  2. hi all I have had an email from hagen over flow rate abit confusing to say the least the manual says one thing and the reps say another who should I believe.you have to start at the bottom from the beginning of the email New Message Dear Mr E The flow can be regulated for short periods of time during maintainance,I would not recommend a restriction of 10% or over permanently, this could cause back pressure on the canister leading to leaks or premature motor failure. You could make a spary bar out of 1" solvent weld pipe with at least 30 x 8mm holes drilled. Best Regards, Jonathan Wright Aquatic Customer Service/Technical Advisor Rolf C. Hagen (UK) Ltd. California Drive Whitwood Industrial Estate Castleford, West Yorkshire WF10 5QH http://www.hagen. 01/07/2013 it states you can use this to regulate flow.does not state that it has to be used for maintainence only heres the copy word for word out of the manual AquaStop Valves The AquaStop valve makes maintenance easy by allowing you to stop the water flow with an easy 90-degree turn of the valve lever. This means you can separate the hosing from the filter in one step. The valve lever can also be used to regulate water flow with no harm to the motor or its components. Three Valves are provided; one for the intake, one for the output and one to be used to drain the filter under certain circumstances during the maintenance process. Click- Paula Dodds (Hagen Customer Service Rep) 01/07/2013 Hi Yes, it's just showing you where to open and close it. The aquastops should be fully open when in use (except temporarily during maintenance etc) Thank you just been reading throught the manual and where it has aquastop state off the art technology it states yo can turn the flow down if this is not true then why has this been printed in the manual thank you so could you please tell me what the bars(notches) are for on the aqua stop connectors thank you Paula Dodds (Hagen Customer Service Rep) 01/07/2013 It is not recommended to run the filter with the aquastops half closed, you could burn out the motor. Many thanks Paula thank you for the reply could you please tell me what the bars are for on the aquastop valves which start with a wide bar and gradually gets smaller I was told that I could close both valves by 50% and no more from a maidenhead aquatics store is this true or not. they said the valves have to be closed the same amount due to water entering and leaving and his way you would not get back pressure or are they wrong thank you once again Paula Dodds (Hagen Customer Service Rep) 28/06/2013 Dear J Please accept my apologies for the mis-information. The A235 is for the Fluval 05/06 filters not the FX5. It does not fit the FX5. I am afraid we do not supply a spray bar for FX5, it pumps too high a volume of water and a spray bar is not really compatible. Again, apologies for the confusion. Many thanks Paula hi is this spraybar kit for the fx5 A235 Paula Dodds (Hagen Customer Service Rep) 28/06/2013 Dear Jeffrey, Thank you for your email. It is not a good idea to restrict the flow. This can cause back pressure and can damage the motor and impeller. There is a Fluval Spray Bar kit available. The part number is A235. To locate either a local or on-line stockist, please log on to our website at www.hagen.com and click on the dealer locator link. Please note that this does not tell you if the item is in stock so it is worth calling the store first to ensure that the product is in stock. Please do not hesitate to contact us again should you require any further assistance. Many thanks Paula 27/06/2013 can the flow rate be altered if it is to powerful for the tank if so do you use the aquastop only on the outtake pipe or have they got to be equal on intake and outtake. the flow is to powerful for my fancy goldfish also do you do a spraybar for the fx5 if so where could I buy one from please -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you, Hagen Customer Service
  3. hi my tank is a 4ft bow fronted tank and the flow seems a little to strong for the tank.I need the eheim 2217 as this has my uv filter on and I do believe if I just have the fx5 then this would not be enough filteration as the max flow is around 600 us gallons so I would need both of the filters for 10x filteration fx5 600galls 2217 220galls tank 65.5 gall
  4. himy tank is a 4ft tank and the flow seems a little to strong for the tank
  5. sorry turn the flow rate down on the fx5.
  6. hi I have a Vicenza 260 and running a eheim 2217 and fx5. my question is to turn the flow rate down do I have to 1)just turn the outtake down or 2)have to turn both intake and outtake down this way I would not have to make a spraybar thanks again
  7. Heres a vid of my tank https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmeAWhzn4W4&feature=youtube_gdata_player
  8. hi the diameter of the outtake pipe is 30mm and the nozzle head that is on there at the moment is the fx5 output head which measures 24mm in diameter.so it is either pipe work to fit inside the 30mm which is 24mm, or pipe work which will fit over the 30mm pipe.i am running an fx5 filter on the tank.if I could get the 24mm then all I would need is 2 elbows a end cap and a 3ft length pipe thanks jeff
  9. hi just bought got a fluval Vicenza and was wondering if anyone outthere has made a spraybar for the outtake that is with the tank. if so what size pipe work did you use as I am struggling to find pipe work to make a spraybar. does any one know where I could buy either 24mm or 30mm pipe work with in the u.k thanks jeff
  10. Hi If you have seen how good the bogwood is in the tanks then would it not be your worthwhile soaking it as some of the members on here as said.and that way your tank will look as amazing as some of the tanks you have seen, a month will soon passby just change the water ever other day. Good luck
  11. If they are still spawning try a spawning mop and once you have seen them do there thing then put this in another tank I think you will find you will have a lot more eggs that way
