  1. Thanks girls! I mentioned them to a friend of mine, who said her neighbors have a pond... We shared some pictures and info, and I took them over today. Sad to see them go, but happy at the same time because I know they will be well taken care of. It's a 500 gallon goldfish pond owned by some very nice folks who get a lot of enjoyment from feeding them twice a day and caring for the fish. Once they were in, I couldn't find Fluffernut again, but SwimFish made a few appearances.
  2. Hi all, long time no see! I'm sadly in a position where I need to rehome my fish... I'm really hoping someone in the Great Lakes area (with a pond... hey a girl can hope right?!) will be interested in meeting up and taking these guys! I have SwimFish, my original fantail from the beginning. He was a Walmart fishy from February 2014, and the dude is a tank - lived through everything I've thrown at him. Confirmed male. And I have Fluffernut, a Thai Oranda from ECR July 2016, confirmed female. They were 63g and 110g in 2016, but I have not weighed them since. They are probably about the same tbh. Like I said, preference to someone willing to meet up, so maybe someone from Indiana, Michigan, Illinois... I need to meet in Northern Indiana / Southern Michigan. Cynthia from ECR has said she would be willing to take Fluffernut back, but if I can avoid the stress of shipping I'd like to. For anyone interested, here's my blog recording the beginning: Page 15 is when I got Fluffernut.
  3. When you say some dorsal, do you think some might not have? I'm rooting for ranchu! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. Ok, his tail is definitely healing. Eyes still look funny to me, same as in the pic above. Not sure if I should be continuing Metro (they are still in metro, 29 is still blue), or switch to paraguard, or be done treating entirely? Hate to pester, but I could use some direction. 6. I have a piece of cotton batik stretched over poster board. I really like it, and that I could easily change it - but I love the fabric and haven't wanted to. [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. This shows the eyes, and Marmalade's are about the same. Fluffernut has not really shown physical issues. Tail Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Tomorrow is day 14 of metro. Fins seem to have have stopped degrading, but I can't tell if they have necessarily gotten better yet and I know that can take time. Eyes are still popping a little. Have been feeding Ken's oxy food since 3/5. What is my next step for fish and equipment? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I realized yesterday I'm past the 2 week point on the meth blue & silver treatment for my filters. What should I be doing in that tank right now, continue those doses, switch and run clear, something else? Will it need ammonia or something added for the cycle with no fish? 11. When we got a new whole house water softener, I learned from others here that goldfish actually "prefer" or do better in harder water. Mine was so hard, I had deposits on the entire glass surface, even completely submerged below the water line! Now with soft water, its not as bad as it used to be, but I still get deposits as you describe. I think in general, the less fiddling we do with the water chemistry, the better! As long as your fish are happy that is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I found the powder on angelsplus, but it mentioned not being skin absorbed above 7.6 ph, and mine is 8.2 It mentioned mixing it in the food, but since I already have a food with it in, I don't think I will go to the expense for the powder. Let me know if I should start using the food though! Kana is done now, Metro continues. The Metro pkg says up to 3 weeks, do you have a recommendation for how long to continue? SwimFish's tail is a lot less red and angry looking today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I have Ken's oxy food, so you mean that, or is it a powder? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. These don't really show it, but I think F & M are slightly bloated, possibly starting to pine cone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Somewhat improved behavior, but SwimFish is still not a happy camper. His tail seems worse, but I didn't have enough metro on hand to dose the tank, so hopefully that will come today. I ordered more paraguard too so there won't be any delay if we need it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  17. Ok, sounds good, thanks. What about temp? Would it be ok to use unheated tubs? I could go down to medicating 30 gallons that way. But if I need to keep them warmer that's fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Thank you, 2/17 for the kanaplex and lowest amount of salt, max salt was 2/24, but I didn't write down the dates in between for each addition to get there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Thanks all. My one comfort is that I really have been good about my water changes and filter maintenance. Just so sad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Just thinking, I wonder if the situation has changed now to the point where it would be better to separate them off into tubs. I can't do it tonight, but I could do it tomorrow. Although I can't afford any more heaters right now... Updated pictures SwimFish Fluffernut, low energy and alternates this pose with clamping Marmalade Tank Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Thank you Dawn [emoji173]This is really hard. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Felicity and Filbert have passed. [emoji22] I have 3 left, the non-teles. Clamping. Fluffernut is the least active and SwimFish's tail is starting to look pretty ragged, where it wasn't before. They are in clear water now and I'm going to let the temp drop a little. No salt or meds until I hear back. I don't want to do the salt anymore, maybe just a low % if necessary, but I can do other meds. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Oh Koko, your timing is perfect - not good. It has taken me a little while to get them up to .5% salt, so that level just happened Friday night, temp still at 80F and doing kanaplex. I could tell yesterday that they were not happy, but thought it must have just been the last salt bump. Felicity (orange tele) has been bottom sitting and now SwimFish (orange fantail) is too which is very unusual for him. Filbert (calico tele) is kind of hanging, and Fluffernut (black oranda) and Marmalade (ranchu) seem a little unhappy but ok. PomPom (tiny tele) did not make it. I let Fiona (red cap) go a few days ago because she was so far gone. So I'm getting ready to do another WC, and thought maybe not so much salt this time, what do you recommend? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Aw thank you, it could grow on me, that center support though... maybe a different airstone... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Well, the color I had on hand was a mistake, but with help moving the tank this was not too bad. I will either put sand back in or scrape and try a different color. It loses the reflective quality though, and I think that might be bugging me as much as the color. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
