  1. Thanks Sakura I'll keep that in mind if there is a next time which I hope there isn't I will try and find some anyway just incase it happens again. Brian died just before. I was too late I feel so terrible but I know what to look for with my remaining fish. Thankyou all of you for your advice and help I wish I had been in time to try some of it out and save them both. {R.I.P} Brian & Moticia <3
  2. I keep a heater on in there because it's in out loungeroom where we use an air-con and I don't want the water to fluctuate seeing as though it's summer and we don't have the cooler on all the time. It's at 26 degrees. I think it was my filter I hadn't cleaned it for a while I will def clean it more often (the filter pads not the whole thing) I hope he will be ok too I'm going to head out now and see if i can find some.
  3. No not regularly, I thought every now and then (as in every 3-4th change) you rinse your sponges in tank water but not the media? I didn't know though that's prob whats happened and it's built up over time that's why it's just happening now I think I cleaned my filters out once every two weeks, and that wasn't enough. Though it seems to depend on the filters since I cleaned one filter today that hadn't been cleaned since December and it was pretty clean. Out of all my dropsy fish, I was never able to save one. I had my beloved Butters that I got to hold on for a couple months but she didn't have the strength to continue. Its good that you separated him. Do you have epsom salt to add? 1/4 per ten gallons. ETA: Just noticed that you don't have the salts. Don't give up on him yet. My first dropsy fish was on the top on his side for a couple days. try to get the salts tomorrow though. Thankyou so much for your advice. I will get the salts tomorrow as soon as I can. I won't give up yet and I'll keep a close eye on my one left in the big tank for signs I've done a water change cleaned the filter pads and intake tube and I'll regularly check the params. I'll post how Brian is later on I'll just cross my fingers for him. Thanks again everyone. :'(
  4. Not deep at all! If you put your finger into it, it would only come up to the beginning of your fingernail! Do you think maybe the rocks that i usually have standing up and now are lying flat have cause a gas build up? I didn't even think I just layed them down and put plants around them as I was worried about the holes in the rocks getting a little small for the fish to go through.
  5. Thankyou. No I don't have any of those at the moment I've never treated a sick fish before this is my first tank. I don't know if I'm too late for Brian he's not moving and is near the surface now of the QT tank.

  7. It definantly qasn't there this moring she is so pale and light and this is dark dark red and all on the bottom maybe it was after she died because I def would've noticed that this morning.
  8. The water smells fine, as in no smell at all! I have done a water chage and I have just the one fish in there now. He's just swimming around happily and his scales don't appear to be sticking up or bloated or anything. I don't know what to do with Brian he looks like he's about to go but I'm not sure and I don't want him to suffer. He was swimming when I got home now he's not moving except for the odd swish and the gills moving. I have algae that I let grow on the back wall could that cause anything to go wrong? Not alot just a covering that they graze on.
  9. Wont let me edit again sorry. I will also add that I did a vacuum of the gravel a few days ago like i usually do and that I do have gravel I've been reading on the forums that leads to bacteria infections sometimes. Mort must've been pineconeing and I didn't notice because she was so pale and I have been running around like a lunatic these past few weeks. I feel so terrible Brian is now kind of just floating there movign a little bit I took him out of the tank into a smaller 10 gallon with cycled water I don't know if this was a good thing to do or not I don't really know what I'm doing because I feel so upset! My poor fish! I had a power out the other day for about 20 minutes maybe that affected the frozen food? I didn't even think! I took the half fake log out the other day too and i just have plants and two rocks . Could the rocks on their sides cause the pockets of gas that can cause dropsy? I'm going to take them out now too just in case! :S
  10. I just got home today and Mort my Sakura Ranchu had passed away! I don't know what happened I turned their lights on this morning and they were all wiggly and I fed them, I got home and she was in the corner up the top and all her under side belly was a dark red colour like she was bleeding internally I took photoes I will post them soon. Brian my metallic white Ranchu's scales are all spiky and sticking up and he looks slightly bloated. I feel like the worst mother they were probably showing signs and I didn't even notice! 11. Haha! Yeah they seem to be pooing 99% of the day it's hard to take a picture without a littler poop in there somewhere! Lol Koko
  12. Your most welcome! ^_^ I'll post another Video in a couple of months or so, the little white one is changing fast it was only in a matte rof 2 weeks he/she has changed that much!
  13. Good luck it'll be interesting to see how it turns out for you sounds like a great idea though!
  14. Thank's everyone! I love the colour change too it's so amazing how they can do that. As much as I Loved Brian/Brenda's almost glittery white scales I can't wait to see what they look likeafter this colour change. Also Mort/Morticia's little bits of black and red coming through, that will be really interesting. I'm not sure how old my little guys are I wish they had age rings like a tree I could just count and be on my way! ^_^ Koko thank's for the warnining I'll keep my eye out for sneaking Harukas!
  15. It looks amazing! Your fish are very cute also!
  16. Ok so I decided whilst doing my giant WC today, and I have three of my fish in a small container whilst I use the vacuum (I have to take them out now they follow it around and try to swim up the cup, I have a safe cup on the end but it freaks me out!) So I decided to make a quick movie showing them up close. The main reason behind this is Brian the one who was fully metallic white and sparkly with an orange tail and fins is turning gold! nearly all of one side of it's body is almost all a goldy/yellow/orange colour! Does this happen normally I think it's fascinating but I just wanted to check that it's not a bad thing! The sakura is also starting to get very small calico bits on its fins like bright orange with a little speck of black in it. I can't tell if they are male or female as yet I know that the Sakura and the big ornage ranchu have different vents but I can't tell which is which? The Sakura has a sort of "V" shaped area that comes down from the base of the tail and the vent is inside, where as the orange Ranchu has a completely seperate round vent further down from the base of the tail and no V shape it also comes out slightly? Either way hope you all enjoy my video, I forgot to play music with this one though. My Fish Up Close and Changing!
  17. Thanks guys. I thought it would be wonderful to get a tiny little fantail and watch it grow and change, she was just so small poor little thing. I don't think I'll get anymore fish for a while now. I still have my big fish and they make me feel happier
  18. Hi everyone! We moved Gloria to a 20g tank we bought, water params were all perfect and the tank was cycled right but the other week Gloria didn't look to well. At first I thought the current in the tank was too strong and was stressing her because even in still water she always looked like she had trouble swimming her body was so tiny her eye really stood out because it was nearly as big as half her body! Anyway, I turned the airstone down a little bit and the filter flow did regular water checks to make sure the water params didn't spike from the change and they didn't. When I got Gloria I noticed she had a very slight bulge on one side of her but she seemed active enough I din't really think much of it, when I got home the other night she was very lathargic and every swish of her tail seemed like such an effort so I checked the water again did a small WC and watched. She died that night and I was so upset I felt so horrible, I try my hardest to look after all my fish and my Ranchus/Lionheads are thriving but I just couldn't save this one. I don't know if it's something I did but from the day I got her she always looked like she struggled to move and it was a huge effort I just thought it was because she was a Fantail and her tail was huge compared to her body. When I took her out of the tank and layed her down I noticed the little bulge had a goldish tinge around it but I'm not sure if that is just the scales colour or if it was something wrong. Her gills weren't white and she still seemed very bright and healthy looking apart from the fact she wasn't alive She was the tiniest fish I've ever seen and the only small one in the Tank of about 60 Larger Fantails, that's why I chose her. So sorry guy's no more photos, poor Gloria R.I.P. x
  19. Thanks! Until I got my tiny little fantail I didn't realise how massive they have gotten, even though they are still tiny babies They're getting chunkier by the day! I love bowie too, all my fish are fans now too lol
  20. haha! Thanks Lola you always make me laugh! It remind me of the World of Warcraft Lich King log in screen GLORIA! I just love how tiny she is and her pattern is very lovely yes Thanks.
  21. Back in her home Ok heres some quick shots of her little home (For now! ) you can also see me...and my kitchen and my hands and camera from reflection lol Sampson thought he'd check out the tank too, I don't allow him on the bench tops usually, but seeing as though I had just dropped half my cake mix on the floor and didn't want him walking in it and eating it all as I KNOW he would I had no choice but to put him up there now he has a friend Enjoy!
  22. If I'm still up at about 10pm you can see all four of my fish in the big tank all floating in a kind of line it's so cool looking like their wind up battery ran out and they are just suspended Hugo is sooo so cute ^_^
  23. Thanks guys! Gloria is back in her tank, new air pump, air stone and filter seal woo! I also moved my beautiful small driftwood and plant into her tank will add more shots when my battery on my camera is charged! So glad it's all working again! Off to make 2 x Cherry cakes and some deviled sausages for tea! (Baby shower to go to tomorrow need a cake pronto!)
  24. I just tried Craigslist Adelaide and came up with nothing! I'd love to have a fantail/telescope tank and my Ranchu/Lionhead tank eventually But for now I will def stay on top of my params (I love testing my water!) and hopefully she will enjoy her little 10G house for the time being
