  1. Better set up the spare bedroom. I'm coming to Maine..Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk Lol I have a spare bedroom! If you don't mind a couple chinchillas and hermit crabs. And a cat tree Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
  2. Petco is having INSANE sales right now. For my store anyway, dollar per gallon includes 10,20l,20h,29,40,55. And then the double bulb t5 light hoods are 1/2 off. And all the light bulbs are on sale 1/2 off as well. Not only that but every tetra product is 15% off and all API products are 10% off. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk - now Free

  4. Guess who got this from her boyfriend for Christmas Time to start training :) Has anyone else used this? Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk - now Free
  5. You don't have to flip him upside down. You'll get pinched for sure all I do is hold him above my hand by his shell so he has to reach for my hand and then look underneath him. I always move my hand further away to get him to come out further. Works like a charm although my herms are so friendly now that they don't hide when I pick them up. 6. Haley he's awesome!!!!! You can tell gender! When you pick him up, look underneath his shell at his legs where the segments join the body. There will be a lite brown dot on each side if it's a girl on the 3rd segment back. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk - now Free
  7. Okay I just thought of another question! Do you offer a bowl of fresh and a bowl of salt water? I was reading that some people say to do that Yes I do!! The saltwater is important because they can't manager their own ion concentration in their body. So they need both to balance it out. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk - now Free
  8. It's okay. I went back the next day and found another awesome one. pics soon! Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk - now Free
  9. Molting still freaks me out and I've owned for a long time. Especially moose because he goes down for almost three months at a time. And the percent I have no idea. I do salinity, and the salinity should be like 1.020 ish. That would be a half cup of instant ocean in a full gallon of water. So that's like, 16 tablespoons of salt per 1 gallon... So like 6.25% ? I'm honestly awful at conversations. I'd just go with a half cup per gallon. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk - now Free
  10. Oh and one other thing. Running a crab under cold water if it pinches you is a terrrrrible idea. It stresses the crab out even further and it can go either way; hell either latch on harder or drop. I always suggest getting the crab to a flat surface and just holding it there until they crawl away. They only pinch if they feel threatened as they think theyre going to fall or they don't feel stable. I've only been pinched once and it was from moose. He broke my skin on my pointer finger. It was my own fault though because he was hanging from the roof of my terrarium and I tried to pry him off so he wouldn't hurt himself and he didn't like that so he grabbed me. And whoever said they're escape artists: so true. I've had many escapees. Once I didn't even notice and I was sitting on the couch watching a movie and out from under the tv stand came my little ecuadorian hermit crab, dragging dust bunnies behind him. 11. Hey Haley!!! This is so exciting!!! I've had hermit crabs for a lonnnnnggggg time now. This is what I also suggest for basic care; Tank Glass hood Depending on the size of your tank, I have a 40 breeder with 9 inches of substrate composed of a mixture of Eco earth and sand. I like the mixture a lot. It's like a 2:1, Eco to sand ratio. Then. I moisten with salt water to prevent molding. I have 3 heat sources: a heat lamp INSIDE the tank that I keep during the winter, and 2 heat pads on the side of the tank, partially next to the substrate but mostly above it. I keep the heat pads going 24/7. I have two large dishes for fresh and salt water. Because moose is so big I have to get everything huge to comply to his needs. And I put some pebbles in both to help the smaller crabs crawl in and out. I use instant ocean mix and just keep a gallon jug filled with it. It lasts forever. My food dish Is actually a large butter dish bottom. Again, large crab eats lots of food. For food, I do so many different things. Favorites are apples, grapes, sweet potato (both mashed and baby food), organic hot dogs (moosies absolute favorite. He'll grab slices and run with them.) chicken ham beef turkey baby food and also if I'm making any of the above for dinner I give them some before seasoning it, allll kinda of baby food that the ingredients are just the food and water. They looooove it. They like coconut, carrots, sometimes I give them homemade bread because they love it but that's more of a treat. Peanut butter, banana and honey is also another one I used to keep in my fridge pre mixed for a treat. I don't do any commercialized herm food. If you want something quick and easy, get repashy crested gecko diet. It's the best. Just make sure they're getting enough protein because if not they'll eat molters. You can do so many different things for food. Just google search it before doing it. For decorations I have a hiding cave, a couple of logs, cholla wood, cork wood etc. I put stuff in there they can eat as well as climb on and hide in. Then I do fake plants and fake flowers for more decoration. You can take things from your back yard as long as they're like oak, maple etc. nothing evergreen, it's toxic to them. And just boil it and make sure there's nothing on it for mold or anything. Shells: I have to special order shells for Moosie but everyone else gets craft store / Christmas tree shop shells. I boil them and throw them in. You can find nice turbo shells in those mags of misc shells. I mist mine a couple of times a day. And I try to change their food every other day. I'm not sure if I forgot anything but if you have any questions I'm almost 10000% sure I know the answer. Like Alex knows goldfish, I know hermit crabs Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk - now Free

  15. I had my not so L, LFS special order me some more things. This time, I was blown away. I swear I've made it my goal in life to get ahold of my favorite freshwater fish no matter how much money or how muc hassle. I've been searching for galaxy rasboras (celestial pearl danios) for months now. And I've FINALLY found them. Among with some freshwater fire shrimp. I've IN LOVE with these little danio/rasboras. They're SO little. Not even an inch yet and they're pretty much full grown. They look like miniature rainbow trout. Boy were they a pretty penny, but they were so worth it. This is the video with them and the fire shrimp. The very last couple of seconds is the fire shrimp and then something else thats red. That something else is a cherry shrimp, I was just showing the comparison of color. I just really needed to share with you these little guys. I'm SO happy I found them. Sorry the video is kinda crappy, all they do is move. http://instagram.com/p/hHwxDaOiAw/
  16. Fede I LOVE your tank. I need to start taking pictures of my tropical tanks and showing everyone. I've only ever taken pictures of my little nano planted tank. I love all the live bearers. And Goliath is quite an anomaly, he's adorable :D
  17. Oh man I've missed half the month! That's okay. I'm so thankful for kokos because I've been in quite a few forums and NOTHING compares. Everyone can be so rude on other forums. Kokos is he BEST. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk - now Free
  18. I went to Christmas Tree Shops and picked up some of those dollar window clings and went nuts decorating the tanks in just the living room My boyfriend begged me for the Red Sox ones, I couldn't resist, he's just too cute. So here's the living room as of right now. Tree and other decorations will be put up later. SIDENOTE: Judgement free zone, I LOVE CHRISTMAS DECORATING SO MUCH. Okay, I'm done I swear, I just had to share
  19. Alright, I haven't posted in a while so here is EVERYTHING that's happened in the past month. I got a new fish FOREVER ago, its been so long that I had to go look up my recent transactions of my petco pals rewards card to figure out what day I bought him... Worst part?! I never even told anyone. I put him in the QT for over 3 weeks. He's been in my tank for about a week and a half now. But ANYWAY. The QT was the most uneventful thing ever. Not even a single fluke. Nothing, I was like "ILL TAKE IT!!!" But I didn't tell anyone about it because I haven't had time to take nice pictures of him. And we all know what picture zombies you people are. Instead of brains, you run around going "piiiictuuuresss, piiiiiccctuuuressS" Then, I also got my hands on some reallllyyy nice nerites from my LFS and some cherry shrimp! I've been so busy busting my butt in school trying to do better that I've been slacking on keeping you guys updated. So here are pics of everyone. Update on the tank. Pics of snails. And a cherry shrimp for good measure. Thanks for reading, I love you guys. Sorry I haven't kept you updated. I swear, my fish are just so wiggly. I don't understand how you people get such nice pictures of your fish. I even went through the video tutorial of how to set my DSLR to the right settings and all I get are orange and calico blobs. Sometimes I get faces, sometimes. But then the bodies are blobs. So I just take videos and put them on my instagram because thats the easiest way for me to do it. Sorry they're not the best quality All you have to do is click the link then click the picture and it should play within ten seconds. Here is new fish, I LOVE his silver scales: http://instagram.com/p/hADeGDuiPW/ He's a lionhead. Old fish saying hi: http://instagram.com/p/hAESFzuiAm/ Nugget decided not to make an appearance. Cherry Shrimp: (Not in goldfish tank) Giant Nerite: (There are two in my tank, one was hiding) These aren't in the goldies tank. Oh and PS, all the weird sticker things you see on the outsides of my tanks, those are Christmas gel window clings. I had fun decorating. Pictures of that to come!
  20. Well. Bad news. That ring of plants? The wood rotted away from behind and started to grow grey mold on it. I'm fairly certain, since there wasn't a change in water quality and the only other thing that changed was the clam, that that's what killed all my fish. I took the ring out and almost immediately they stopped dying over night. I lost my 3 year old glass catfish, 2 of my rummy nose and all my long finned cherry barbs. Snail, clam and betta and 1 rummy made it out okay. This happened over the course of 24 hours. I'm so bummed I just don't understand how something that's supposed to be made aquatic completely rotted away like that. So I found some cherry shrimp and I'm trying those. Hopefully I can get this going again. So so so mad Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk - now Free
  21. As someone who does know a lot about saltwater, I would just like to say they're much better with their tanks and compatibility with those fishes. However, they overstock SO much in their saltwater tanks. Their freshwater tanks are very sad to watch; always overstocked and very poorly set up. I remember an episode with an 8 gallon tv for a little boy and they out close to 20 fish in it with no live plants. I do agree that this should be brought to their attention, if it hasn't been already. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk - now Free
  22. I was just about to come and make a post about this. That was insane!!!! I thought they were joking at first. They are probably the most influential people in the aquarium world and they go and do something like that..... Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk - now Free
  23. Aww! I'm glad I inspired you! It looks great already!
  24. If you want to grow him fast, get some beef heart that'll do the trick. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk - now Free
