  1. I do WHAT! lol. Oops, I see how that could be confusing. Hmmm maybe I'll adjust the spelling.

  3. Lol you rickrolled your fish with the duckweed. I love the tank decor and your fishies!

  5. Alex, if I have time, I'm sooo going to make a video of the tank with the theme music of jaws to it. Unless someone beats me to it.
  6. Do your fish get pushy when you feed them? I feed mine 3x per day and Koko will put her head under Lucy's butt and sort of push her. Until Lucy does a Michael Jordan fake, rushes and nabs a tasty morsel . Do your fish do this?
  7. Do you use the brackets, hang from ceiling, or just rest it against your lid with or w/o the brackets?
  8. I am interested in growing plants. So I'm interested in what kinds of lighting arrangements members of Koko's have set up with any pro's and con's about them.
  9. Lol Edie's expression in pic 1 and unamed guy's pic 1 are identical. Lmao "Let....me....go....I....didn't sign up for this!!!"
  10. Omg how did you petrify those goldfish!?! I'm of course teasing. I admire your creativity. Good job!
  11. So I got this light from Petco today and I like the light output. However, I'm not so sure I'm happy with the way the light fixture itself sits. It appears that it was designed to mount on the aquarium without a lid or to hang from the ceiling (I live in an apartment so that probably isn't going to happen). I don't want my fish to jump out, so right now it's connected to the mounting brackets but the brackets are sitting on the lid, if that makes sense. Are all fluorescents this way? I spent $120 bucks on it and if I can get better online than I will do it and take this back. Any suggestions? Oh and Lucy's "orange" is actually still mostly red. My previous lighting just sucked.
  12. Yay new shiny. Really tho this time - I got a light the (zoomed aquasun t6 HO 30 from Petco). Not sure if I like it so I'm curious as to what lights you folks have that you bought online. Interestingly enough, Lucy's orange is really read depending on the light. Cool beans. I'll open up a new thread about the light...
  13. Thanks everyone! Sharkbait, I'm sorry to hear about your dad I haven't had any problems with the dragon yet. Although, I learned something. If you burry it too deep in sand, he will drool sand out his mouth. It's kinda cool. lol. As far as sharpness goes, I haven't seen anything unusual. Actually I worry a bit about the lava rocks holding the plants down as far as sharpness. But so far, so good
  14. Tank Shot. Anubias left, wisteria right. Fake plant attached to suction cup at the top for a baffle. Koko. (I had been searching for a name for her for a long time and I decided on koko because without this site and you guys, she might not be here. Thank you. Oh and see!? Her eyes are all better!!) Lucy Together And a before pic, 8 months ago. Thanks for your time!
  15. I think I see a microbiology experiment in my future....
  16. omg. that coconut song is playing - my gf is watching practical magic. lol. Okay, so side note. The tank is still under construction. We need more Seaview so the background black sticks properly to the aquarium, and I need to get a better light. I wasn't clear before, the light fixture is broke, so I need to take back the bulbs. Does anyone have any experience with the zoomed double light sold on the Petco Website (click the blue "t")? Or recommend a good solid light for plants etc for a deeper aquarium (mine's a 56g column) 30x18x48. Soon as I clean the glass, I'll post pics. haha
  17. Went to go get some Prime from Petsmart and of course when you're there you have to come home with new stuff - especially if you're feeling depressed (my kind of chocolate. lol). So we got the prime and flourish from Petsmart and got some fluorescent bulb that I later found out is broke, got a baffle for the filter (thanks Koko) and then we went to Petco for plants. We ended up getting another piece of black lava rock and some wisteria. Pics to come... Oh, and everyone is fine. Thanks to everyone who helped, you know who you are
  18. At this point I would add salt to the tune of 1 tsp/gallon (one of the mods might ask to add more in 12 hours). Also please get the prime. The prime will detox the ammonia so it's not harmful to your fish but the beneficial bacteria-trying to start in your filter-can still use it. If you have a heater, you will want to turn it up to about 80 degrees F. I would type more hon, but I'm running late. One of the mods will be here soon and will help you more thoroughly. So, ya get prime add salt to 1 tsp/gallon do greater than 50% water changes at this point. And a heater will be helpful if you have it. Good luck.
  19. Good morning and ! I have to be out the door soon to head to class, but I wanted to give you some information. First, don't feel bad. Many of us have been in your shoes at one point or another. I think your fish are suffering primarily from new tank syndrome and we will probably ask you to treat for flukes as well (gill parasites that are common to goldfish). Daily water changes of about >50% is a great idea at this point. There are a couple of things I think you should get today if you can. The first is a water conditioner called Prime, petsmart carries it. The reason we like Prime is because it can detoxify ammonia in a pinch where your current water conditioner cannot. The second get some morton's canning salt from your grocery store (cheaper than aquarium salt) because additive free salt is a good thing to have around for sickness and we will more than likely be using it. The other thing you'll want to get is Prazi Pro, you can find it on Amazon or a locally owned petstore specializing in fish might carry it. Prazi is what we will use to treat flukes. Beyond that, we will wait for the video and the pics. We will help you through this.
  20. Yes please, if you can fill out the form and post a video or pictures that will be most helpful.
  21. Does this happen throughout the day or more so after feeding?
