  1. So, about a month ago, I started having issues with my 20 gallon tank, nitrates and nitrites went high, so my Oranda goldfish started to suffer. I made 40-50% daily water changes, with prime and bacteria, and I thought she was doing better. Iam already treating her for fin rot, but none of what I've done has made a difference. I fed her 4 days ago, just to avoid more waste. But today I measured the levels again and the tank has 2.0 nitrites and 20 nitrates, I don't know what else to do. Already added aquarium salt to help her, but she doesn't look good. I think she's developing dropsy, since some of her scales look a bit damaged. PLEASE HELP!!! My tank has been running since february, and hadn't had any issues till now. -Forgot to mention, I test the water for ammonia: 0 -
  2. sorry I dont have the other parameters, I dont have the test kits, only have the one to measure ammonia :/
  3. HELP! I don't know what else to do, sigh my goldfish got ick from another fish I added about a month ago, unfortunately the fish died, cleaned the aquarium and treated my goldfish with ick jungle treatment, he recovered, some weeks later he got fin rot, checked the ammonia levels and they were 3.0 at that time. This time I gave him melafix, before that people recommended to make a 30% water change daily so I did. Today my fish is gasping at the bottom of the tank, ammonia levels 3.0 and I can see some red spots over his body, fin rot still the same, this is his third day treatment. I went to the pet shop and they gave me some gravel that go on the filter which would lower the ammonia levels but I dont see any positive reaction. what else can I do? Test Results for the Following: Other Required Info: * Ammonia Level (tank): 3.0 * Ammonia Level (Tap): 0.0 * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? * What kind of water additives or conditioners? * Water temperature? * How often do you change the water and how much? * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? four days ago, 25% water change * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 20 gallons, about 2 months running * How many fish in the tank and their size? 1 comet goldfish, 5-6 inches * What do you feed your fish and how often? once a day every day like 7 flakes. * Any new fish added to the tank? a pleco, died about 3 weeks ago, then everything went wrong * Any medications added to the tank? stress zyme by api, melafix by apy, gravel to lower the aquarium by petco, this week. * List previous issues experienced (dropsy, SBD, etc.) ich, fin rot * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus?, bloody streaks * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? gasping at the bottom of tank, he doesn't eat anymore, he only swims for a while then goes back to the bottom. * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. jungle ich treatment, 4 weeks ago 5 days melafix, two teaspoons, 4 days (recently started treating him with this) aquarium salt, three teaspoons, 3 days (changed the water 25% this three days that's why i added salt again) stress zyme, 1 teaspoon 1 day this week (when I changed the water) gravel, this goes on the filter behind the carbon, It says it lowers the ammonia and chloramine on water, ammonia still high
