  1. Those fishies are very lucky to have such a concerned and proactive mama! It's a bummer to start out with problems, but it looks like you are kicking butt.
  2. LOL! That's awesome. I see the title of that thread all the time. So much so that I didn't register it is the "weight and size of your fish" when I was looking for it. Thanks Mother! Maybe I'll be able to squeeze some more photos of the big guys out:) There are some owners of some very beautiful fish on this site. Sarah needs another coffee. lol
  3. Hi Guys, I've been weighing my fish now once a month for a while. Very cool to see how much they are growing. My biggest fish (now I can't find my notebook) weighs 94 grams, I think. Just wondering how much your biggest fish weighs and what kind of goldfish it is. I'd love (as always) to see some photos if you have any handy. I know some of you (Goliath lol) have some monster fishies:)
  4. I do too! Very zen.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Unless I'm sick. Then it becomes a chore, and I feel every one else's pain. LOL! Try sticking your head in a tank with the stomach flu...eeeeeeew. My whole fam had the stomach flu last week - ugh! - the worst****** - and i'm dealing with QT and a prazi treatment on a 55 - not fun* - much better this week...... feel better soon* I hear ya! I've got 4 kids and they like to get the virus one at a time. lol. Yay for me...

  8. You are doing great. With time and water changes it'll all fall into place:) Are you aware of the amazingness known as Prime? It conditions the water, builds slime coat and detoxifies ammonia, nitrite and nitrate for 24 hours. Really handy when cycling and dealing with ammonia/nitrite spikes. 9. Sarah, I still can't tell them apart!! Well, I have named spike#1 and spike#2 but that's bc their dorsals are spikes and that makes me sad. When you watch them, there are just so many I can't really tell them apart yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I figured so. lol I use photobucket to upload video. It links it to the site. Upload just like you would a photo. I find Youtube to be a pain sometimes.
  10. Lol. Have you named them? Or better yet, can you tell them apart? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I go 20 gallons per fish. One tank has 15 gallons per fish. I have about 325 gallons of water in my house. Plus spares for rescues. It's a full time job. Lol. These guys are my occupational therapy of sorts. Head over heels in love:) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I have "turned" quite a few people by showing them my collection. I don't say what kind of fish they are, I just show my tanks. Eventually, EVERY person asks what kind of fish one is. I always say "fancy goldfish". Then they ask what kind another is, same response. People are genuinely shocked that all of my fish are goldfish, but look so different, big and beautiful:) Most think of commons in a bowl. A girlfriend of mine came to visit me. She literally had tears in her eyes when she saw them. She fell in love and went home to start her own tank. She was a guppy breeder, so lots of aquarium experience. She said, by far, goldfish have been the most difficult yet rewarding fish to keep. I've had people ask why I bother with big tanks for them...a lot. Then I get to give them "the speech" lol. I o absolutely agree. You definitely get knocked down a few pegs when you announce what you keep. When I started out, I decided no goldfish at all. It was the only fish I was not interested in. Then I went to the fish store and saw my first goldfish, a telescope. 15 goldfish (and 7 tanks) later, I am now a believer. lol
  13. Thanks guys! Where's your pics? lol
  14. Hi Guys, I was looking at fish photos and freaking out at how much they've grown. I'd love to see your before and afters! This is Frankie. She is actually really sick right now. The "after" shot is from 2 days ago, so she doesn't look well and is in Bifuran, hence the yellow water. I guess this is a bit of an ode to her:) Before After
  15. I also use clean, conditioned water.
  16. My guy is just like this. I've dubbed him a "mooroscope".
  17. Looking forward to it! I'm so happy for you. You've done a perfect job and it ain't easy. With my 2 rescues I have right now and my sick ranchu, I have actually been able to let a couple batches of fry go. There is no way I was taking them on too. lol. Glad I got over that hurdle. I just can't watch. haha. Gotta say, I'm getting tired of picking eggs off plants. Are your guys still spawning?
  18. Ignore my comment about severe stress lol. It was about Frankie, wrong thread:)
  19. One of the causes is severe stress. She has been very floaty since I got her. She struggles at times. Gets tired. I'm wondering if her chronic condition has become too much for her. So far neither of the fish she was in with are sick. The tank is cycled and has no ammonia or nitrite. I did have ammonia at 0.5 when I cleaned the filters too much (duh) about a month ago. I dosed with Prime for the 48 hours that there was an issue, along with daily 75% water changes. I have some new meds on hand as well. Here's the list Kanaplex Neoplex Metroplex I picked up more Metro+ (which is probably the same or very similar to Metroplex, I assume) and Bifuran. So lots of that.
  20. This one got me a "photo of the week". She's a doll, too. But all moors are...I mean telescopes...I guess right now she's a mooroscope. I'll go with that:)
  21. Here are some shots of the "tumour". After palpating, I can report it is soft and spongy and looks like a tumour, not Lymphocystis. I'm curious as to what you guys think... It doesn't look as "cauliflowery" as the other guy's did.
