    2 Oranda, 1 Ryukin, 1 Ranchu
  1. Gems can found at the large chain stores sometimes. Just make sure to check the fish out and its tank before buying. Quarantining is a must with chain fish (learned that the hard way)! Good luck!
  2. As anyone used Pool Filter Sand in their tanks? I was sent a video where the DIY guy on YouTube talked about using it. I'm looking to switch from gravel to sand so want to have options.
  3. It's the typical smell, earthy I guess, but much stronger than usual.I recently changed from carbon media to ceramic media. Water has been cloudier than normal but parameters are consistent. The water was left stagnate for about 4 days.
  4. Does anyone else have an odor coming from their tanks? I recently moved. In the moving process, I left about 10% of the old water to help with the recycle. But since I've set up the tank at my new house, there is an odor I can't get rid of. I cleaned the tank twice but there is still an odor.
  5. My LPS charges the same for any fancy goldfish other than fantails. I'm sure they get their prices from a formula based off of how much it was to purchase from the wholesaler.
  6. I know how it feels to find a diamond in the rough. I had the same find at the local pet shop in my hometown in Alabama. I'm re-doing the search now that I moved. Every fish shop here is centered around saltwater fish. Only options are the chain stores but their selections are limited. I can't wait to find that one specialty store!
  7. Welcome to the Game! Do you know what types of plants you will have in your planted tank? Goldfish are lawnmowerws, be careful what you put in it because they will most likely eat it. Plus, keep the guys' above tips in mind. You don't want to start a beautiful planted tank and then have to restart it in another tank. Good Luck!
  8. It's almost like nothing is wrong with him. Greens and 3 days in the quarantine tank, already swimming normal again. I think I found the culprit too. My housesitter fed the fish freeze dried bloodworms I have for my bettas.
  9. Good sign today. The little buddy is bottom sitting in the quarantine tank!
  10. Thanks Tithra. I started him on peas. Sounds weird but Im happy he's pooping a lot.
  11. My params are stable. I've been feeding them the fluval sinking pellets like usual. We had a severe dip in temps here. I think that plus his habit of sticking his head out of the water anticipating the pellets are the culprit. This is the first time any of my fish have had floaty.
  12. I witnessed one of my orandas go from normal to floaty. Got a heater and have him in a plastic strainer. Need everyone to send good vibes so my little buddy gets better soon!
  13. This story is the same for all types of pets. Its basically lazy owners who lose interest and instead of finding rehoming options, they take the easy route of dumping or letting their pet go.
  14. What if its different filter cartridge sizes? Have you cut the carbon out of your cartridges? If so just remove the plastic. In the future, don't use cartridges. They are expensive and not very useful. What do you suggest I use instead of cartridges? I've heard that some ppl just stuff their HOB with bio-balls. Tithra has made a couple of videos on this subject that were super helpful to me! Thanks for this!
