  1. You mean these? Because I actually have no idea what they are. He has them for close to a year Id say! Yes, those little things! I've done several rounds of prazi, salt, and even metro meds, and they're still there… I've just been watching them now. Do any of your other fish have them? Good to hear they don't seem to be bothering him. ope, just him! He has had Prazi and salt too, I don't know what they are but it doesn't seem to cause any harm! Okay, I was just curious! Thanks

  3. Sorry to be nosey and off-topic, but what are those white spots on your orange telescope's tail? My ranchu has white spots that look exactly like that… I already have a D&D thread going that I need to update with new pics. I haven't been able to find any other pics that look like them on here. I know what my fish has could be different, but I'm curious! All your fish are beautiful, by the way
  4. Okay, sounds like a plan. I'll keep an eye on her! Thanks-- I won't worry as much now.
  5. Yes, I know exactly what you're talking about! I used to have a big silk plant with wires in it-- I ended up taking it out. These two are pretty soft and flowy. I think they're okay. This is my first goldie with long-ish fins, so I've been trying to be careful with that kind of stuff. My other two fish have short fins, and they've never had any fraying. I'd definitely love to have real plants… Maybe some day!
  6. I did the three rounds of prazi without any salt, then started the salt after the third round was over. I'm wondering if it's just the way she is… I went back and looked at her pictures from DO, and I can see some fraying on her fins even then. When I look at the DO pic and her current pic side by side, it looks like it's in the same spots just a little more progressed now. I hope it's okay to post the DO pic here… Just wanted to show what I was looking at. What do you think?
  7. I have two silk plants, some smooth rocks, and a thin layer of sand on the bottom. She seems normal besides the fin problem.
  8. I use the liquid prazi-- this stuff: http://www.petmountain.com/product/internal-parasite-aquarium-medications/11442-504920/hikari-hikari-prazipro-for-freshwater-and-marine-aquariums.html And no, it hasn't changed much. I thought it was a orange spot coming in at first since she's calico, but it looks more red to me. It's hard to see in the pic. It could be orange coming in-- I'll just keep an eye on it! What can I do for the fraying though? Do you think it's flukes and I should do a few more rounds of prazi on her? I just thought it was weird that the fraying went away with the salt, then came back when I stopped the salt.
  9. Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level(Tank) 0ppm * Nitrite Level(Tank) 0ppm * Nitrate level(Tank) 5ppm * Ammonia Level(Tap) .50ppm * Nitrite Level(Tap) 0-.25ppm * Nitrate level(Tap) 5ppm * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 7.6 * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 7.6 Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? API drops * Water temperature? 78*F * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 55 gallons, 6 months * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? 2 API M canister filters * How often do you change the water and how much? 80% once every 5-7 days How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? 6/28- 80% & today (7/3)- 80% * How many fish in the tank and their size? 3 goldfish: 1 ranchu, 1 telescope, and 1 tele pearlscale * What kind of water additives or conditioners? Prime * What do you feed your fish and how often? 2-3 times a day/ Repashy Solient Green in morning and bloodworms for dinner. Sometimes a little NLS Thera A or Hikari lionhead thrown in too. * Any new fish added to the tank? No * Any medications added to the tank? No * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. I did 3 rounds of prazi and two weeks of 0.3% salt recently. * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? Frayed fins. A little spot of redness on tail too. My tele pearlscale has had frayed fins since I got her months ago (from DO). I started with just clean water for a few weeks, didn’t really help much. So I recently did 3 rounds of prazi and two weeks of 0.3% salt on my main tank. Her fraying went totally away during the two weeks of salt. As soon as I took the salt out, the fraying started again. It’s just been getting worse everyday. She has fraying on her tail, pelvic fins, and now a slit on her pectoral fin. I’m wondering if it’s fin rot since it came back after the salt…? Picture below—circled the redness and slit in pectoral fin.
  10. Just wanted to update. My tele pearl scale has red veins in her tail today. I will post pics when I get home. My telescope released eggs today, but she is acting kind of off. I did an 80% water change on the main tank. I thought maybe something was in the water that was bothering them. I also took out the new airstone that I added in on Saturday. I don't know what's going on with them... The water was still testing normal before I did the WC. My ranchu in QT is doing good again today. Did her WC this morning and replaced all her stuff in the water. She also ate her two doses of MM today so far.
  11. Well, I am STUMPED. Every night, I watch my fish while I sit in bed and watch TV before I go to sleep. So tonight, my other two fish are flashing in my main tank. They've been fine all day. I did test the water earlier... All the params were normal-- Ammonia: 0ppm. Nitrite: 0ppm. Nitrate: 5ppm. pH: 7.6. I did a 80% WC change yesterday, so that removed most of the salt (0.3%) that was in there. I also replaced the sponges in my filters incase there was any lingering yucky stuff on them. I'm really not sure what to do now… Forgot to add that JB is doing pretty well in QT. She had her 21 MM pellets today. I have double dosed Prime, added 1/2 TSP of Prazi, and 1 TSP of salt for the nitrite.
  12. So water update… She (Jelly Bean/JB) was acting weird this morning when I got up, so I tested the water. The nitrite was 2ppm and ammonia was .25ppm, so I hurried and did a huge water change. Turns out my TAP nitrite is .25ppm now (was 0 about a week ago) which doesn't help! So I guess the biomedia from my established filter isn't doing much? Is double dosing Prime enough to detoxify the nitrite (and ammonia)? JB seemed better after the WC, and she ate her 7 pellets of MMs for breakfast. I haven't dosed the Prazi yet… I guess I will soon.
  13. Okay, got it! She's not too happy in there-- She's never been alone before. I'm feeling guilty And yes, I will check the params tomorrow, and report back! Hopefully the biomedia will help lower the ammonia from my tap.
  14. All right, I have her all set up in her 10 gal QT tank with a sponge filter and a bag of biomedia from my tank. She's been acting pretty normal in the main tank, but the spots are still there. So I'd rather be safe than sorry. She did the full 14 days of 0.3% salt in the main tank. She weighs 52.9g. How much MetroMeds does that come out to be? Should I start the Prazi at the same time as the MM's? Also, do I feed ONLY the metromeds (no other food at all)?
  15. No, they haven't changed. They're like translucent white spots. It's strange. I thought the salt might have helped, but it doesn't seem to be making a difference. She was a little perkier today, but I'm just nervous since my other fish went downhill so fast and suddenly. Yes, I will definitely start her on the metromeds. I will weigh her tomorrow morning. I think I'll stick her in the 10 gal QT tank by herself because of the food. Do I need to do anything with my other two fish? Should I remove the 0.3% salt in the main tank tomorrow (day 13)? I can't tell if they have spots on their tails… They only act weird at night while it's dark. One bottom sits on and off when she sleeps. The other one clamps her fins and slightly leans to the left while she hovers at night. They only do this at night time, and they've done it as far back as I can remember. So I've always just figured it's how they sleep, but I thought I would note it just in case! Oh, and thank you!
