  1. awesome thanks for the responses I am checking those sites out now. I looked up livefish.com.au when i was in the market for buying my fish but they where unable to provide many details on the fish. I assume they use drop shipping or order from the supplier once they get an order, as they said as soon as the fish come in they go. I decided was best not to buy my fish like that. I wanted to know their colors and see them if possible. Though I might check them out for plants
  2. What online stores do you other Aussies use? I am looking for quality, low price and good delivery times. I live is Brisbane and so far have brought all my supplies and gold fish from a physical store; Petcity at mount gravatt. I have been to a lot of pet shops/aquariums around the southside of Brisbane and Petcity has (in my opinion) the healthiest looking fish and tank accessories at a reasonable price. I am looking for some other accessories, such a gravel siphon, food and a few other things. I am also looking out for a new larger tank. I am hoping to find a 2nd hand bargain! What's everyone experiences with online stores?
  3. ok awesome. When you say Prime daily, do you mean add enough Prime to cover the whole contents on the tank. Or only when doing water changes ?
  4. ok that's good to know. One less issue to have to sort out. Thank you !
  5. for anyone interested here is an update on this issue; I picked up my API fresh water test kit today and my results are as follows; * Ammonia Level (tank): 0.25ppm * Nitrite Level (tank) 0 * Nitrate level (Tank) 0 * Ammonia Level (Tap): 0.25ppm * Nitrite Level (Tap) - i did not bother checking as it was 0 in tank * Nitrate level (Tap) - i did not bother checking as it was 0 in tank * Ph Level, (Tank) (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 8 * Ph Level, (Tap) (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 8 So my understanding is until my tank has completed it's cycle it will not be possible for me to get the water below 0.25 ammonia. My ph seems a little high, i have read 7.5 is best for goldfish. At the pet shop it was 7.0 so as advised by one of the guys that works there i added some bit of coral to bring it up. Maybe this was a bad idea. I will have to look into how to bring it down Edit: i just remembered that Prime bring the ammonia down, so maybe I am able to bring the ammonia level down
  6. ok great idea on diluting the Prime. I will be testing the water when i get my kit today, will see if there is any issues. I do have several live plants in the tank which may be helping keep some of the numbers down
  7. ok cool, i was a bit worried that i might of hurt the fish holding it. Another question; this is my first time changing water, i emptied about 30% of the tank using a bucket. Now i am filling it up using the 9 liter bucket. PRIME is 1 cap/5ml per 200l. I am adding such a small amount to each of these buckets before i add their contents to the tank. I am also letting the bucket stand for awhile so it reaches the same room temperature as the tank. Is this the right process ? It feels like I am adding too little PRIME. BTW i just noticed your from Brisbane, so am I!
  8. ok, cool, tanks alot for your help, i am going to do a 30% water change now and i am getting the missus to pick up a water test kit tomorrow so i will be ontop of it all after tomorrow. Cheers! If you have any further tips and trick for newbies let me know !
  9. well i am pretty attached to my fish now, so I will keep them and do regular water changes. So you say 30% several times a day ? Would 2 fish this small create that much ammonia?
  10. ok, thank you for that information. I was completely unaware that my tank might of completed the cycling process. ###### now i feel bad for getting the fish so soon ! So i guess i need to change some of the water everyday, until i get my water testing kit and then i can determine what to do and when from there
  11. yes the the one on the top lip showed 2 days ago and the eye one just today. My other fish is a black Ranchu so it would be hard to tell if the same thing is happening to him. But as far as i can tell he is fine
  12. Hi Narny, Thanks for your response. I was told by the guy at the pet store that by using Seachem Stability it removed the need for a longer cycle as it adds the good bacteria to the tank all within 7 days. Ok sounds like i need to invest in a water testing kit. Unfortunately I wont be able to pick one up until late night shopping Thursday.
  13. I could not get any good photos as i have a really bad camera and did not want to stress the fish out, so i gave up taking pic, this is probably the only half clear one, you can kind of see from the top one eye (on your right) is darker on top. Sorry the photo is still pretty bad http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/ab145/dentee82/IMG_20130114_205153_zpsc7d0b742.jpg

  15. Hi guys ! My little pearlscale has what looks to be a scratch on its upper lip and a black eye. The scratch is a a few milometers long and is dark gray is color, almost black. A similar thing has happened with one of his eyes, there is a gray, almost black circle around it. The circle is not completely around the eye, just around the front half. Has anyone seen/heard of something like this before? I checked all the common diseases and this does not seem to be any of them. I am very new to gold fish and only had this guys for four days. I would be grateful for any advise ! thank you edit: i just noticed a typo in the title; *possible
