  1. Ah thank you great advice! That's my problem I wasn't using enough water! Pantyhose is interesting as well!
  2. Oh yes I have been dosing salt at that amount! I heat the water to dissolve it, but its very hard to make it all dissolve. Any advice on how to do make it all dissolve? The white spot has disappeared after my water change. I was later in the day than usual with it. I'm hoping he heals nicely. Ill keep you guys updated. I can still see something there, but it has decreased greatly, I'm glad you made me take pics from that view, because I have something to compare it to now. Thank you!
  3. Hi guys thought you would like an update. He is doing much better! Feeding him his meds! I'm going to put him back in the tank at end of treatment and dose with prazi again. Not exactly sure what it was, but a lot of the redness is gone and now is isolated to one scale. A part of the scale looks like its pointed out, not sure if it will fall off. Ill keep on eye on it and see if I can get a better pic of his side tommorow. The only newer thing I noticed was that white spot on the top of his fin. Not sure what that is?
  4. Okay thanks! Ill keep u posted! I appreciate your help!
  5. I treated with prazi pro. Treatment ended about two months ago. Should I do it again? Or wait till this clears up and he is back in the main tank and treat them all at once. I can't treat the infected fish in the qt because I I have to daily water changes in there.
  6. Okay thank you! So no aquarium salt needs to be added at this time either? Just metro meds. I will update with any changes better or worse. Oh and what about his tank mates. Do they need to be treated also? Doesn't that effect the whole tank? All the others seem healthy right now.
  7. Thank you for answering me! I don't believe it is from an injury, he was fine all day and when I came home I noticed this. It's hard to tell from the pics, but his scales are standing out, only in that area though. I currently have metro meds, medi gold, and prazi, epson salt, aquarium salt on hand if needed for emergencies.

I see nothing protruding from the area yet, just scales of fish. Here is a pic. He naturally has that orange tinge to him in the area of the raised scales.

  10. Sure I will start a new thread for him.
  11. The baby may need metro meds too? I had started prazi treatment, but had ammonia spike of .25 and the ph got thrown off. So I had to change the water day two of treatment. So I am still fussing with the ammonia. For some reason it was hanging around .25. I thought the tank was cycled , I also had substrate from my cycled 75 gallon in that tank. So not sure why it was spiking. I want to help this little guy, let me know when you think I should start MM. Or what I should do for him. Thanks for the help! Once he is healthy ill be moving him to a 75 gallon tank.
  12. Okay! No more salt though right? I did it epson salt for eight days and that's it. While I have your ear...lol, I have a ranchu I just got about a week or more ago. He is in a qt. from day 1 this is how he has been. Even in the store. His head down and tail up. He comes out to eat swims for a bit and then goes back to the position. Is this something to be worried about? It's a 29 gallon tank. He is about an inch long, literally a baby. Here is a quick video... http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/b584/Dana_La_Scala-_Huckle/d33e9a51ac7d3065428d3e92eb3940d3_zps599e351f.mp4
  13. Oh! I was only feeding him 6 pellets. It didn't say how much to feed him! He is roughly the size of a golf ball. I will start feeding him more then! If he does get better how long can it take? How long do I feed him the MM. And will it be safe to eventually bring him back to his tank mates? Sorry for all the questions. Never had this happen before!
  14. These picks below are before I moved him to the hospital tank... And yes I did raise the temp.
  15. Hi guys thanks for answering me! He has been on metro meds for 6 days now. I feed him about 6 pellets a day. He is about the size of a golfball. He is now off the epson salt because he was on Epson salt for 8 days per advice from this site about dropsy. It said no longer than that amount? 1/4 teaspoon. His poop is solid brown. I have to run my daughter to school. I change his water everyday in the hospital tank so I will take a top view pic then. I will also download the app so hopefully I can upload it without a problem! Thank guys. Not sure where to go from here with my little guy.
  16. Sorry I took awhile to respond! He is in a qt tank. I have been doing water changes daily, treated with 1/4 tsp epson salt. He is also on metro meds. He is swimming and eating, but still has raised scales. I have never dealt with this before so I don't know what to expect or how quickly to see improvement. He acts normal besides the raised scales and bloating. Is this typical? He does seem to be pineconing less now though. Sorry still having picture posting issues. I'm on my iPad. boards)
  17. I'm sorry to intrude on the posts, but my ryukin has dropsy I think. He is pineconed. I have had him in qt for a week now. He is on metro meds and I finished the epson salt treatment. He still has raised scales but is eating and swimming and looks fine otherwise. I see you dosed with prazi. Is that something I should do? I'd like to get him healthy as soon as possible. I have been doing daily WC. You have had great success and I'd like to as well! Any help or advice greatly appreciated!
  18. Sorry not medi gold. Lol. It's the other pro gold. Okay I'll try to get pics.
  19. Hey guys I'm unsure if this is dropsy or just typical ryukin growing! Thanks for help! Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. * You can really help us to identify with the concern more accurately if you post some pictures and a short video. So here it is I have an oranda. He has had a white spot on his wen from about almost the time I purchased him. It comes and goes, so I thought it was wen growth. Then a week ago it got a little fuzzy so I thought maybe fungal. Dabbed the area with a bit of peroxide. Seemed to help. Next day a new little pimple spot appeared. With a white head. Then a little white string coming from it. Within an hour it fell off. Did a bit of research and thought maybe anchor worm. But looked at picks and there wasn't a "y" end to it nor a red spot where it was coming from. So I was told to try bio bandage on it. I have been applying that with feeding him medi gold. Seemed to get better where it went down and became that slightly whit area again on the wen. I applied the bio bandage again this morning, but after about 15 min I noticed something stringy coming out again. This time the color was slightly orange. Not sure if it was the bio bandage coloring it. Because I notice it turns slight pinkish when applied. Then again as quick as it appeared it disappeared. Now later today looks like that whit wen growth again. If you couldn't tell I'm extremely confused and concerned. All his friends including him are eating and acting normal. No other visible signs of anything wrong. So what should I do? Is it tape worms, anchor worms, treat for flukes, fungal, or something else. Worried about my little guy. I have pics just not sure how to post them? Thank you all!
