  7. I just find it really curious that all three of them somehow got "injured" within 24 hours of each other. I'm not seeing anything else now. I treated earlier today.
  8. I have 5 tropical tanks in my house Right up my alley! You have so many options with a 40 breeder. Look up "Celestial Pearl Danios" and see if you can get your hands on a school of those. They are AWESOME fish! I think some people also call them galaxy rasboras but they're not actually a rasbora. They way I like to do my tanks, its kinda corny, but I like a betta (you got that already!), some shrimp (whoo hooo all done!), something really shiny that swims around the middle of the water to catch eyes. I have a lot of gold tetras. They're kinda plain but when the light hits them just right they look like they're made of 24k gold. And they're super hardy. Then I like something that doesn't stop moving. Like long finned danios or platies or barbs. Then I like to have a school of something that stays pretty stationary. I have some glass catfish that I LOVE to death. They are the coolest fish. Then I like to add some sort of catfish/pleco. I had a farlowella catfish for a little while, she passed away along with every other fish in that tank and it was so sad :[ But she was super cool and a great algae eater. Cory catfish are great too! So many options!!!! I have a betta in with long finned cherry barbs and those are pretty docile towards each other. Most other barbs will nip but cherry barbs don't nip very often. Hmm... what else. Do more female bettas! Create a sorority! That would be pretty cool Good luck!
  9. Hey Alex, I got my prazi. I'm still going to treat with it, but their tails are completely healed up already so I'm reallllyyy wondering if it was physical injury. My oranda ended up getting a long tear two days ago from what I presumes was the same thing, but its healed up already. All the tail tears on Pepper and Nugget are healed as well.

  17. I ordered the Prazipro yesterday. and I dipped them last night. Nugget had a fit it was sad she did NOT like the salt dip. After I put her back in her tank she lodged herself into a plastic plant and sat there. This was after I put her in a bowl of freshwater for 30 mins after her dip. She's dramatic. 18. These are HEAVENLY. I'm literally going to buy some right now because you reminded me.....
  19. In my personal opinion (which I'm not saying is correct by any means) but I think that a good rinse would suffice. I just had ich in one of my tanks and I didn't even bother rinsing (didn't even think of it) when using everything in other tanks. Not only that, but I actually moved uninfected fish from the infected tank into a non infected tank and everything worked out well. Maybe I'm just lucky? Or crazy....one or the other. Actually, both.
  20. This thread is awesome My boyfriend and I started dating almost 2 years ago. Within a month of being together, he had his first betta (he had never had a fish before). Not even two months later, he added another betta and a 14 gal fish tank. He LOVES them. Its so funny, because I know a lot about fish so he's always asking me if he's doing things right and whether or not he needs to do things differently. We live together now and have 8 tanks in our house so we've definitely gone quite a ways with the whole fish keeping
  21. Pepper Nugget (the fin on the bottom of her tail in the back) Ammonia and nitrite Nitrate Pepper, the calico, has white stripes in her tail so it's hard to tell. She's a wiggly little bugger. It's the right hand bottom tail fin ( looking at it) Sorry they're not the greatest photos I even tried to put pepper in a bowl to snap hers, she just swam around in circles non stop....
  22. Alright here we go. . . Water test was inconclusive, I figured I might have something out of the ordinary in my tank, but nothing, I even took pictures of the test tubes. Please copy & paste fill the following form and fill it out to the best of your ability when requesting help for Goldfish Problems: Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level(Tank): 0ppm * Nitrite Level(Tank): 0ppm * Nitrate level(Tank): 20-25ppm * Ammonia Level(Tap): 0ppm * Nitrite Level(Tap): 0ppm * Nitrate level(Tap): 0ppm * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines): 7.2 * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines): 7.0 Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? API drops * Water temperature? 70 * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 55 bow, been running since end of May * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? I switched out on of my filters a few weeks ago, but it didn't seem to have an affect on them. I have 1, 20g marineland penguin, a 30g tetra whisper (which I hate so I'm looking for something else, probably gonna try a canister) and a 55 aqueon * How often do you change the water and how much? I've been changing a lot of water, probably between 60-80% each week because I've been doing a lot of projects with the tank and its stand and the only way I can move the tank is if it only has a little bit of water left it in (and with the help of my super strong boyfriend) * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? 6 days ago, 80% * How many fish in the tank and their size? 4 fish, 1, 4 inch oranda, 1, 4 inch calico fantail, and 1, 2(ish) inch pearlscale and a 3 inch bristlenose pleco * What kind of water additives or conditioners? Prime * What do you feed your fish and how often? NLS, brine shrimp, peas, spinach, green beans, the occasional krill and blood worms. I feel NLS every day at least 2x daily (small amounts) and I feed something frozen in the middle of the day and something veggie with the something frozen...if that makes sense. * Any new fish added to the tank? Yes, the oranda was added last week. He was in quarantine for 1.5 weeks with salt and daily water changes. He showed NO signs of anything during his QT * Any medications added to the tank? Not right now. * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. June; salt July; salt, formalin, coppersafe, parasite guard August: parasite guard Sept: I don't think there was anything Oct: nothing yet. * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? See first post. * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? They're acting perfectly normal. So, as I said, I don't have Prazi but I can order it right this second if I need to. I have MM, and all the other medications listed above. I do have a 10g QT but I have 2 fish (the calico and the pearscale) that are showing the torn fins. And I don't think 10g is enough for both :/ I can take a ride over to my LFS to see if they have anything else for meds. I expected to find more problems in the water quality....not entirely sure why I didn't. I did this test before the water change and am in the process of yet another 80%. Let me get some pictures of their fins and I'll post those in a minute.
  23. 2 salt dips? I don't have any Prazi :[ But I can order it. I do have a lot of other things. Any other suggestions? I know, totally not prepared :/ I'm sorry.
  24. I'm fairly certain they're not physical injury :/ It happened fairly quickly. I'm going to do an 80% water change in a bit. Should I salt dip everyone?
  25. I will give all of the params before I do my water change today. But I'm just curious, other than the fact that fin rot kinda "mangles" the fins, how else can you tell whats going on? I have two fish that were perfectly fine yesterday and woke up today and it looks like someone took a comb, and brushed through their fins (but not as drastic, maybe 4 tears on one fish and 3 on the other) They're very clean cut, not like someone is "eating away" at them. They're on the tail fins. They're acting perfectly normal. The plastic plants have been in there the ENTIRE time they have been in there and I've NEVER seen a single tear. I'll get params up as soon as I can, but I'm in the middle of a huge symposium project right now so I really need to get that done first, unless someone thinks this is an emergency and then I'll drop everything Thanks in advanced.
