  4. they said the water sample was fine. i have added aquarium salt and turned up the temperature.
  5. interesting! I think my goldfish may have parasites on it because there are brown spots on it, and it keeps on rubbing up against other things. I've turned up the temperature, and added aquarium salt. the water stats are fine. not sure what else I can do for him. weird; it started happening even before I fed them the bloodworms...
  6. I just bought some live bloodworms for my fish. I was reading about them online, and found that "their bite is painful even to a human"(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycera_(genus))? Also, I added aquarium salt to my 20 gallon tank. If I were to add bloodworms, would the salt kill them? "they can tolerate low salt levels in the water" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycera_(genus))?

  21. i just got back from college, and my dad was taking care of my two goldfish in the 20 gallon tank. saw the single-tailed laying down, and in the corner. she swims around a bit. i found that my double tailed fish, will sometimes nip at her. took parameters, and i believe the ph was at around 8. the only other high parameter was ammonia, at 0.25. the test kit is a apa liquid master fresh kit. we feed them once a day. have a filter and aerator. later should have been changed last week, and should be changed every week. not sure how much was removed. no new meds or fish or plants added. tried feeding her pellets, but they went right by her and she just sat there. she seems to move around a bit. i also have an aerator. i noticed that the double-tailed will nip at her sometimes, and she doesn't move much. also, he is turning white.

  23. my single tailed fish sporadically has these spasms, and seems to swim around on it's side/upside down. this is the second time this has happened, and i am not sure why she is doing this. besides this, she seems to act normal.
  24. i use a de-chlorinator that removes, or de-toxifies ammonia, nitrate and nitrite. i try to change the water every 2 weeks. i change 1/3-1/2 every time. it looks like it is a lot of effort for him to stay from sinking....
  25. i have a double-tailed goldfish (male) with a female single-tailed fish in a 20-gallon tank. the guy has bloating issues. so i give him peas. i notice though that he does this weird act of hovering, and then shooting to the top of the tank, and he does this over and over. he will also lay at the bottom of the tank, and then swim upwards. is he just bored? does anyone else find that their fish do this too? it seems like he is heavy enough to naturally float to the bottom of the tank. lol thanks!
