  1. Sure! I'll check again in a few days and report back. Thanks for taking a look for me!
  2. There are a few little white spots on his tail. The ones that concerned me in the first place are around his eyes. I know he's got breeding stars on his fins in the front and on the bottom fins too. I should really learn what those fins are called. Is it normal to have spots on the tail? They're not in a line like the breeding stars on his other fins. I just wanna make sure he's okay!
  3. Here's a video, it's hard to see the little white dots but I think in the video you can see them around his eyes. Let me know what you think and I can try and get some pics. It seems like posting on photobucket really diminishes the video quality. And let's pretend the diatoms aren't there. They're out of control!!
  4. I got a video but its taking a long time to upload, I'll post it when I'm back from work. Thanks!
  5. I'll try and get a picture...not sure how well it'll turn out. I'll try and post one in the morning. The light in the tank is off right now. And yes he's a boy and has breeding stars but these little white dots are around his eyes, a few on the ends of his tail, and on his sides. I do have a heater as well.
  6. Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level (tank): 0 * Nitrite Level (tank) 0 * Nitrate level (Tank) 5-10 * Ammonia Level (Tap): 0 * Nitrite Level (Tap) 0 * Nitrate level (Tap) 0 * Ph Level, (Tank) (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 8.2 * Ph Level, (Tap) (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 7.6 Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? API drop test kit * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Fluval C4 HOB and fluval 306 canister filter, together rated for 564 gph * What kind of water additives or conditioners? Prime * Water temperature? 71 * How often do you change the water and how much? Every 4 days, 50% * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? Yesterday, 50% * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 55 gallons, since December. * How many fish in the tank and their size? 3: 45 g, 6 g, and one tiny little guy. * What do you feed your fish and how often? Twice a day, repashy SG, peas, bloodworms once in a while, saki Hikari for fancy goldfish. * Any new fish added to the tank? Yes, the little one about 2 weeks ago. He was not quarantined as he came from my friend and was the only goldfish in the tank. * Any medications added to the tank? Treated the first two with salt and prazi. * List previous issues experienced (dropsy, SBD, etc.) none * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? The biggest fish has little tiny white dots on him. * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? I see him sitting in the corner occasionally but I'm not sure if he's bottom sitting or sleeping. * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. Salt and prazi, 5 rounds. * You can really help us to identify with the concern more accurately if you post some pictures and a short video. I think my one fish has ich and I'm wondering if it came with my new fish that I obviously foolishly did not quarantine. I can try to get pics but I'm not sure if the little white dots will show up. I first noticed them around his eye, now I can see some more little white dots on his side. Just wondering if I should buy medication and if so, what kind? Thanks.
  7. Just updating....I decided to check on my 3 snails...who I had named Granny Smith. I think my goldfish ate them. Their shells are empty and their trapdoors aren't attached anymore. Is this common? I'm not sure if I should try snails again.
  8. I have the 306 and think its a great canister filter. It can hold tons of media. I have a 55 gallon with a 306 and a fluval C4 HOB which in total filters 564 GPH. The 306 alone is rated for 303 GPH and when it's stuffed full of media who knows what that number is. I would recommend a spray bar if possible but I thought they weren't making them anymore... The outflow on it is really strong. I have it pointed at one of the side walls of my tank and it has literally cleared out/pushed away all the sand below where the outflow is. I do think a spray bar would be super helpful well because I just think the current it puts out is too much. My only goldfish that can really stand it is my largest which is 45 g. My little one doesn't really go over to that side of the tank anymore. Lol. The one that Flips linked to should work but it says it'll fit the 305 and hopefully the 306 too!! We'll see if anyone else has possibly bought one and what the outcome was!!
  9. Just updating. My snails literally haven't moved. I know they're alive because their trapdoors are shut. But one of them died. And got eaten I found his trap door and empty shell during a water change. The other two just lay there on their side. Is this normal? They literally haven't moved since I got them. Ugh. Do you think it has something to do with my water?
  10. Thanks, Alex. I took a video on my iphone...looks kinda crappy after emailing it to myself, saving it, and uploading it to photobucket. There hasn't been a whole lot of chasing going on, I'm pretty sure Taco is a male because he has breeding stars on his front fins (not sure what those fins are called) and I don't know if Mango is a male or female. The elastics on the filters are there in case I need to cover the filters so their fins don't get sucked in but they seem to be alright with the amount of water that comes out, although my Fluval 306 does have quite a bit of a strong current. All the plants are silk, I don't even bother trying to keep the one in the middle up as they constantly knock it down. Might want to mute it as my fiance was previewing songs on itunes lol P.S ignore the diatoms, I'm fighting a losing battle and my snails seem to be on strike
  11. Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level (tank): 0 * Nitrite Level (tank) 0 * Nitrate level (Tank) 5 * Ammonia Level (Tap):0 * Nitrite Level (Tap) 0 * Nitrate level (Tap) 0 * Ph Level, (Tank) (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 8.2 Not sure of KH/GH * Ph Level, (Tap) (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 7.6 Not sure of KH/GH, although I can access these values on my city website if need be. Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? API drop test * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Fluval C4 HOB filter, Fluval 306 Canister filter * What kind of water additives or conditioners? Prime * Water temperature? 71f * How often do you change the water and how much? Right now I'm following the prazi schedule, just started round 3 * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? Yesterday, 50% * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 55 gallons, been running since December * How many fish in the tank and their size? 2 goldfish, one black oranda (Taco - 45 grams) and one calico oranda (Mango - 6 grams) * What do you feed your fish and how often? Twice a day. Usually Saki Hikari Fancy Goldfish sinking pellets in the morning, and either Repashy SG, bloodworms or peas in the evening. * Any new fish added to the tank? Taco and Mango were added at the same time, added 3 apple snails last week. * Any medications added to the tank? Just Prazipro, if that counts * List previous issues experienced (dropsy, SBD, etc.) n/a * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? I found Taco had two scales missing on his side today. Also it looks a little fuzzy and white around the area where the scales are missing. * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? he's still acting and eating normally. No bottom sitting. * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. Never had any other treatment apart from Prazi I think I covered most of it with the questions above.... I'm not sure if this is a big issue or anything but I checked Mango thoroughly and she doesn't have any scale loss. I just want to make sure this isn't something more serious, and would rather be safe than sorry. Here's a picture I took of Taco when I noticed his scales missing. Sorry if it's not super clear. Any insight would be appreciated!
  12. Thanks everyone! Looking forward to cleaning my filter next water change!
  13. Hi! My tank just finished cycling and I had read somewhere that its not advisable to clean out the filter/media/sponge while it was going through its cycle. It's been over 2 months and has not been cleaned and I've been getting steady readings of 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, and some nitrates 40-ish by the time a WC is needed. Cycled! I can tell my HOB filter needs to be cleaned. Should I do this on a different day than when I clean out my canister filter? Also, does anyone have a fluval 306 canister? It's water out flow is super strong and I'm wondering if that's bad for my goldfish or if its not a big deal. Thanks!
  14. I believe they are the same
  15. I moved them into my tank with the prazi. They've all moved around which is good but now I'm wondering how I'm supposed to feed them when my one goldfish is a little piggy. He tries to eat anything regardless if its food or not. He even thought the snails were food for a good hour before he gave that up. Lol Any tips?
