  1. The gouramis and cories have different living requirements than goldfish. On here, it is recommended to keep goldfish only in a goldie tank, although some (including myself) have other coldwater species like white cloud mountain minnows in the tank. good luck, mj
  2. It sounds to me like re-homing the isolated goldfish is the way to go. It will ease your mind, and give the lone goldfish a chance at a better life. Good luck! It must be frustrating not to be able to give them the home you want to and they deserve. mj
  3. That is just lovely!! Good job! mj
  4. My 55 has a black back so the cords are hidden, but no playing around with pretty backgrounds for me. The betta tank has an old calendar page with rocks and green moss on it. I think it adds depth and the jungle look that I'm trying to achieve for the tank. It looks like this:
  5. Oops!! I forgot to mention that I am hanging my tank from the ceiling now...it's a bit hard to keep the water in that way, but allows for more floor space. Sorry! How do I flip the image? Can't figure it out!
  6. Hi All. I've been away for a while...but still keeping fish. I've been having very high nitrates lately, so have added a few new plants, including a peace lily in the filter. I hope this will help moderate the 30-40 ppm nitrates I'm getting within 5 days. Any suggestions about what's causing it? In the past I've had no more than 20 ppm even after a week. I started feeding Repashy Soilent Green, and I added 4 nerite snails around the time this started. anyway, here's the picture of Fluffy and friends and their new plants:
  7. Seriously. The smell made me sick. I do not mind the smell of "fresh" or "cooking" SG at all, but what I just smelled was in the top 3 of worst smells ever experienced. A third of the house stinks right now. I can imagine how bad that must have been, Fang. I hope your nose recovers soon!
  8. So lovely! Glad the move went well.
  9. Looking good, Hidr. Hope the other frog appears soon...
  10. That thread was the perfect followup to the holiday gift exchange thread! Love the music too.
  11. That was very interesting. I'm glad he put the note at the end. I'd love to see the tanks he has at home!

  17. I would be cautiously optimistic that you have a cycle going there! Crossing fingers! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
  18. I am trying to train my fish to learn their names...so at feeding time it's "Hercule! Hercule!" and "Emma" etc. Sweetie thinks it's hilarious!! Sorry about the teasing dakotak. I hope it eases up. mj
  19. I scraped the ones I could reach off the glass and pots during the water change today. I think the goldies ate them once they were detached.
  20. What cute little babies. Here's to an uneventful and quick cycle on their new home!
  21. My lovely nerites have lain eggs all over the tank. The Goldie's don't seem to eat them. Can I just leave the eggs in there? I know they probobly won't hatch since it's not brackish water... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
  22. Tithra, I got your pm and will mail the snails next week after the 4TH. Thanks! I am sure you will enjoy them. Mj Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
