies everyone. I think I will avoid soaking unless he starts to have issues with constipation or floatiness. It seems he stops to chew his food after I give him about 8-10 pellets. Does that seem right, or is it too much/too little? I think he is pretty young. His body is around 1 and 1/2 inches (just a guess) if you don't count his tail.
-
I'm curious about this because I've been reading through some of the threads on here, and I've seen some users say they do and others say they don't. I haven't been soaking my food so far (feeding Omega One sinking pellets, small size). Should I be soaking it? The fish doesn't seem floaty, but I've only seen him poop once since I bought him home... it was a normal one though, according to the guide on here. Also, how much should I be feeding? So far I've only been doing a pinch twice a day. Is that enough? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm a bit of a noob at this.

I filmed this on my phone so the color is a bit off, but the brown is a deep black color in person. I think they're ammonia burns. It wouldn't surprise me if I'm wrong though.

Oops. Tried to post a video link and it didn't work out. Let's try again.

He was sold to me as a fantail, but I'm pretty sure he's a ryukin. He has some ammonia burns and a slight tear on his tail... other than that he seems okay. He wouldn't stay still enough for photos so I decided to post a video instead. Also, I'm not really sure if he's a boy, but that's his default gender for now. Not sure what I'll name him
