  1. No Idea. I'll try putting some gravel in... Ammonia is up to 0.5 already. So I'll do a big waterchange first. Thanks Grace.
  2. Thanks for you help. Ammonia gets really high if i don't do at least a 5G water change. Yesterday it was between 0.25 and 0.5. ( you know, the second green shade). I'm at work right now so I can't look at the chart.
  3. The established one is 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites and 10 (about) nitrates, goes up before each water change (the nitrates).
  4. Yes I have ammonia readings. seems like it did not make any difference that I put media from my old filter in the new tank. Should I also add some of the gravel perhaps?
  5. Hi there, set up a "new" 20 gallon tank for my two baby feeders as a qt on friday. I used one of the media bags from my established tank to put in the filter. Shouldn't I be getting a nitrite reading by now? Tank : 20 G water temp: 76 water changes: 2x a day 5 G to keep ammonia low. Thanks for your input.
  6. It's amazing how one "good" employee can make a big difference though. We have this guy working at our local Pet$smart and he always keeps the tanks in perfect condition. Then he quit for 3 months and the goldies got finrot and ich etc. You just knew he wasn't working there anymore. He came back, which really made a big difference in just a couple of weeks...
  7. What does bread have to do with it? Then there's this: Why wouldn't puppy mills or petstores want people to have pets? If people don't buy pets, how would they stay in business? I don't understand either of your comments. They meant P-E-T-A. The animal rights group. And the puppy mills I think were mentioned because of the bad way they care for their animals.
  8. Hope she'll be ok. She's such a cutie.
  9. oh. they are soooo cute!! How big are they now?
  10. What a gorgeous pond! And beautiful fish, too.
  11. At Raingarden I've seen some bigger yellow comets. I think they pretty much stay that colour, but I've never had one myself, so I can't say for sure. I love your comets. They look really pretty.
  12. I've tried it, too. The goldies love it. Didn't presoak the first time and they almost choked (they were really small). So now I presoak and they just "inhale" it.
  13. Looks beautiful! sooo much room . Took me a while to find your little fishie in it.
  14. Poor guy. Hope Calcifer feels better soon.
  15. Well, I made some braces and used some duct tape on the outside, so I guess they should be safe until the pond is done in about 2 weeks or so. They were never interested in the other tank, but this one, because it's closer to the ground is very interesting to them.
  16. Thanks Vee. lol I'm sure they wont drink the water, but they might enjoy going fishing... And of course if the thing falls in with the light switched on...
  17. Yes, that's the one, with the light alreadt built in and a big flap in the front for feeding
  18. Oh no!! I'm so sorry to hear that.
  19. That's what I'm worried about, too. I wonder if there is anything I can do to make it safer?
