  1. no - only one redcap oranda in the tank yeah - he's always been missing that scale on the right side.
  2. Ok, I tried to get some back to front views.
  3. The eye on the left (his right) in the top picture? Drip mark on the glass.
  4. Already got started on metro meds. In a qt tank w/ pp and .1% salt
  5. Thanks for the reply - yes he does live with the pearlscale - I will be keeping a sharp eye out on all the tankmates for signs of disease.
  6. The other fish look good, no signs of streaking. I think it would be tough to grab him in a colander every time I feed them. Might be traumatic for him too. I do have metro-meds. I will start cycling the qt tank (I'll add water and a filter from another tank) and put him in there. BTW, this is not the new fish. This fish has been in the tank for about 6 months.

My Oranda Steve got a couple of white pimples on his wen. They seem to be a bit smaller today. Please have a look at the pics below. Thanks. The white patch behind the eye looks a little strange - anything to worry about? Thanks!
  8. New fish was added about 3-4 weeks ago. Was in salt and prazi for 2 weeks prior in qt.
  9. Yes, I started another thread http://www.kokosgoldfish.invisionzone.com/forum/index.php?/topic/99896-bloody-fins-on-pearlscale/ That is why I was taking the pictures. Please take a look, thanks.

Bloody streaks on fins and body of the pearlscale PomPom - noticed 2 days ago. * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? I recently noticed bloody streaks on one pecotral fin and 2 caudal fins of my pearlscale PomPom. Noticed from pics that some red on body too. Any ideas? videos and pics here https://picasaweb.google.com/113191344967970993106/Pearlscale?authuser=0&feat=directlink This image shows the red streaks on the the body to, and at the base of the right pectoral fin. Thanks for your help!
  11. Here are some updated pics - he was completely healed after about 2 weeks, and then the fin started growing back. Took these today.
  12. pics from today, sorry about the quality - didn't want to pose for me today- most of the time he just wants to show me the good side.
  13. Happy to report that wound is healing very nicely, never added the maracyn or used medicated foods. Tank is at .3 % salt and dosing daily with melafix. I hope that in 1 more week we will be ready to move back to the main tank. Photos coming soon.
  14. OK, I will monitor the situation and maybe do another salt dip. Thanks.
  15. Some updated pics - more added to the album. with higher resolution and zoom. Things do seem to be improving with just the salt and melafix - the gill cover is almost healed, and no spread. The metro meds arrived today. Do you think I should start on the medicated food, or just wait and see, maybe add the maracyn(s)?
  16. On the trofodermin - colbetasol is a steroid, and while it may reduce inflammation, and be good for ulcers, I would hesitate to put it on an infected wound.
  17. Thanks for all the feedback. Right after my original post, I transferred the fish into a 10g QT. There was still some salt in the water from the QT period, but didn't remeber how much. Did a 50% change with .3% salt in the new water, and half dose melafix. So there is somewhere between .15% and .3% salt in the tank. (next time I do a change I will do the same, bringing it closer to .3 if it isn't there) My metro meds have not arrived yet from GF connection (ordered Thursday, AM, so should have arrived saturday -no tracking number provided with google checkout). The original wound on the gill cover is almost comletely healed. The large wound behind it is certainly not any bigger, but is still ragged flesh. Some pineconing right around the wound but that is probably due to inflammation and swelling, and it doesn't seem to be progressing. The wound is not an old wound, as I mentioned, it was only a couple of days old at my first post. I will try to get some more photos posted tonight. And I will look into the trofodermin.
  18. At what frequency is it safe to repeat a salt bath? Is it a good idea to repeat it at all?
  19. Did a 2% salt bath last night, lasted about 30 seconds. Getting Melafix today, hope metromeds come soon.
  20. I wouldn't mind trying it. Do you scrub at the wound with anything or let the fish just sit?
  21. I am aware of how to salt the tank. Thanks. How do you do the salt dip?
  22. just ordered the melafix and metromeds. as soon as they arrive, I will begin treatment.
  23. no, there was no trauma during the water change. He may have gotten nipped by the oranda though. It strange that the gill cover seems to be healing, but the fin got worse ( though the base of the fin seems ok) and the area behind the gill is now affected. What food should I get, medigold or metromeds?
