  1. So Goldy's not swallowing too much if anything at all how do I syringe feed MM?
  2. No I don't... I think I should get new hoses for the canister, just noticed there seems to be some kind of sludge looking thing growing on them!
  3. Oh No! Now another one of my babies is sick! This time it's Goldy my oranda (he had a previous near death illness a year ago and the presentation is very similar to today's). He's pineconing a bit and was laying sideways on the tank's bottom. I can't do it until the weekend but I decided to do a full tank cleaning (filter medias and rinsing all of the tank's sand). I do 75-100% w/c weekly - but its been a while since I've done a full on substrate cleaning (other than surface vacuuming). Checked levels and all was ok: ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 0-10. I'm starting to worry I've got something bad in my main tank... Anyways I can't setup a second qt tank until tomorrow so I put him in with Clarence after weighing him in at 64g. Tried feeding MM but he kept spitting them out - probably only ate like 4 pellets out of the 10 I gave him Will setup second QT tomorrow and probably will have to syringe feed him if he doesn't want to eat he takes the pellets but spits them out after a few seconds... Here he is floating around the qt tank PS Clarence is great - shedding some of his scales were the big lump was, but looking great otherwise.
  4. Hi everyone! Just wanted to update you on Clarence's progress - things are going great! He's swimming normally again and looks a whole lot better He's still a little pineconed but a little less everyday. I'm doing 100% w/c every other day. He's been on MM for 4 days now - will finish the 14 day cycle...
  5. Hi everyone! Clarence is starting to look a lot better now the lump on his right side has shrinked some and he is now swimming normally! The pineconing is still there but less marked than a couple of nights ago... Here's a video of him today:
  6. Yay! MM arrived Clarence already ate up his first dose - he'll be getting 29 pellets daily... He ate 10 of those tonight already! Pineconing is still there - I've seen no difference with the epsom salt in... Here are some more pics and a video of him eating his last pellets (he was almost full when I decided to take a video) and swimming.
  7. Hi everyone! Today's update: the redness has diminished a lot - still there but not as intense as the other night... Clarence is a fighter - he's eating all of his gel food and moving around a lot more - within his current movement capabilities that is... No MM yet - crossing my fingers so maybe when I get home from work they're here.
  8. Thanks Tithra... Already ate his first dose... He goes crazy over his repashy... Next feeding will be tomorrow - lets see how he's doing in the morning... W/C due tomorrow - will update with pics
  9. Ok so I made a batch of 50g of food with 500mg of metro inside. I weighed Clarence in at 58g so ~0.5-0.6g daily feedings of metro gel food for the little guy... I think I hurt him a bit while moving him to be weighed - wiggled a lot while being transferred Hopefully the redness will go away...
  10. I do - the tablets are 500mg - I'll do the math How much should I feed him once its done?
  11. Adding epsom salt right now! Thanks so much tithra for all your help - it's very stressful watching him blow up like that He's always been such a fun and active little guy!
  12. I forgot to say he's a big food hog - he's still got his appetite untouched *thankfully*
  13. I only have a notice that the mm shipped on tuesday. I think they should be here hopefully by Saturday, Monday at the latest. I do have some Metro pills and repashy is the only thing my goldies eat... What are the instructions to follow to prepare medicated food with repashy? I have metro dissolved in the water right now - can I add epsom salt? How much for the 10g qt?
  14. The only thing I've noticed is that his eye looks a little better but that's it so far... My little guy is pineconing a little more every day
  15. Dissolve it, and add 200 mg per 10 gallons. Do 100% WC every two days and redose. Hopefully the MMs will come sooner rather than later. Thanks Alex you're always a life saver
  16. Yes I can - but it'd have to be tomorrow how do I proceed with Metronidazole tabs?
  17. Ordered the MM but am afraid they won't get here on time His scales all look a bit raised now - I think he's started to pinecone a little! he's very active as usual though - at least he's got that going for him... His eyes today look a little popped out - not so yesterday... Here's a pic from this morning before moving him to the QT tank... Need help
  18. I have melafix, pimafix, prazipro, I think I may have some malachite green - that's about it.

Clarence one of my lionheads has a big lump on his right side, scales are raised over lump and it looks red underneath. * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? They're all their normal food hogging selves, the affected lionhead is swimming a little awkwardly - but eating normally. Hi again! It just seems I've been coming up here just for help lately This time it's Clarence - one of my lionheads... Two days ago one of his side scales looked a little raised - I didn't think it was an issue because I've seen raised scales (not pineconing) on my fish before and it was a temperature related thing. Today I noticed a bulge that developed in less than 2 days over that same area and looks red underneath. His behaviour is somewhat normal - except he seems to be swimming a little tail up- thought he was being floaty and fed greenbeans ... Now I think it's related to this bump he has... I felt the bump and it felt soft, mushy even compared to the rest of his body... I'll be setting up a QT tank with 1% salt to put him in tomorrow (my spare filter broke and am out of air pumps...) after a trip to petsmart. Should I get anything else for him? What should I do? Thanks! Here are some pics:
  20. No idea what started it, everything seemed fine - well last food I gave them was some hikari pellet food that had been opened for at least 8 mths now... Don't know if thay would get them that sick and after only one feeding... I also thought of the bn plecos attacking for food as the tail looks split- but they're usually scared of the big goldies and very docile. I've really no concrete idea as what caused this As for treatment I'll see if I can try and salt dip at least Ponyo my lionhead tomorrow. Do you know if acriflavine is available at the big petstores? I'll try calling my LFS and see if they stock any... How should I try to get it - powdered or liquid? Thanks again Alex you're a life saver...

Yesterday I added salt .2% so far and have been adding melafix for 3-4 days now. * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? Fin rot, specially on one of my lionheads who has the worst case, but all fish are showing some signs or beginning of it (except for the bn plecos who seem fine). * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? They're all their normal food hogging selves... Hi everyone! Long time no post... Seems lately I've been coming back with problems . Well this is what's happening with the gang right now, las week we went away for a 3 day weekend getaway and when we came back finrot had taken over my goldies... They act fine but their fins look torn at the ends and one of my lioneads tail is half gone! So I obviously flipped, tested the water and the parameters where fine - I decided to do 2 huge 80% wc to make sure there was nothing in the water harming them and started doing daily 75-100% wc. It just kept getting worse so 3-4 days ago I added melafix and see no progress, yesterday I started the tank on salt and they're currently at .2% salt with the melafix and it seems to have stabilized a bit, but the lionhead still looks bad. Not sure if to dip him and keep the whole tank at .3% and melafix for a week or two... What should I do? As usual I always appreciate your help. Here are some pics
  22. I'm thinking whatever it is they came with two watterlettuces my hubby put in the tank as suprise at the same time as the pompom oranda because he said she had none when he picked her up and in a few of hours of being with the planta and my other fish developed the white spots on her wen and tail. I removed and threw away the plants (the goldies had eaten most of them anyways) 2 days ago when Goldy got reinfected...
  23. Maybe I should add that the day after starting salt 0.1% they all had some of these spots... I added salt every 12hours and they went away - that's why I didn't it bring it up before... But after a day of being at 0.3% salt they appeared again- only on Goldy this time... It's just weird
  24. He's free of all of the little dots, they seem to have fallen off! They're all on prazipro, they're due for w/c tomorrow... Should I follow with one day without prazi and then double dose? Thanks!
