  1. I have tried to rub some vaseline off on her a few times now, but she is so slick it wont stick to her black spot
  2. I think you are right Helen. It is not color change, but more likely related to her fin being exposed to air. The vaseline treatment was also my initial guess.
  3. Thank you Alex. I like the big tub too. Out fish looks very different from above, than from the side in an aquarium I will wait an see then, and report back if there are any changes. Thx for your thoughts everybody
  4. You cant feel the spot with your fingers. I have given up fighting the nitrate. Allmost impossible. Have spent a lot on nitrate removal.
  5. Thx Any advice on the black spot? I was thinking about applying some vaseline on it?
  6. Hi all. Due to bullying by my new and very aggressive male fantails. I have had to move my girls to their own tub. Both have SWD....One floats, the other sinks (i have tried everything). But they seem happy enough in their own spa However, my 10+ year old, Tvilsen, now have a black spot that slowly gets bigger. No doubt because she often floats with the affected area above water What can i do? Picture of her problem: http://www.akvariefi...0388C4B45B3.JPG Movie of the "Girly Tub" Thx for any input Jesper / Guldklumpen * Ammonia Level = 0. * Nitrite Level = 0. * Nitrate level = 35-40 (tap water level). * Ph Level, Tank = 7.8. * Ph Level, Tap = 7.8. * Brand of test-kit used and whether strips or drops? = API drop test. * Water temperature? = 21 celcius. * Tank size and how long has it been running? = 150 liter, filter is cycled. * What is the name and "size of the filter"(s)? = Fluval. * How often do you change the water and how much? = 50-60% every sunday. * How many days ago was the last water change and how much did you change? = Every sunday. * How many fish in the tank and their size? = 2 semi big goldies. * What kind of water additives or conditioners? = None. 7. ****Update**** Pepper have now been treated with Metro-Meds for 14 days. She does not appear any different from before. She still bottomsat this morning and is now getting floaty. Her poops are either thin clear threads or light brown, mushy, diarrhealike poops. I think her swimbladder is affected, probably from high nitrates. ...and i doubt anything can be done for her. Despite this, she seems to be a happy little fish, and i will just have to prepare myself for the fact, that she will probably not get old. Thx for all your help guys Pepper & I, appreciate it very much. Jesper
  8. Well, its hard to say, since she never acted sick (besides float/sink). I see mushy light brown poops and some floaty ones. I have not seen her belly up at all in her tub, but that can be because she get so exited every time she sees me Im hoping for the best and will report back when she has returned to the main tank
  9. Thx a lot What type of food are best for Pepper after treating her with Metro-Meds? Is Saki Hikari fancy goldfish pellets with probiotics a good choice? I was thinking about fasting her for 1½ day after her treatment.
  10. Allrighty then. Then there is no eminent danger of overdosing with 2%
  11. Go for it.....show your aggressive side, lol
  12. Yes my beans are from a bag that is frozen. The beans are actually smaller than peas. Anything from Rick yet Stakos? He never answers my mails.
  13. Very nice. Please let me know what he writes Stakos?
  14. Not if you ask Pepper, lol ...But i hear you Alex, and thx for info on the directions. I will update again later. Thx for your time and help
  15. How do we know this Alex? The front just says "FEED NO OTHER FOOD EXECPT METRO-MEDS FOR 14 DAYS". Are there a more detailed instruction anywhere? Will 2% hurt her? I feel 1% may be too little, since the Jungle AP treatment did not help her.
  16. Ooh, i read 2% several other places? Including in a video by tithra i think?
  17. Yes, i did Alex. She is 52 grams and get 1.04 grams of MM a day, right? The greedy girl would like more though, haha
  18. Update! The bloodworms did nothing for Pepper, so this morning i decided to try Metro Meds as a last option. Just came home and noticed she have pooped alot....that must be a good sign right? It is light brown poops that looks very soft when scooped up with a net. She seems happy for now
  19. Yes, it would be great. This weekend i will clean my guppy tank filter and use the filter sponge in a QT tank filter for Pepper. Then i can use low nitrate water change water from the goldfish tank and hopefully have instant cycled low nitrate QT tub for Pepper. I will post later with an update.
  20. Cool, i understand. What should i look for, in order for me to determine if it is working?
  21. Hi Alex. Yes i can do this. Just bought a lot of bloodworms the other day. She will have to be isolated then, in a tub without Nitrate filter....so back to 40 ppm nitrates What is the theory behind this treatment? How does it differ from the green bean or spinach only treatment?
