  1. I have a 75 gallon with stand and lighting in the Chico, CA area for sale. On Craigslist I have it listed for $200 but I would sell to a Kokos member for $180. You would need to pick it up. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I think my pictures are too big off my phone to upload. I'll try and do it from my computer later. My two new ranchu in QT are healing up nicely. They had ulcers on their backs when I purchased them. The wounds were large and had fluffy white growth coming out of them. I did 1 tsp per gallon salt, with some methylene blue in the water, and I am feeding them a homemade kanaplex gel food. They look better every day and the wounds are turning into black coloring on their backs and closing up. The black will likely fade as they continue to heal. My new butterfly telescopes have been in good health, but then I accidentally almost killed them today ?. I was doing the water change and the python knocked the lid into the tank almost smashing them ☹️. They seem unharmed but I am keeping a watchful eye on them.
  3. It's been a while since I've been on the forum; I mainly lurk around now. Some updates: I have since gone from a 55 gallon, to a 75 gallon, and now I have a 125 gallon for my goldfish. I don't have any of my original crew now This last month Red died shortly after her 5th birthday with me; she had a tumor that developed over the last two years, but it never seemed to bother her and she still was her spunky, active, and hungry self. Then when I came home from an errand and went to feed the fish I noticed she was bleeding profusely from the tumor! I quickly mover her to a quarantine tank and then did a 100% WC on my main tank. She died within a day. I am sad to lose her, but I do have many new goldfish friends since I was last on Kokos. I got a few new additions this week that are doing their time in quarantine now. If I can be good and keep you guys updated I will. I am still going to college while working as a dog/cat groomer. Fish keeping is my downtown hobby that I love and I am going to try and be more active here again, kokos always puts a smile on my face; plus hardly anyone gets my addiction to goldfish
  4. Thanks, I did pick up some Metroplex from amazon and Kens had a food with it in it so I got some of that as well. I bought 2 new ranchu recently that are in QT for ulcers (present at time of purchase), I bought some of kens other medicated feed to help them recover.
  5. I think kens was out of stock but I'll check amazon Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. I like to have meds on hand, and I can't seem to source this anymore? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. How old are the fish? If they are young sometimes their eyes grow at uneven rates and have a chance of evening out a bit
  9. I have used it in my tanks, makes the water really clear and adds some good minerals. This is what I use: http://www.amazon.com/Microbe-Lift-Calicium-Montmorillonite-MLKKB4/dp/B000TZ1R7Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407097010&sr=8-1&keywords=koi+clay
  10. Hi there, I'm glad your fish is dong so much better I also wanted to say that I am glad you did not jump into treatment for costia. Many people see something that looks similar and jump to treatmenWt, that oftentimes compromises the fishes health more than the actual illness, so good job! and I was one of the two people who had the sick fish. We both got fish that were imported from China and we never really figured out what the illness actually was. Half my black ranchu made it, my friend lost all of hers. I'm glad to hear your cutie is improving.
  11. I can't see the post numbers on my phone? Who won?
  12. Only reason I'm thinking of moving them is because the one with tail problems isn't getting better and everyone else in that tank is fine so I would like to move him to the QT instead. These babies would go in a different tank than the one I am having the tail issue in. IDK just trying to think of what the best action is.
  13. Alright they were in the tank at 90 for more than 10 days and I have reduced it slowly back to room temperature. They have been in prazi and are looking good! Since its been more than 2 weeks of nothing would it be ok to move them in with my other fish? I would be monitoring the tank they go in very close of course. I will also continue prazi in the next tank, all my tanks are having rounds done.
  14. Sorry for your loss Before you get another pet goldfish, if you want another one, I would recomend getting the API drop test kit for the freshwater master kit . Checking water quality and maintaining good levels is the easiest way to keep a fish healthy and prevent disease in the first place. It is very important to know the exact #'s when taking care of our fish. It is possible that changes occurred in your tap water and you wouldn't know without a test kit. These changes can stress your fish and if the levels are not being monitored there is no way to know that there is an issue until the fish is showing signs of distress. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/320965256947?lpid=82
  15. Thank you for your detailed description of what is happening with your fish. I hope it has a speedy recovery! Could you please fill out this form? It is an easier format for our mods to read when they are dealing with multiple D & D cases. Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level(Tank) * Nitrite Level(Tank) * Nitrate level(Tank) * Ammonia Level(Tap) * Nitrite Level(Tap) * Nitrate level(Tap) * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? * Water temperature? * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? * How often do you change the water and how much? * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? * How many fish in the tank and their size? * What kind of water additives or conditioners? * What do you feed your fish and how often? * Any new fish added to the tank? * Any medications added to the tank? * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.?
  16. A solid color would be best to start with if you don't want to cull for color like some breeders do. It also gives you time to focus and learn about the body requirements and let you train your eye to it vs, being tempted to keep fish not up to standard just because of pretty or unique coloring, which is fun! But its not great if your doing a breeding program and have limited space. I also want to add that you may want to get more fish experience and reading materials before you take on this project. I have learned SOOOOOO much just over the last 2 years. I don't know your fish keeping experience, but I can say that for myself over the time I have been a member here on kokos I have really learned a lot. I felt like an expert by the time I had 500 posts and now looking back I was a novice still LOL I probably will look back again someday and think wow I knew nothing at 2000 posts Just know it is an expensive learning experience but if you love it, it is rewarding and fun. Making a profit is something the experienced get to do; I'm not even there yet. Stock up on meds, tanks/stock tubs, air pumps, various foods, jugs of prime, tons of prazi, and you will most of all need some extra time and money to dedicate to the hobby.
  17. Just wanted to add that the females can release eggs on their own without a boy "helping" If she is tired certainly give her a break.
  18. I did the 30 min methylene blue dip, no problems with that, he did it like a pro. Now I have kana in the water. The tail doesn't have stringy white stuff anymore which I assume is a good thing. He is still acting normal and no other issues than the tail.
  19. The first few days they will eat the egg shells from which they hatched. It has a high amount of calcium and helps their shells harden up Once the egg shells are mostly gone I give mine blanched spinach. You could do SG, mine eat it but are not nearly as interested in it as they are with spinach.
