  1. Beautiful tanks! I love the bare bottom look but my sister prefers the sand. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. Beautiful !!! So happy Sumo arrived safe! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks everyone. I think I will be sticking to 2 fish I there, they seem happy and this gives them more than 25g each. I like the extra plant idea also How about a couple snails? Good idea or bad? Will they create a lot more work? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Thank you, still undecided Thanks for the info. not sure if I am going for it or not. I hate to disrupt their home and give them less room just because we may want a 3rd fish. Correction, my niece wants another fish, lol. We won't be upgrading the size of the tank so I am taking that into consideration as well. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. We currently have 2 comets in our 55g and I know they need more space than other goldfish. my niece is bugging us for a 3rd fish and wants a fancy goldfish. I keep telling her no, not enough room but thought I would ask if we put a different type of fish in would that matter or can you even mix the types of goldfish? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. Thanks! They seem to love it. They are swimming all over the place, they sometimes look like they are doing laps back and forth in the tank, lolThank you for the nice compliments everyone! I am really enjoying the much more appealing look of the new set up. I find myself sitting and watching the fish much more than I used to. It's very relaxing. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. I love the set up! Looks great! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. Oops this was the first set up of the 55 g Thanks everyone :-) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. We finally got around to redoing the fish tank. The Pleco and Cory were rehomed to a fish store and we got rid of the gravel and plastic plants. We decided on black sand although I am not really sold on it yet, I keep reading it's difficult to clean but was told it is better than gravel. I guess we will see on the next tank clean, lol. I love the black background and the big rocks on the bottom. The fish store wanted $2.99lb for their natural rocks so we went to a rock and landscape company and paid .50 cents lb for the rocks, big difference! I love the look now. Next we will add some bubble wands and upgrade their filter, probably next month. It is a work in progress, as these were not planned fish and my sister has already invested a ton of money in them and they still need more. They started in a small glass vase from the birthday party, to a 10 gallon then the current 55 g tank. We have made some mistakes along the way but are slowly trying to give them an appropriate and happy home. Original 10 gallon Sharkie and Goldie As babies- the white and gold one (Goldie) turned white and the gold and black one (Sharkie) turned all gold 55g when we first bought it New set up Goldie and Sharkie today Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Well looks like everything is good now. I got the filter working again and no more sand floating to the top. Thanks Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. Because she said it was sand and once saturated with water would all float to the bottom. She is kicking herself for that now, lolSent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. Thank you! And We thought the sand had settled, there wasn't any on the top, then this morning there was a ton of it and the filter wasn't working we are new to fish tanks as you can tell! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  14. we have a slight problem with our fish tank. We changed to sand but didn't rinse it first, my sister decided it didn't need rinsed, so now it keeps floating to the top. The filter seems to have quit working. It seems like the sand has oils in it or something, it clumps up and floats to the top. Any suggestions besides starting over? Should we just keep skimming the top of the tank until it stops floating up? We probably need a new filter now too, it stopped working after we put the sand in. we have a penguin power filter right now, is that a good one? Thanks in advance for any help.
