  1. people do have good expericences with goldies and cories but... I used to have a cory with my baby fantail goldfish (there were 1-2 inches) one of the fantail nipped all of the cories fins off. he had no dorsal or pectoral fins. thats my bad expierence with goldies and cories even though the fish were babies they still nipped the cory i think whether or not goldfish harrass other fish is their personality my other goldfish never touched the cory only the one did pearlscales are more mellow fish but i dunno.... im still agaisnt cories and goldies together
  2. today Bonnie the dwarf gourami died. Chalupa isn't doing good he is laying at the bottom of the tank not really moving
  3. i keep platys with my male betta the betta leaves them alone and i have never seen him flare at them the only problem with the platy and betta is the platy might get lonely with only one platy in a tank platys like the company of other platys and a loney fish can get stressed and lead to disease but if you think that the harrasing of the platy is getting so bad that he'd be better off by himself then i think the betta and platy should be ok. also i think you could add 3 more female platys to your tank without overstocking adding more girls might balance things out so they might leave the one alone

    Live Food?

Goldfish loveee brine shrimp the only danger would be that the brine shrimp could have parasites i don't really know of anyways to prevent parasites but some people breed their won brine shrimp so they know what they are feeding is parasite free you can just set up container with water in it and buy the "sea-monkey" eggs next thing you know you'll have tons of live parasite free fish food
  5. Hi there i recently set up my a 26 gallon tank that i had for tropical fish i did the fishless cycle and once everything had cycled i added 2 dwarf gouramis 1 betta 6 platys the dwarf gouramis and the betta are doing great i got one platy from a lfs and 5 others from pet supplies plus the ones from pet supplies plus were a little ratty looking, two fish had some tears in their fins the day i got the platys one of the platys was dead the one that died was the biggest and seemed pretty healthy i just took that one as a freak thing a few days later another platy, Perdita, was dead this one didn't seem to be doing as well in the days before death she had a clamped dorsal fin alot and seemed to just kinda be off on her own alot and didn't play around with the other guys. her fins were also ratty looking but she came like that the next day sunny, and gordita were dead sunny was the one from the lfs he seemed to be doing great he was one of the most active ones Gordita did have clamped fins but otherwise seemed fine 1 of my remaing platys, Chalupa, doesn't seem to be doing good Chalupa has clamped fins and has two irresdiesnt white spots one spot also goes on two his dorsal fin it doesn't look like fungus because the patches are flat fins fins also are frayed but when i got him it was like that the other platy Clemintine seems to be fine doesn't anyone know what is killing my platys? ammonia and nitrite are both fine I really need help before the last two bite the dust
  6. I feed all of my fish once a day and they do fine feeding once a day isn't going to starve your fish as long as your smaller fish are getting food too and the big ones aren't hogging it all then once a day is fine very long trailing poo can also be a sign of constipation constipation can lead to some swim bladder problems you might want to feed you fish come cooked peas once a week just pop some peas in the microwave for 10 seconds squeeze them out of the shells and feed your fish the inside one pea per fish (half a pea for littlest guys) goldfish loveee peas too
  7. hello there! haven't posted on here in a very long time I have one fish in my pond, Una and i dont know what to call her. she was born and raised in the pond from an oranda x fantail crossing at first glance she looks like a comet/common http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b130/Emi...current=una.jpg the top of her tail has a little piece of tail sticking out it kinda looks like she was supposed to be a twin tail but it didn't form right you can just see the other piece of tail here http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b130/Emi...urrent=una3.jpg here is the backend of una's tail you can kinda see how the other side isn't complete http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b130/Emi...urrent=una2.jpg here is una turning you can really see the other piece here http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b130/Emi...urrent=una1.jpg i have recently discovered fry in the pond and i have noticed one has the same exact tail as una you can just make out the tiny sliver of extra tail.
