  1. the thing is that black streaks on their fins is almost always from ammonia burn.... i don't know what else to tell you... unless the black has ALWAYS been there... then it is just part of there colour.. but it sure looks like ammo burn to me... i hope one of the experts reply to your topic b/c it would sure help. when was last water change done?
  2. hmmm.... that would be cool... but i doubt it...
  3. hey man i can't see too closely but is there something wrong with there fins?? fraying or dark spots or streaks? .. are you sure your ammo readings are 0?? and other params too??
  4. make sure if u get a pleco it is the SMALL species because i know some species can easily outgrow your tank and be a foot long!!!
  5. hey guys... i hope you aren't tired of me yet!!! LOL but i was wondering about my nerite snails and their eggs! now i know that nerite snails will lay eggs regardless of it is a freshwater tank or not! but they need to be in brackish water for the eggs to hatch!! right? right!! but i was wondering... is it bad to just leave the eggs on the driftwood n rocks?? can they become rotten? or cause a water quality problem if just left there? they don't bug me at all but if they cause a problem or will cause a problem in the future i will remove them at once! thanks a lot guys!! let me know...
  6. I've got nerites as well... but recommend getting a lot more then one or 2.... i have 7 in my goldie tank (46 gallon) n definitely need more when all is said and done i will probably have around 14 snails! and no need to worry about breeding b/c as someone said they need brackish water for eggs to hatch
  7. thanks for the comments guys!!!! spock really feels the love.. but so do all of them! i can't wait to finish my trop.tank. and add a few more nerites to my goldie tank! suggestions? and how come mr.grey has such a small wen? just genes?

  11. i think your tank is not even cycled yet...and your fish look stressed out...gonna wait for the experts to weigh in on this though.. do you have any other fish in there with them??between 0:05 and 0:10... it looks like something small is swimming around them..??!
  12. do you mind me asking how many fish you have in there?
  13. cool! thank u.!! is it better for growing goldfish to get fed more "frequently" or is that just a myth... will it actually help them get bigger faster?
  14. contrary to what above have said.... i myself had one EXTREMELY aggressive "mean" ryukin who pretty much killed two other ryukins... they were a bit smaller and he chewed off their tails... chased them around the tank and just bullied them.. they both eventually stressed out and died from stress related diseases. i ended up putting him in another tank with bigger fish.. and at first he still bullied them and not one fish ever wanted to be around him.. but things eventually cooled down and my calico oranda put him in his place and started chasing him LOL! everything is fine now but i do believe that ryukins use to speed and size to there advantage..
  15. hey guys i was wondering what is meant by "frequent small feedings" what exactly is frequent? like every 2 hours? just a question! THANKS!
  16. lol!! yeah minimum 10hrs of light give him some extra $$$ and he'll be fine! tell him you are trying to be a "responsible" aquarium owner and hes not letting you.. LMAO!! see if he doesnt change his mind! LOL.. anyways good luck!
  17. everything is looking good so i have nothing to add EXCEPT......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... STAKOS IS THE BEST!! WE THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. yeah i think i might just leave it... too much work.. and i have lots of plants too... im just gonna stick it out with the ugly pink ,yellow and blue gravel.. LOL!!
  19. give your parents some extra $$ and they will leave you alone!
  20. u are lacking light.... im almost 100%...this is a light loving plant! even temperature should be in the ideal zone.. reads my before post... u need also about 2w per gallon of light... n probably nutrients..
  21. The banana-shaped roots of this plant should be planted no more than 1/4 of their length. Plant them by gently pressing them into the substrate. The Banana Plant should be provided with a minimum of 2 watts per gallon of light within the spectrum of 5000 to 7000K. The ideal water conditions for best results are a temperature of 68°-82°F, an alkalinity of 3 - 6 dKH and a pH of 6.0-7.2..........
  22. well this is the thing... i dont mind having like 50% of the old stuff underneath the new stuff.... that way it will mostly be covered by the new stuff.. and also not completely remove all the good stuff in the gravel... make sense? and the old stuff will be underneath anyways.. so i dont mind having it a LITTLE visible.. can i just remove 50% of the gravel one day.. then wait a couple of weeks.. and then add the new stuff over top??
  23. Hey guys i was wondering about changing my gravel!!!... i was wondering if there was a "safe" way of doing it... what if i dont COMPLETELY change all of my gravel but say, take half out and replace with new gravel... leaving approx 50% new and 50% old gravel... reason for changing, is i would like a not so bright gravel color and moving to a soft neutral color or black! THANKSM FOR THE INPUT!
