  1. Ammonia is still the same Nitrites and Nitrates are 0
  2. Wait....so 4ppm ammonia is fine when running a cycle with media from an established tank?
  3. I'm making nessacry water changes to lower the ammonia. So far I've done a approx 30-40% change. Running an ammonia test right now.
  4. Input to those would be greatly appericated.
  5. The forum's own website: http://www.kokosgoldfish.com/FishlessCycle.html
  6. No I'm just very fusterated when everything says to raise ammonia to 4ppm and I clearly posted that I was going to be using media from a tank that is already cycled. No one bothered to tell me to raise to ammonia to 1ppm instead of 4ppm. I'm really confused and fusterated right now. I've got 2 threads where people are sending me back and forth. Why does the ammonia amount matter when the cycle is eventually getting rid of it on it's own anyhow? I'm ready for this to be done and over with. Tired of "no do this" "No do that" over and over.
  7. Well I wasnt informed of that before :/ The ammonia now sits at 4ppm. The pH is at 7.0 and I am using the small sponge media from my betta's cycled tank.
  8. Well, I added approx a 1/4 cup into the tank. This is what I appear to be having:
  9. Fudge....looks like too much ammonia likely got added. That means water changes
  10. I got my ammonia. Went to 3 flippin stores! But I got it! Now, do I need to wait a certain time between adding and testing? Do I really have to wait 5 mins for my API test? Thanks! Read more:
  11. How much of this media should be put into my HOB? I was thinking 2 of the pre-bagged ones would do fine. Maybe I'm just thinking my filter maybe smaller than it actually is.
  12. You did a better job than we did. I feel like we didn't use enough silicone. But it's holding, so apparently we used enough.
  13. I'm going to PetsMart tomorrow and I want to make sure I get the right one. http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4455081&f=PAD%2FpsNotAvailInUS%2FNo or http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11147284&f=PAD%2FpsNotAvailInUS%2FNo
  14. WHOA! That's alotta media!! I also second Oerba Yun Fang's suggestion
  15. wowzers, if his plants look like those pictured, then clearly he doesn't pick the best for his customers.
  16. Yes yes, I know you don't add fish doing the cycle.....
  17. It appears to be completely settled now. Looks very pretty.
  18. I know about adding the ammonia Forgive me, I have a mild short-term memory loss, I don't remember reading about how many teaspoons will be added. Adding ammonia? I was under the impression that you raise it to 4ppm and let it go to work. I still don't know how long I should wait between adding the fish?
  19. So say I fish-less cycled. How much ammonia would be needed? And how long would it take? I read that if you raised it to 80F it would take 30 days. Obivously so you don't crash the system. How many fish would you add? How long between adding more fish?
  20. Amano shrimp. I have 2 in my betta's tank. And they just LOVE LOVE eatting up the hair algae.
  21. It's a 75 gallon. Are you speaking of Fluval Biomax? That's the only BioMax I am finding. I succesfully used sponge only media in my betta tank. But he and the shrimps don't produce that much waste, I'm sure the ceramic will help in the 75. I'll be fish in cycling. I am confident that the plants I'll be getting will help me in cycling the tank.
  22. It's an older tank. The trim is a wood like trim. Not wood made, but wood print. We also didn't fully silicone the trim. Just siliconed it to stay put on the tank.
