  7. This happened to me a while ago and I used Anti fungus and finrot, it didn't seem to do any good at all and I lost my fish I would totally recommend the 3% salt and water changes, I did this as recommended by Koko's and one of my fish who's fin was in a right old state, healed and he is much happier. Good luck, it's awful when your fish are poorly x
  8. Hope everything went well, your fish looks adorable.
  9. Thank you Sakura, I will do And thank you all for your help. It is REALLY appreciated x
  10. Nearly the same thing happened to my beautiful black ranchu. I came home from work and he was missing, searched the tank and finally found hin stuck in an ornament. He had obviously been struggling to get out for a while, he has lost loads of scales, and he is now black with very large patches of white skin. His fins are all torn and some of his wen is missing. He is in a bad way, we have fingers crossed he pulls through. I am so sorry for your loss
  11. Have decided not to go to the vets, the travelling and the fact that our vet isn't very fish knowledgeable put me off. The fin looks like it got damaged and has split down the middle and now looks like two fins. There is a bit of blood streaking round the edge of the damage. I have to say he does seem perkier tonight, now on 2% of salt, 3% tomorrow, swimming around the tank, still not using the damaged fin much(one of the front ones) will leave the melafix at the moment seeing as there seems to be improvement with just the salt. Thanks for the reassurance about setup and routine, one does wonder if they are doing the right things
  12. OK, so I am on day 2 of the 3% salt meds. Can I use Melafix at the same time?

  14. I could really do with some suggestions, though I am going to ring my vet tomorrow to see if he can remedy this as I seem unable to. All water readings are fine and have been, I have tried anti finrot, salt, melafix, obviously not all at the same time, with no luck. The melafix and salt made all my fish miserable and sit on the bottom. I used apl's recommended dosage which was 1 heaped teaspoon to 19l, but it seemed to upset them so much I don't really want to try the 3% dosage recommended for illness. I have just done a 90% water change to rid the tank of any treatment as, to be honest nothing seems to be working so I might swell just have excellent water quality. So it's off to the vets, if he treats fish, to see if he can directly apply medication to him. Any help obviously much appreciated, the tank is not overstocked and has regular water changes.
  15. Can I ask how you work out the 2% salt. My packet of APL says 1 rounded teaspoon for every 19 litres.
  16. They are beautiful, I also love the red cap, he has a cheeky face
  17. Rachy

    New Betta!

He is beautiful! I have given my daughter my Biorb and we are going to buy her a Betta
  18. I also have an oranda with this on one of his fins. My water results are good, regular water changes and I have tried a couple of medications on him but to no avail. I am interested to hear of any suggestions. Sorry I couldn't offer any help, being in the same boat.
  19. My orandas hang out together and sleep together under the filter, where as the ranchus do their own thing.
  20. They are gorgeous!!!! Your tank looks fab too
