  1. The medicine has at long last arrived!!! Express shipping was SO not express! We now have the Kanaplex and MetroPlex and even found some Epsom salt. What should we do first? Should we dose them together? I am beginning to also suspect that food may be part of the problem as well. She is still eating and pooing just fine but on the days when we fast her she seems to be more active and less "floaty". Not sure what other food we could get for her though. This one has worked the best by far until now. Any suggestions would be awesome! Thanks.
  2. Will do. She is definitely not better...just hamming it up for the camera. Or excited that both her people were hanging out with her. We have been working WAY too much! Lol. She also knew food would happen eventually.
  3. A new development.. video attached. on body near tail on right side, she seems to have a white fuzz or something..
  4. Ok. We will wait on the other and try to find some Epsom salt tomorrow after work. The other has been ordered and should be here by January 3rd (I'm hoping sooner!)...couldn't afford to expedite the shipping any more than we did.
  5. I was able to find API General Cure at my local pet store. It has 250mg Metrodidazol and 75mg Praziquantel per packet. While we are waiting on the other, should we try this?
  6. Ok. I will see what I can get ordered as soon as I get some more money coming in...silly Christmas! I'll order 2 of each as soon as I can. Is there anything we can do in the meantime to help? Should we feed her less/differently? Add Epsom salt? ... Also any idea where we can get ammonia? Sorry for all the questions!
  7. Yes. She is acting like she wants to bottom sit (actually fairly normal behavior for her unfortunately) but can't because she floats up when she tries. I'll try to get another video up tonight if I can so you can see it. What kind of antibiotic would I need? Don't think I have much on hand and usually have to order it due to the pet stores not carrying much where I live. Let me know and I'll see if I can find some and get it ordered/buy it asap. Just want her to be ok again! I would get Seachem Metronidazole and Kanaplex: http://www.petmountain.com/product/multi-purpose-aquarium-medications/11442-503346/seachem-seachem-metronidazole-marine-freshwater-medication.html http://www.petmountain.com/searchx/0/0/1/1/?s=kanaplex&g=SEARCH I'll try to order these asap. How much of each do I need? Just one of each? Are they similar to MetroMeds? I've been meaning to get those on hand for some time but am not sure where to order them either.

  9. Oh and we are going out for groceries. Should I try to find some Epsom salt? Certain brand I need to look for?
  10. Tank is filled to within about 2 inches from the top. I'll work on getting a photo up! Poop is looking pretty normal. Tried a couple tiny pieces of edamame the other night and found green poop about a day later--maybe going through her a bit slower than normal I guess. Haven't changed much in the diet. Usually just do the hikari sinking pellets, fast her on average once a week, and add in peas when we make them as a treat. Just feed her once a day and not very much (pinch of the hikari, 2-3 shelled smooshed peas).
  11. Hey. I'm posting tank and tap parameters below. Sorry it took me so long to get to this! Its a crazy busy time of year and I work retail so its been a bit insane. I am not totally certain what we were treating her for with the Maracyn (believe it was maybe a cloudy eye or bottom sitting issues) (may have also been treating the other fish (now deceased) that was in a hospital tank with that.). It is not in the tank now at all. I'll see if Josh remembers when we did that and which fish it was for. I believe Josh did a water change the day before yesterday so salt shouldn't be in there now (or if it is just a little). I think her buoyancy is having issues but not sure if we can do much to help. Please let me know what to do next. Tank Test Results: (Using API Drop Test Kit) Temp: 74.7 F pH: 7.4 (maybe as high a 7.6 (color is hard to read) Ammonia: 0 ppm Nitrites: 0 ppm Nitrates: 10 ppm Tap Water Test Results: pH: 7.6 Ammonia: 1.0 ppm Nitrites: 0 ppm NItrates: 5 ppm Thanks so much for helping!
  12. Oops! Not sure how that happened! Should be visible now I think. I'll get to the tap levels as soon as I can. I have to work tonight though so it might be later before I can get to it. Last time I checked them they were pretty closely matched if that helps.
  13. Hi everyone. My black moor, P-body is acting strange. Not sure if its swim bladder or something else. We have done a water change recently. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give! Let me know what other info you need! Wanted to get a video posted as soon as I had a chance. Floatiness seems to be getting worse... Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level(Tank) 0-0.1 ppm * Nitrite Level(Tank) 0 ppm * Nitrate level(Tank) 30 ppm * Ammonia Level(Tap) haven't tested tap in a while but can if necessary * Nitrite Level(Tap) * Nitrate level(Tap) * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 7.6 * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? API Drop Kit * Water temperature? 77.5 F * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 27 gallons (April 2013) * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Aquaclear 50 and Aquaclear 70 * How often do you change the water and how much? 60-70% about every 4-5 days. * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? 3 days ago * How many fish in the tank and their size? 1 black moor (P-body) * What kind of water additives or conditioners? Prime * What do you feed your fish and how often? Hikari Fancy Goldfish Sinking pellets (1 pinch-soaked before put into the tank) Nightly, Peas Occasionally, Repashy Occasionally * Any new fish added to the tank? No * Any medications added to the tank? A little bit of salt a couple days ago (15 tsp)--thought it might help. * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. 2 rounds Prazi in a couple years. Salt and Maracyn have been used for various issues including bottom sitting episodes, has been many months since the last of these treatments. * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? None * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? Going vertical often and floating in a strange way, frequent runs to top to gulp air and release bubbles...floating behavior is the worst, was bottom sitting prior to floating funny but this seems to have replaced that. She is eating fine.
  14. Awesome! Should we do just one dose or follow the whole dosing schedule? There is salt in the tank already. That is ok to leave in correct?
  15. We do have a couple bubblers so you may have been seeing where they hit the surface. She likes to swim through the bubbles.
  16. Should I go ahead and do a WC (~90%?) again today or wait til the normal scheduled one (about 3 days)? Prazi will not mess with the cycle correct? Do not have to do in separate tank?
  17. The last time we did Prazi was 4~5 months ago. He eats fine, goes after food right away. Poo looks normal. Was bottom sitting when I woke up but is currently making frequent laps to the top to gulp air again with short bottom sitting episodes in between.
  18. Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level(Tank) .1 ppm * Nitrite Level(Tank) 0 ppm * Nitrate level(Tank) 30 ppm * Ammonia Level(Tap) will follow up with tap params tomorrow * Nitrite Level(Tap) * Nitrate level(Tap) * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) 7.6 * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? API Drop Kit * Water temperature? 77.5 F * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 27 gallons (April 2013) * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Aquaclear 50 and Aquaclear 70 * How often do you change the water and how much? 90% about every 6 days. * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? 2 days ago 90% (6/23/14) * How many fish in the tank and their size? 1 black moor Pbody * What kind of water additives or conditioners? Prime & Salt(10tsp) * What do you feed your fish and how often? Hikari Fancy Goldfish Sinking pellets (1 pinch-soaked before put into the tank) Nightly, Peas Occasionally, Repashy Occasionally * Any new fish added to the tank? No * Any medications added to the tank? No * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. 2 rounds Prazi in a couple years. Salt and Maracyn have been used for various issues including bottom sitting episodes, has been several months since the last of these treatments. * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? Cloudy left eye off and on * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? Bottom sitting, frequent runs to top to gulp air and release bubbles on the way back to bottom sitting. Our black moor, P-Body, seems to have had eye issues off and on since the passing of our fancy-tail, Atlas. P-Body has been primarily bottom sitting for the past 2.5 days. When I noticed her beginning this behavior again I did a 90% WC and resalted with 9 tsp. The previous water change 5 days prior was the first recent addition of 10 tsp salt, which was added due to some bottom sitting as well. The last water change/salting seemed to perk up P-Body for about 4 days and then she started sitting again. This WC and resalting has not had the same effect. From the cloudy eye episodes it seems like her skin has started growing over the area that was previously cloudy and her eye never seems to stay clear for long. Her tank is sparsely decorated, only a few plastic plants with solid bases, no hollow ornaments. Jokingly I said her bottom sitting episodes were her time of the month for a while, as that seemed to be about what the frequency was, but they are definitely more frequent now and we now think she might actually be a he. I have looked for maracyn in our local stores but they seems to have stopped carrying it, so would have to order online if that is a recommended treatment. One of our local shops suggested Melafix as a natural solution and replacement for maracyn but I have read mixed reviews on its effectiveness. This is a video of her surface runs for gulps of air: she of course would not sit still during my attempt to video.. but the larger percent of her time is spent sitting on the bottom rather than doing these runs at the moment. you may be able to notice her eye somewhat in this video.. it's hard to get a picture or video of it cause she seems to orient her right eye towards me most of the time (perhaps it's easier to see with). Also, she is eating fine.. will stay active long enough to get the food and then goes back to bottom sitting.
  19. We are getting ready to leave on a trip. I'm going back out west to work a job for a while. Josh will be home with P-body though so he may post more soon to see if he can help her feel better. We will be here tonight though still, so any last minute suggestions/idea would be great. Just wanted to let you know if we didn't answer for a couple days that is why. She is eating fine. She bottom sat a little more than usual today but I think part of that is no other fish in the tank to make her move around. Just re-tested the tank water: pH: 7.3, Ammonia: 0ppm, Nitites: 0 ppm, Nitrates: 30-40ppm Going to do a water change and clean all the ornaments and take some of the marbles out of the bottom to be cleaned later--they are building up some algae.
  20. It is black on the top of the eye but kind of a more milky white color on the rounded part of her eyeball. The tap pH, ammonia, and nitrites are all normal (pH is around 7.3 like the tank water, no ammonia, no nitrites). The nitrate test showed 5.0ppm (at the most 10ppm but the color was much closer to the 5.0ppm). Is that high enough that water changes would be causing trouble?
  21. I have heard its common for black moore's to have eye issues. Just don't know what a cloudy eye means. Is she going blind in that eye? She seems to have some vision left in it at the moment.
  22. Any idea what causes that? Stress maybe? Bad water? I tested the water tonight and the nitrates do seem high after two large water changes the other night. (ph: 7.3, Ammonia: 0 ppm, Nitrites: 0 ppm, Nitrates: 40 ppm--maybe a bit less) Not sure why they are so high. Took anything that could even "think" about being sharp out of the tank in case her eye was an injury. I don't have any MMs. Could maybe order some soon if you think it would help if you tell me where I can order them. Doing a 50% water change tonight too to try to get the nitrate levels down. Will test tap levels tomorrow. Should we add a bit of salt in case it is an injury? Thanks for helping. I can't imagine losing her too!
  23. Thanks. P-body is doing ok...swimming around, eating and pooping like normal but her eye seems to be looking worse. It is hard to get a good look at it (I think she can't see out of it so she doesn't like to swim on that side when I'm near the tank). It just looks like a cloudy film over her eye. I don't know if you can see it in the video or not. Should I be worried about it? I will test the water and maybe do another small WC tonight depending on the test results. I figure having good clean water is always the first step. Really hoping that whatever got Atlas won't get her too. She seems a bit less active than usual but it may be because there is no other fish in the tank now. Would salt help?
  24. I will try to test the water today as soon as I can from the tap and tank. The substrate of the tank is glass marbles spread out--no gravel or anything else, but we vaccuum and move the marbles around during every water change (1-2 times a week) and they move them around all the time as well looking for food.
