  1. Okay goldenhero, thanks I will pick up that kind next time I'm out.
  2. Thanks so much! I'm glad to hear I can use the food I made and thanks for letting me know which repashy food to purchase. I appreciate it
  3. Thanks tithra! I added two multivitamins to a large batch that should last my two goldies about 3-4 months (I always freeze bag it and open once I'm done with a small batch). Do you think that might be too much? They don't have extra iron, just the norm for a multivitamin (I'm assuming). I am interested in soilent green but when I looked on amazon I wasn't sure exactly which kind I need, I think I remember seeing 2 or more types, unless I was looking up the wrong thing. Anyhow, I know tasty worms carries it right? Which one is the best type to get? Thanks again for your reply
  4. I made gel food today for my fish with a multivitamin added into it. Didn't realize until after I finished it that there is iron in the multivitamin. Is iron harmful for the fish? I've googled it and looked in the forum, but am unable to find info on it. The reason I'm concerned is all the gel food recipes I've looked at that use a multivitamin say "no iron". Just looking for more information here but, if iron is harmful what are the reasons? I was unable to find anything on google about it. thanks
  5. Great idea on putting a piece in food! Thank u! About the ripped fin, maybe you can tell me... When I got the fish she was picked on by a bigger fish which bit off the very end of her tail fin, it grew back successfully but is now bent inwards and every so often it rips. I know the answer is probably no but, is there any way to fix this issue?
  6. Thanks for the info, I don't see a white box on the top of the page though. I'm thinking because I'm using the forum through tapatalk on my phone. I don't know if that can be resolved, or if in just not doing it right haha.
  7. Can they be added at the same time... Or better yet, if a tank has aquarium salt in it (because of a ripped fin) can I add epsom salt to the tank or should I do a massive wc? My littlest Goldie ripped her fin, over the weekend so after my weekly wc I added aquarium salt to help it heal. Now my other fishy is floaty because I tried a new pellet food yesterday. I've gave her peas earlier today, and there is a long poo coming out, but she's opening and shutting her mouth quite a bit and I'd like to add some epsom salt to help her poo. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  8. Hey dnalex, thank you for the welcome, I'm glad to join the community So I just checked the gils, they are def a good red/pink color with no inflammation what so ever. He looks healthy, isn't flashing or rubbing against anything and his appetite has grown since I got him. He's swimming around with no issues. It doesn't appear to be bothering him in the least. I wanted to snap another picture up close of his actual gil but it's hard to do one handed and I'm afraid to hurt him. I can try tomorrow to get an up close picture if that will help you guys decide the course of action. I really hope I can move him to the pond sooner than later, something about a goldfish in a ten gal really irks me haha. Any other suggestions? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Yes melusine, I have been treating with lifeguard and it actually looks a lot better than when I brought him home. His breathing isn't as labored either. I looked for prazi today but wasn't able to find it Just one quick question to the mods, since the lifeguard treatment has had a positive effect, would you suggest I continue treatment with that and then maybe a salt treatment after a week of rest? So far the only medication I have found locally is the lifeguard, I can't order prazi at the moment but I will definitely order some when I can, just to have it on hand. If it is not suggested, is there any other treatments that could be recommended? Thanks again everyone for the help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Thanks for the reply fantail. I thought I out it in d&d but maybe tapatalk mislead me. I'm starting to get the idea that this ap is a pain in the rear more than anything haha. Anyhow, I doubt any local stores have prazi but I will check tomorrow. We don't have any really good fish stores in my area, it's mostly Petco or Petsmart, so kind of slim pickins. Anyhow, thanks again everyone for the replies, I feel better knowing that this is possibly an injury rather than something more harmful! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. For the test results I'm going to go with the tap water findings since It is not a set up tank, but a quarantine tank with no filter, just an airstone. I just did a full wc. It is temporary. Test Results for the Following:* Ammonia Level: Nitrite Level(Tank)* Nitrate level(Tank)* Ammonia Level(Tap)* 0 Nitrite Level(Tap)* 0 Nitrate level(Tap)* 5.0 Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines)* 7.6 Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) ph is 7.6 I'm not sure how to test the other stuff. Other Required Info:* Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops?* API master test kit drops Water temperature?* 70f Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running?* 10 gal quarantine, just set up the other day. What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)?* none How often do you change the water and how much?daily full wc * * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? Today, all of it * * How many fish in the tank and their size? 1 and 5-6" * * What kind of water additives or conditioners?prime * * What do you feed your fish and how often? Currently tetra pond pellets, twice a day * * Any new fish added to the tank?just this one * * Any medications added to the tank?tetra lifeguard, started yesterday * * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment.: not exactly sure, no prior history known * * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? One Gil looks inflamed. * * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.?nope, he's swimming around. Maybe a little labored breathing. Sorry I couldn't answer that better. I really hope this helps though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I thought it might be an injury, but I'm not sure since I've never dealt with anything quite like this. Mikey, I don't see the chart unfortunately. This tapatalk ap I'm using is seriously lacking on certain things. Thanks everyone for the replies. I hope a mod can see this soon Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Here are the better pictures, it actually looks better than before. It's still bad though, poor guy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I can definitely try. I will post one soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Hello everyone! I'm new, but I lurk on this forum all the time, I've gotten so much information regarding my fishies. I usually don't impulse buy, and especially not from the local Petco but I couldn't help it this time. There was a 5-6 inch common Goldie in a tank with a school of green tiger barbs (ridiculous right?) who had taken a liking to picking on him. I saw him a couple weeks prior to buying him and his tail was bit up, but i asked them to move him and it healed up. The other day I went back to pick up the co2 cartridge for my other tank and noticed one of his gils were inflamed. He is still active and swimming normally and has a very good appetite. After talking to the rep at Petco I learned that he was "donated" and only cost $2 to adopt, so I picked him up to eventually go in our 270 gal pond. He's currently in a 10 gal quarantine tank with prime and the water is changed every other day, there is no filter. I was wondering if anyone can identify what's going on with his Gil. It's only one, and it looks inflamed but I don't see anything "on" it. I picked up tetra lifeguard which I am supposed to treat him for 5 days, today is the second day. Has anyone had luck w this medicine? I picked it up because it's for Gil disease and flukes among other things. Anything else I can do to make him better? When he is better, how long should I wait to put him in the pond? There are 4 other fish in there now. Any suggestions or insight would be helpful. Thanks so much! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
