  1. Thank you for the warm welcome back. Here is the video: It is a little greenish as I used my phone flash to record the video. I hope it helps and the ranchu seems to want show it off at the end of the video haha.
  2. Hi All, It has been a while since I last post due to taking a break from this hobby. However about 6 months ago I start to get into this hobby again and bought a 40 gallon breeder tank with 1 ranchu in it. About 3 weeks ago, I added two additional goldfish in it (an Oranda and Ryukin) to give the ranchu some company but so far has been problematic. Here is the condition of the tank right now: Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level(Tank): 0 * Nitrite Level(Tank) : 0 * Nitrate level(Tank) 15 * Ammonia Level(Tap) : NA * Nitrite Level(Tap) : NA * Nitrate level(Tap) NA * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) NA * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) NA Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? API Test Kit * Water temperature? 72 * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 40 gallon - 6 months * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? Aquaclear 50 + Aquaclear 70 (Added 2 weeks ago with new goldfish) * How often do you change the water and how much? Average once a week - 80% * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? 4 days ago - 80% * How many fish in the tank and their size? Ranchu - 4.5 inch, Ryukin - 3 inch, Oranda - 3 inch * What kind of water additives or conditioners? Prime. Recently use Prazi Pro to treat new arrival of the fish including the Ranchu * What do you feed your fish and how often? Give the brand, type of food (sinking/floating pellets, gel food, steamed vegetable, etc.), and how frequently you feed each. - Azayaka - Green sinking pellets * Any new fish added to the tank? Oranda and Ryukin without quarantine. * Any medications added to the tank? PraziPro (4 days ago) * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. Prazi Pro * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? All 3 develops black dots/marks. * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? The Oranda starts to bottom sit if I am not around. All 3 eats without problem.
  3. Thank you Everyone for your kind thoughts. I appreciate it...Hopefully one day someone can learn from my experience.
  4. The seller said DOA only covered using overnight. I did ask before I decided which method to ship. However In this case, I don't think the weather contributes to the fish demise. According to fedex, the fish doesn't arrive in California until the morning it supposed to arrive at my place. I chose 2 day shipping because if ECR can ship to east coast to west using 2 day shipping, Midwest should not be a problem which proved to be wrong.
  5. Thank you very much browny and dnalex. It means a lot to me. I bought a 20 gallon as a qt tank, prazi, print a schedule and the whole nine yards.
  6. Both DOA .... A lesson learned is I think the seller is not experience with shipping fish. Both were individually packed but I think each plastic bag that they are in is small for their size.
  7. .... sigh I guess it is not meant to be.
  8. Thank you Browny and Hi DNalex! Good to see that you are still around I should know in an hour what the fish condition is... start to get antsy!
  9. Hi All, It has been a while since I last posted on this forum. We donated our gold fish when my job demanded lots of travel and now that everything starts to calm down, I thought to start having goldfish as pet again. So I ordered two Ranchus from bettaworld09 and I am a little worried. ( )They are being shipped using FedEx 2 day delivery and should arrive tomorrow before 10:30 AM. My concern right now is the weather as it is 90 degrees F today and according to forecast, tomorrow would be 97. Do you guys think if there is anything I can do when the fish arrives or follow the regular regime? Hopefully I won't have two cooked big fat Ranchus tomorrow
  10. Thank you for your response, Bodoba! Do you by any chance know if it is contagious to other fish? Before I was able to take all the bits out, I saw a good chunk of it was eaten by other fish.
  11. Sorry, I have to travel for work for a few days. Yesterday evening when I return home, I saw some other fishes have nipped on the tumor/bump and you can see bits of flesh thorn out from it . He was not moving and doing so well so late yesterday night I decided to euthanize him. Does anybody know if the tumor contagious to both human and fish? My wife is pregnant at the moment so I am kind of health conscious with this kind of stuffs.
  12. what makes you think its a tumor? has it always been there? how big is "pretty big"? I have seen on Youtube where people perform surgery on a Ranchu before and it looks identical except mine is bigger .
  13. Test Results for the Following: * Ammonia Level = 0 * Nitrite Level = 0 * Nitrate level = 25 * Ph Level, Tank (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) = 7.6 * Ph Level, Tap (If possible, KH, GH and chloramines) = N/A Other Required Info: * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? = API * Water temperature? = 75 * Tank size (how many gals.) and how long has it been running? 60 gal, 2 years * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? = JBJ EFU 35, Rena XP 3, Aquaclear 50 * How often do you change the water and how much? = Once every a week and half - 2 weeks. * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? = a week ago, 75% * How many fish in the tank and their size? = 6 * What kind of water additives or conditioners? = Prime * What do you feed your fish and how often? = Mixture of goldfish connection pellets and Ken's fish krill pellets * Any new fish added to the tank? = No * Any medications added to the tank? = No * List previous issues experienced (dropsy, SBD, etc.) = No * List entire medication/treatment history for fish and tank. Please include salt, Prazi, PP, etc and the approximate time and duration of treatment. * Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt," bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus? No * Any unusual behavior like staying at the bottom, not eating, etc.? No, fish is pretty active and eat normally. Sorry, I will try to get a better picture when I come home today but the bump on it's back is what I am referring to.
  14. Hi Everyone, So I have been missing for a while mostly due to my work. Recently I notice one of my black Ranchu has developed a tumor on its back. It is doing well and doesn't seem to bother by it at all. Good appetite, active and his mates don't really bother by it either (no poking/nipping). The question that I have is what I should do about it? Just leave it as it is? The tumor size is pretty big for its size... thank you all. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  15. Thank you all. I am not sure if it is an Oranda. It looks more of a fancy to me but the face looks like a ranchu. My wife saw it in our lfs and next thing I know she is in a plastic bag lol she named it an Angel.
  16. Sorry I have been away for a while. I was looking at my goldfish tank this morning and decided to create a short video and share it with you guys. Enjoy...
  17. Ok this looks ridiculously AMAZING! Congrats on your new tank and your house looks fabulous too. I am really interested with all the bell and whistles and especially when you change the water. You should create a video off it... I think this is the most advance aquarium I ever seen! Once again Congrats!
  18. Gosh... you should try ship them at least once. I will be more than happy be the guinea pig.
  19. About craiglist tanks... make sure you do a leak test before you bring it home and look for any visible cracks! I made a huge mistake and still kicking myself up to today.
  20. Recently I had similar experience with one of my gold fish. I moved Uno to the new fish tank by himself for one night and he always hide behind our ornaments. Once I moved the rest with him, he is doing fine again. Maybe he is just afraid being alone in such a big tank. I would...
  21. Hi All, I found out my 60 gallon bow tank leaked last week and after several attempts trying to drain water, put silicone on where we thought it was leaking from, the tank still leaks. It was so frustrating because we purchased this tank used from Craiglist only about 2 months ago. So after driving around trying to find a new tank, we found a new 60 gallon long (48 inch length) with unfinished stand + canopy for about $300. We were thinking to paint the unfinished canopy and stand to the color we like but after we set it up yesterday, it kinda looks good on how it is (We have travertine floor so the unfinished stand and canopy blend in perfectly). Do you guys see any bad things about it? The only thing that I am worry is when I spill water on it. Since it is unfinished, I am assuming the water will be in direct contact with the wood?
  22. Hmm 36x18, it is a bow front shape isn't it?
  23. Yea, the fish section is really lame. No, I didn't get any free stuffs at all . I think the most exciting booth in the fish section is the Aquascape. Love their planted nano tanks and shrimps.
  24. Hey waterfaller... just want to see how you are doing today. Hope you are feeling better .
  25. I am so sorry waterfaller and hope the remaining of your fish will survive. I am still new with gold fish hobby (about 6 months now) and so far have 1 casualty out of 8 that I have(brought home from LFS and didn't survive. It was just bottom sitting for 3 weeks since day 1 ). I was really sad because during that 3 weeks time, I tried all the suggestions ranging from chemicals to salt to increasing water temperature and it still died. I even already named him and was so sad wondering what I did wrong for several weeks. But I decided to go back to the same LFS and bought two and thinking if only one will survived, I will be happy. So far both survived and hope they are in many years. Sometimes there are things that we cannot control even when we have tried the best we can. I believe people call it 'Crap happens...' so hang in there and wish you best of luck with your remaining fish.
