2 goldfish in fishy heaven rip
  1. thanks its just i need to convince my parents that the tank they are in is too small for them I think i probably just confused another fish with the sarasa(which does happen im sure) if not ill just buy the tank myself! i do want the best for them and i could easily find fish that will be able to go in that tank/or use it as a QT tank i think i will go with petco just need somehow to get over there(won't be too hard i think though) i don't want to buy anything (live that is) at the petsmart closest by me because i noticed a fish having problems in one of tanks) and i have been looking for a lfs<I FINALLY figured out what that stood for and i didnt even have to ask!
  2. that wasnt HER frank it was someone elses fish that did the the same thing as frank
  3. This. Even showers with the newer water efficient shower heads require about 20 gallons, so at the most, the additionally required water for the weekly 50-75% water change equals one of the people in your home to take one additional shower a week. Alternatively, one of you could skip one shower weekly to make up for the water change But seriously, the dollar per gallon sale is the best deal you have right now. Even if you only upgrade the aquarium itself for now, and continue to run with the too small filters you already have. Just one question though: You say you got all that for Christmas, so the tank is not yet cycled, but has fish in it? yes i never said i was an expert at fish keeping! however the other only other tank i have is a 5 gallon hex i think or circular i forget which plus another fish died in it so i would have to disinfect it and clean it out really well before putting any live things in there. That fish is how i wound up with two fish which do not belong together so actually i would need two tanks lol i have noticed the gallon per gallon sale is only up to 55gallons? i discovered one of my fish needs at least 100+ and my other one(fantail) 40 gallons per fish i think? i might be being generous but just saying only if petsmart was doing the same thing!(closest place to my house) i actually went there and i wish i said something to this one family that was getting fish for their tank(10 gallon tank with the 4 they got and i dont how many fish they had @ home but i didnt want to say anything in front of the petsmart employee) Nah, everyone starts SOMEWHERE, so don't worry about having started out wrong For the fantail a 20g minimum will be required. If this fish lives by itself, then a 20g tank would be great for him. I would rather go with the 20g LONG tank vs the tall tank, if possible. The larger the surface area, the better generally the water quality due to better oxygenation! If you want to get him a buddy - from my personal experience goldfish are more active if they have at least one goldfish buddy; after all they are quite social - look into getting a 40gallon tank for them. And since your tank is not cycled yet, you will want to do 75% water changes on the 10g DAILY, and feed the fish only lightly in order to keep the waste at a minimum. Maybe feed only every other day, a small pinch of food twice a day, enough for them to slurp up within a few seconds. Otherwise, without proper biological filtration the toxins produced by the waste will rise very quickly and can easily kill the fish, and only water changes will reduce these toxins to a tolerable level. Whenever you get your proper sized tank/s, here is info on how to do a fishless cycle on these http://www.kokosgoldfish.com/FishlessCycle.html I personally think you are probably better off (especially in terms of water usage) if you keep the two fish in the 10g for now and do daily large water changes. That way you can cycle the large tanks with performing minimal water changes as necessary according to the instructions I did not realize your second fish is not a goldfish! What is it, that it needs a minimum of 100gallons? oO actually christmas is a goldfish just one of those comet ones i didnt even see that question earlier oops sorry Fang!! cause i THINK christmas is one of those sarasa comets but im not 100% sure yet she(just saying she because well because i can! lol) but from the pics ive been looking up sure does look like it. So it will be interesting to see what Speckles is(speckles is still little but am expecting him to get bigger.

  7. i was thinking about using it for a hospital tank but i don't really have room for two tanks in my bathroom i have a double counter sink with enough room for the 10 gallon long plus extra space in between and remember i DO NOT live with my future mother in law. Of course naming a fish after her means i would have to make sure to get a female one lol. Bettas look lovely but ill just wait until im more used for caring for fishes the betta seems a little extreme for me right now, BUT maybe the spoil the heck out of them might work. I don't live with mine either but she still sees my house every now and then You don't necessarily need a female, my pets have all kinds of names that society might think don't match their genders. Yeah, if they have to be in the bathroom, you might be out of luck, and I agree with Chelsea about it being a potentially hazardous place. I do have a spot i could potentially put a fish tank & a stand in my room if i just put away the stuff thats there in storage its near light so thats fine right? of course theres the danger of spilling water and damaging the carpet but i would rather have that then them in the bathroom

  9. Forgot to mention i live with my parents not my mother in law
  10. I think this might be in the wrong section but my fish are in a tank not suitable for them (a 10 gallon tank eww) in their defense we are having a water shortage here where i live but i believe a larger tank would help but i don't know how to convice them to upgrade to a larger tank? the fish are small now but i know they will get bigger! i got the tank and the fish as a christmas present from my future mother in law yes bad idea but i love the fishies hate the tank.(I've done my research) and theres the cost factor as well.
