  1. Thank you. The ranchu bear Grylls is doing ok. He's still irritated but shows no other signs other than breathing heavy. He is active, scales look ok etc... Louise had signs of dropsy before she died. It was strange because originally she looked to be in better shape than bear. But I guess that was not the case. I was about to give up on goldfish but a local friend is helping me out to keep bear alive and is restoring hope into my hobby of goldfish.
  2. Pearl scale didnt make it. Very frustrated because everything was going well for a year now
  3. Unfortunately I was wrong. It looks like the pearl scale is gettin worse. She is weak and looks to be near death. I've seen her like this before when I first got her during QT so I know she's a fighter. I had to seperate her using a tank divider
  4. These guys are still kickin. No big noticeable progress at this point
  5. I put the prazi pro in this morning. I also have something in a bottle called metro +. The bottle is the same company that makes prazi pro
  6. Both are a little more active today. The pearl is not bottom sitting she was hovering mid tank near a fake plant. The ranchu is slowly swimming around but still breathing heavily Both are a little more active today. The pearl is not bottom sitting she was hovering mid tank near a fake plant. 7. I don't remember the last time they got prazi but it was def longer than 6 months and close to a year. Metro meds are on hand also. I'm going to check on them this morning to see any progress
  8. Yes thank you. I just feel i am too spastic to touch them and it might stress them more than help. He is big enough where I can see inside his gills a little bit. He is breathing heavy... At the same time I don't really know where the spot I should be looking is. His labored breathing appears to be getting shallower. As if its getting better. He is not bottom sitting either. He is hovering lower level of the tank. The pearl scale is just bottom sitting still. Not breathing heavy. Hopefully the salt works and we can move on from this Ps. His gills look pink
  9. I didn't check water parameters again. I would assume they are the same. Nitrate levels never rise that fast in my tank but I can certainly test for the sake of making sure. I didn't feed them today but when I turned the light on for a second they acted as if I was going to feed them. There was some stirring in their behavior which is a good sign at least
  10. No changes today. The pearl is still bottom sitting and the large ranchu is still labored breathing but moving around a little. He is not bottom sitting but more of a hovering. I don't feel comfortable handling my fish so I can I Lu examine them without touching them unfortunately.
  11. Tap ph looks like 7.2-7.4 and the tank looks like 7.4-7.6 or so. It's a tiny shade darker on the API kit. As far as gills, are you talking about inside them? As if when he expands them to breathe? The look pinkish inside. The outside of them is his normal color white like his scales/skin
  12. Large air wand is in. It's about 10 inches long. Good thing I kept it
  13. At the moment I have an air wand in my tropical tank. I could grab the pump and tube and use a seperate air wand in this tank so I don't mix...
  14. Yes we have a well. I asked why that happened and I was told it had something to do with the rain and the location of the well. We also live next to an apple orchard, I hear sometimes the spray they use can effect your water. We are looking at RO system either way. I'm treating with salt. I added 53 teaspoons and I believe that is the lowest dose to start with. I think I might also have prazi on Hand if needed. I'll try and post a video but I have never done using tapatalk.
  15. I need to move fast. I might treat with salt. Things are getting worse, not better
  16. 2 water changes at 65-70 % each. I did two because that I how I realized my tap water was high nitrate. A few hours went by and the water was back to normal
  17. No veggies lately but they do nip on the live plants that I have left. However, that issue can be dealt with another time.
  18. Thanks shell. I feed the frozen food only. Either blood worms, krill, or brine shrimp. They get fed only once a day. I like blood worms the best because I seem to get more bang for the buck. The krill gets eaten within 10 seconds it seems As I am typing, my ranchu is darting around a little. Still sitting on the bottom but he swam around kind of jerky. I am guessing the nitrate lowered his immune system and now he's dealing with another issue? Been through a lot lately in my personal life don't want to lose my fish.
  19. Welcome. Check out pearl scales if you like them chubby! They are my favorite

Yesterday * How many fish in the tank and their size? 2 gold fish. A 5 Inch ranchu and a 3 inch pearl scale * What kind of water additives or conditioners? Nothing in a year * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? None * Any unusual behavior like staying at the So my tap water had high nitrate for a week or so. I took me about 6 days to realize this. It was reading 80-100 on the test kit from tap and in tank. I measured because I saw them bottom sitting before the water change. They could have been bottom sitting longer but I do not know. I was away from them for a week. I had someone feeding them but they do not know about behavior. Right now the tap water is fine and the tank is at zero nitrate. They are both bottom sitting and the large ranchu is breathing heavily. Hs gills are expanding and he is breathing rapidly. The pearl scale is just bottom sitting with no other signs. Also the ranchu looked like he had white stringy poop. They did come to the surface to eat. Should I salt the tank? I have metro meds handy along with melafix if I need to use them. Is it 55 teaspoons of salt if I add salt? Quarantine is not possible at the moment, I just had surgery on my appendix and can't really move or lift anything. If my fish do not make it I am giving up on goldfish until I get a koi pond years from now. I don't want to see them go. Thanks Daniel P.s. my fish have been great for the last year and I have added nothing to the tank. All was going well, it's just my luck lately or Cancel
  21. Thanks. I dose with seachum excel. Lately I have been doing 2 doses a week. A dose being a capful. I wish the Anubis plant would grow it looks pathetic.
