  2. Thanks will have a read about these products, passed few days seen a good change on the red sore has nearly gone just a little bit of white coating left so happy he has made a recovery all i did was do what was advised kept testing water and applied wc with api stress coat which i think is excellent you can actually feel a nice coating on the fish used several others and they was no way near as good. Thanks for all your advise.
  3. Thanks very much Trinket amazing how complicated it is keeping fish you certainly know you stuff i have made so many mistakes resulting in the death of 3 fish. Do you think a 50% every other day as well as the 80% will speed the cycle or just carry on with what i am doing was worried about stressing the lads out. What food do you think i should use after the medikoi. Thanks again for your help
  4. Missed one out im feeding them, Medikoi Junior at present, with a weekly treat of daph.
  5. forgot to say each of those days a 80% water change was made, and not sure if you can see the red sore on the upper left side of the lip, i seem to have really good days where a nice film of white coating will cover the sore then that goes and can see the rednesh.

  9. Hi Trinket, Hopefuly the rest of my test kits will arrive today ordered api nitrate and ph then will complete the info. Yeah there was gravel and slate i have removed them all, when i had the test strips and bought the api test kits for ammonia and nitrite i was shocked to see the difference in the results my water quality was very poor, im just wondering if he has scratched himself whilst rooting for food and as the water quality was so poor it has got infected. I have been using api stress coat and been doing 40 to 80 water changes and he has not got any worse. Will post info and take some pics. Thanks
  10. Apologies for typos still cant type on this new phone
  11. Hello pleased to meet you all, I have recently started fish keeping or trying to. Some background I hqave a 120ltr tank with a bio filter I started with 2 goldfish and several weeks later introduced another 2 all was going ok i thought so added 1 more a week later i was using strips to test the water. About 3 weeks later one of the fish developed a white strand on its side the next day the next day this cracked open i immediately went to a few stores and asked for advise and was given primafix and melafix this seemed to work a bit then a few days later another 2 fish caught the same but in different places i know now i should have taken him out straight away but im a complete novice. I removed the 2 Healthy fish to 750ltr tank and continued treating the others the infections got bigger then turned to nasty ulcers did salt baths then permagate then went to the vets and got nt ulcer treatment and started treating them directly 2 weeks later the ulcers were dreadful so i had put them to sleep. The 2 fish in the 750 tank were doing ok until last week one had a white sore on the top of the mouth and that came away and could see a red sore this is getting worse i have transferred the other fish back to the 120 tank. The water condition is 0 ammonia 0 nitrites 7.5 ph But i have to do a water change every other day of 20 to 50 % or the ammonia and nitrite rises to 0.25 i am now using the api test kits. I have some plants not manyin the tank. I am at a lose now on how to treat he or she as all i did on the others never worked really dont want to lose this fish.
