  2. I slowly acclimated him before I let him out of the bag .
  3. He seems to be a little better now. I just fed him a little bit of gel food. The filter seems to bother him so I'm wondering if I should turn it off at night?
  4. The PH is the same as at the store and I have not offered it any food yet.

  6. Thanks everyone, I'll see about setting up a sponge filter.
  7. I found a super cute little fish at Petsmart that I am going to buy if they still have it next time I am there but the only filter I have for my quarantine tank is only 53 gph. Will this be ok for a few weeks when the fish is in quarantine? It is only about 1" including the tail and the tank is a 10 gallon.
  8. Shipping is $15.45 to ship all of them. I can ship less for $11.35
  9. I am really sorry, I forgot I posted this. I will check on the cost of shipping today.
  10. Thanks @ thatrandoguy - I acuity named them after characters from Robert Ludlum's The Bancroft Strategy. I tend to name animals after book characters for some reason. @ ashlee - They spend most of their time in the cinder blocks.
  11. Here are some pictures of Castor(shubunkin) and Pollux(comet) and the snail. Castor is 3" and Pollux is 2.5" This is how their tank looks as of yesterday
  12. I have kept ghost shrimp with Bettas. Some Bettas will kill the and others won't.
  13. I need to get rid of around 70 Ramshorn snails. You would need to cover the shipping cost though.
  14. I can't find my camera so can't get pictures now. I noticed that when he is resting the snails start muching on his fins . I'm going to remove the snails today.
  15. I am getting some of the Self Cloning Marbled Crayfish next week and need to be refreshed on their care. I researched them a few years ago because I needed them for a biology lab but I talked to my ES and was able to skip that one so I forgot most of what I learned.
  16. I have some pictures of it that I will upload tonight.
  17. Good for you for getting them. I'v seen two bettas in he same cup at walmart before. I told an employee and he fixed it though.
  18. *size: 20 gallon long *ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, ph readings--your local fish store usually will test for you for free you do not have testing kits: My kit went bad and I have not replaced it yet so I'll have to have it checked at petsmart. *frequency of water changes: 50% twice a week or 75% once a week *temperature: 82f *what do you feed him and how much: NLS 3-4 1mm pellets or 6-8 0.5mm pellets twice a day. Two meals a week are replaced with frozen bloodorms. One day he does not get fed and the next he gets a chopped boiled pea. He will eat some of the veggie rounds that I give the CAE and snails *any tankmates? Another Betta temporarily in a breeder net and one remaining Black Neon Tetra. Also some Ramshorn snails. I had a 2" CAE but I moved it to my Fathead Minnow tank when it started wanting to kill the other fish. *any hollow ornaments? No The tumor is bright blue and near his tail. He is a orange fish with a few black spots. His scales are normal but the tumor is about half the size of a pea.
  19. My 2 year old Betta Peach developed a tumor a 3-4 weeks ago It over doubles it's size every week and has caused him to become very skinny. I think it was caused by the Omega One Veggie Rounds I was giving my CAE. I knew that ethoxyquin could cause cancer so I avoided it in pet foods before but so many people recommended this brand so I decided to give it a try and two weeks later my fish started to get a tumor. I feel so bad because I know that it's my fault and he is my favorite fish. I hate the thought of putting him to sleep but I don't want him to be in pain. I am going to pick up some clove oil next week so that I'll have it on hand for when I need to kill him. How do I know when to kill him? He still acts normal and eats fine but he does tend to rest a lot more.
  20. I hope it is ok to post this link. This is a post from Ultimate Bettas on keeping female Bettas together. http://www.ultimatebettas.com/index.php?showtopic=12193 I also wanted to let you know that Hikari Betta food is low quality. I suggest NLS foods. I have had good luck with keeping Black Neon Tetras with Bettas.
