  12. Hi guys and gals, I'm doing a fishless cycle in my 100L tank. As I had an issue getting a hold of some pure ammonia, I opted to put a teaspoon of fish food in the tank for 5 days as I'd been advised to do to get the ammonia level up. Once the ammonia level was at 4.0 I took the food out. At this stage my readings are as follows: Ammonia: 2.0ppm Nitrite: 5.0ppm Nitrate: 80ppm It was only 5 days ago that I even saw the slightest sign of nitrites and I have been doing this cycle for 28 days now. And Nitrates have seemed to have popped out of no where - my reading for Nitrate was 0 only 3 days ago. According to the http://www.kokosgoldfish.com/FishlessCycle.html page, my readings seem a little unusual. Or are they? (I've never done this before) My question is, essentially, should I do a water change now or what do I do? Thanks =)
  13. Really well thanks, you can barely tell he hurt himself now. It's healing up very nicely. Thank you so much =) Looks like he will be absolutely fine. It's healing fast and quite well.
  14. Ok, sure thing Thanks again!
  15. Yeah it's cycled, got media from his previous tank =) Some pure salt and 2x 30% water changes during the week it is!! Thank you
  16. I'm not sure but I think my fish (Cosmos) may have hurt himself somehow. I saw this red scale/wound on his body yesterday and today it's worse/ bigger. I'm really concerned about him. He suffers Swim Bladder Disorder and I'm currently trying to treat him for it (if I can). He is 8 years old! Here is a video so you can also see what I mean - http://s28.beta.phot...swound.mp4.html It's in slow motion to try and capture as much as I could. Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level (Tank): 0 * Nitrite Level (Tank): 0 * Nitrate level (Tank): 5ppm * Ammonia Level (Tap): 0.25ppm * Nitrite Level (Tap): 0ppm * Nitrate level (Tap): 0ppm * Ph Level, (Tank): 7.5 * Ph Level, (Tap): 8.0 Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? API master, drops * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Unsure, it's the one that comes with the "70L Blue Planet Classic" Aquarium * What kind of water additives or conditioners? API Stress coat * Water temperature? 25 Celsius / 77 Fahrenheit * How often do you change the water and how much? changed the water once so far (had the setup for only a week) Planning on keeping an eye on Nitrates to know how often to do them. * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? Yesterday, 20% * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 70L / 18.5gals * How many fish in the tank and their size? 1, unsure of exact size but estimating 11-12cm from mouth to tail tip * What do you feed your fish and how often? a variety of things, blood worms, peas, pelits, vegetables * Any new fish added to the tank? No * Any medications added to the tank? One dose of API Melafix (yesterday) * List previous issues experienced - Swim bladder issues * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? Open Wound * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? Nill * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. The tank is fairly new - it's been running for a week. He was transferred from another tank into this one. This tank has been treated with StressCoat and the medication has only been one dose of API Melafix (yesterday). From what I understand my fish was treated with Melafix once before as well.
  17. Cool thanks! I thought he was a ryukin with a single tail like the Sabao but they do have the flowing tail don't they. Thank you!! I think his body shape is more fantail than ryukin, so yeah I would call him a nymph rather than a tamasaba (sabao). He's very unique! I bet you're so happy to have him with you at your place now! Awesome, good to know! Thanks for that Oh I am very happy to have him here HAHA! awesome glad you enjoyed it! Thanks heaps!!
  18. Cool thanks! I thought he was a ryukin with a single tail like the Sabao but they do have the flowing tail don't they. Thank you!!
  19. Thanks Hehe yup! I'm sure he will Thank you. Aww thank you!! I'm glad things went well to There's a few years left in him yet and I plan on making them as awesome as possible for him!! I am so in love with his coloring! He reminds me of orange sherbet/vanilla swirl ice cream A few years? The oldest living goldfish was 43 years old, so you might have to put this guy in your will Haha! Oh wow really? Gee I might have to! thanks thanks
