  4. Nnooooooo! Don't tell me that these even exist! Those r my two favorite kinds of candy and I'm trying really hard to give up sugar. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
  5. I'd love to know the answer to your questions, too. I tend to think that maybe the plants moderate the nitrate, and that it would be even worse without them. It's a tough situation. And I wish u the best of luck. Mj Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2

  8. Hi there. Here is Hercule swimming in the bubbles. He loves it and swims up and down the stream of bubbles for hours. There's a video which I will be happy to post if someone will tell me how. Thanks for looking.
  9. Mine would be banana plant. I was just looking at the tank and thinking I'd like one in there if the Goldie's won't eat it. For practicality, I have had really good luck with onion plant. Not eaten and more sturdy than vals. I'd love to try Shawnee's crinium. That looks really cool! Good luck and have fun with the plant ordering. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
  10. Oh they are so cute! Love how active little blueberry is! Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
  11. Hi. I just saw this and hope it's not too late to enter. Here's my 55 gallon tank which has 2 goldfish and 3 white cloud minnows.
  12. Just to post my experience my filter set up is 2 years old now and I have no more diatoms. Seems like it's a problem with newer systems. Good luck! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
  13. It looks great! Question: did u remove the original finish or use primer? I've always avoided re painting things because of that. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
  14. He could very well be changing color again. When I got him he had some black markings including a black mustache which earned him the name Hercule Poirot.Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
  15. Stunning new fish! Congratulations. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
  16. My longest lived fish was Fluffy who was 3.5 when she died. Current fish are 2.5 years. I have always had live plants and went from blue clown gravel, to rocks to Eco complete and now bare bottom. :-) They eat new life spectrum pellets, algae flakes, repashy and fresh veggies p,us a fasting day once a week. I hope the current fish will be with me for a good long time. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
  17. Amazing! Thanks for sharing. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
  18. She's beautiful, Alex! And I know many a fish who might consider feigning illness just to be able to live in that qt tank! Good job on both counts! Mj Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
  19. Thanks everyone. I appreciate the kind words. Shellbell, I like the onion plants a lot - they are the only tall plants I've found that the Goldie's don't eat. It does fine in the pot with a bit of root tab and gravel with stones on top. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
  20. Thanks everyone! I am liking him more and more as he grows. He's a real pistol and chases the other fish mercilessly. I also suspect him of eating at least 2 of the littles (white cloud minnows). But I do like his ribbon tail.
  21. Here is Hercule. When I got him, I thought he was a fantail. He's about 2 and a half. Now he's filled out to 58 grams and is growing a wen. Is he an Oranda? His body is so long and his tail so flow-y, but he's getting cute little grumpy cheeks. Thanks for your help in identifying his breed. Headshot and grumpy cheeks: Side view:
  22. Hi everyone. At last I have taken some pictures to show off my new 55 gallon tank and stand. I bought the stand from Fishtanksdirect.com and I really like it. It's a reddish wood, and matches the other furniture in our livingroom. I ordered a canopy, but didn't like it. It seemed like it would be too hard to get into the tank for feeding and cleaning with the canopy on. As it turned out, they had sent me the wrong size, so he refunded my money for it. Anyway, on to the details. It's a 55 gallon acrylic tank that I found at the LFS for a good price. The inhabitants are Hercule the big oranda? (58 grams), Jelly the orange ranchu (19 grams), and Emma the calico ranchu (18 grams). There are also 3 White Cloud Mountain Minnows that I love to watch. They are so active and fun. Plants consist of an onion plant, several different kinds of anubias, and a colony of Java fern stuck to a rock, and a couple of fake plants to fill out the greenery. The onion plant is in a pot. The others are glued to rocks. I painted the bottom with a combination of black and grey textured paint. I like the barebottom look and feel like the lighter color shows up the fish well. Sorry for the bad quality. I can't find my good camera. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pictures. Full tank shot The newly organized cabinet (for a few minutes anyway) The goldies - you can just see Emma peeking out from behind the rock on the right. Another view of the whole tank.
  23. I may be late to the party, but that is a gorgeous tank. I love how it fills up the corner. The fish look so happy, and the pulls are the finishing touch of perfection. What a great find and thanks for sharing it with us, Shawn. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
  24. One 55 gallon with goldies & white clouds. One 3 gallon bet ta tank. I just gave away the old 55 tank so I have removed the temptation to set up a second big tank. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
