  1. I'm not sure. My boyfriend went without me. Moby seems to have perked up considerablly though.
  2. I can't test because my boyfriend did a full water change and cleaned the pump filter we use.we had just had a massive algae bloom in that tank and I scrapped off the algae a few days ago. I don't know if that indicates a problem.
  3. After talking to our local fish center it was decided he had hemmorhagic septicemia. My boyfriend went and got antibiotics and has changed the water. Once I got home Moby seems to be doing betters he's much more active and his fins are out instead of tucked in. We have probably had Moby for 4 years, but we adopted him from another family and we think he's about 10 years old. The image is the antibiotic that was recommended.
  4. My boyfriend just did a water change. The aquarium store we used said it looked like hemorrhagic septicemia. He's alone in the tank which is about 30gallons. We have a big filter sitting next to it.
  5. Got home at 8pm and Moby hasn't been bottom sitting at all! He'll swim for peas now and he and Goldie race for them. He is 110% better than he was a week ago. Thank you dnalex for your help! I think we are going to try and find him food with more fiber and keep up a pea regimine for both fishes.
  6. Thanks khanna. I'll wait for dnalex. We won't be getting the food till Saturday.
  7. And we officially need a different food because I looked at our label. It is 35% protein and 6% fiber. Any brands you suggest? We are also thinking of keeping them on peas as a treat once treatment is done.
  8. I think there is some Koi to him. He's longer than your palm, 13in might be long, but he's longer than a cell phone. He's LONG! We've thought about relocating him to a pond in PA (Bryan's mom has a friend with a pond) but now that we've nursed him back I don't know if I can let him go. I mean he seems happy. Also for larger goldfish should we feed more fiber or protein? We are going to our LFS on Saturday and I wanted to get better food for the goldfish since the tropical fish in the other tank have some fancy stuff.
  9. Glad your fishy is feeling more herself.
  10. dnalex you're not the only one. This morning Bryan admitted that he had thought that Moby was a gonner when he found him laying on his side, listless. Now Moby is almost back to normal. He always sat on the bottom a lot, we think the tank is probably too small for him and looking into relocation (kindof) for him. He is 13 or so inches long (don't have his weight) but he's a big guy.
  11. Ok so day one of peas and I can at the very least say that ate. Bryan (my boyfriend) was home today so the fish got a few extra peas. We haven't seen any poo from either fish, however, we are wondering if the filter system we have going is just sucking the poo up before we see it. The good news is that Moby is WAY more active today. Tonight was the first time in almost a week that I had seen him swim mid tank for awhile. He also swam to the top and dove back down for the first time in a week tonight so I think he's much happier. How many days of peas should we be doing?
  12. Peas are eaten. Apparently my boys (I think they're male) don't like being hand fed. Had to drop the pea halves in front of their noses, but they ate. Hopefully there will be green poo when I get home. Moby swam for a second at mid tank after the peas!
  13. Same poo from last night. Peas commence in the morning. I put the frozen peas in the refrigerator to thaw. I'm just glad that he is definitely starting to feel better.
  14. Not posting a video. When I got home Moby was resting on his side, but eventually started moving. Something I noticed tonight is that he is a lot more active/ sitting on his belly when the light is on. Are goldfish more active with light? I never noticed a difference in activity level before.
  15. Just got word from my boyfriend that Moby seems to be doing a tad better tonight. He said he's even swimming a little bit. I'll post more video when I get home.
  16. Best of luck with your lil' buddy. He's a beautiful fish.
  17. Ok. Will start tomorrow so Moby can finish his third day of fasting. I'm so happy that he's looking better!!!!
  18. Ok. How exactly do i administer the peas? I know they need to be thawed and deshelled. Ok. How exactly do i administer the peas? I know they need to be thawed and deshelled.
  19. Also we still haven't seen much poo. I saw a very thin brown strand that I believe was poo, but he is still in the tank with Goldie so I don't know whose poo belongs to whom.
  20. He looks better this morning. A little laying on his side, but he has been on his belly much more. Here are two videos from this morning. This is day three of the fast.
  21. DNAlex do you think he looks better or is it just my wishful thinking?
